(no subject)

I have a totally dumb question.

I don't speak a zillion languages. I barely speak one must days.

How much actual learning do people want to do? I'll be looking things up on the web, at most, and while languages fascinate me they don't make for compelling game play.

Class lectures, excercises, homework? I have no ideas whatsoever.

And you think I know much about anthro? Lmfao I know very limited. Make it easy enough that we can still take part and do real life homework too XD

Let's just say that if you manage to successfully teach an online course in Cat, I'll be very, VERY impressed.

HAHA, yeah, you are not the only teacher facing that position. Inter-dimensional mathematical origins? Sorry, not THAT knowledgable on the subject (though mostly having problems with the first word).

I don't think Cat would be as bad as Esperanto, myself. "Mrow," means 'feed me.' It also means 'pet me,' 'give me water', and 'hey hey what's that you're eating can I have some?' It's the tones that are going to be difficult to master.

*laughs* You just wing it. If you don't want to actually spell out a lesson, then you do something like *lectures on x aspect of y language* and leave it at that. A lot of RPing with something like this has to be kinda like that, because of the classes and such, but also when dealing with stuff between so many different fandoms.

Though if you want to throw in some stuff for flavor, I'm sure there's people who can help. I know some Japanese and am working on starting to learn Korean, [livejournal.com profile] yuuko_sama knows more Japanese than I do, etc. So if you need a phrase or two, I'm sure you could just ask and someone would be able to help.

Hee! (This is also [livejournal.com profile] tormenting_art; too lazy to switch accounts at the moment.)

Well, I've never owned a cat, and my Spanish is very, very rusty, but if you ever wanted me to rustle up some Latin for you, I could probably do that.

Or, you know, I could just give you some dirty jokes in Latin. Same difference.

heh, as xelchyan says, i am actually conversational in japanese. if you'd like, i would be happy to serve as a teacher aid or something in the asian languages class if people actually want to learn some. ^_^

You could probably just fake it - I fully intend to, as I speak English and the barest smattering of French and Spanish.

Designating something as speaking in another language might be helpful... for example

//Farsi// This would be us pretending to speak in Farsi - and everyone else would just have to pretend along like they did or didn't know it as appropiate.

Or something like that.

I guess my take on the subject would be this: how would Dream teach a language class? How can you convey that via the medium of lj?

I want to be turned into a cat damn it! :D Erm I actually speak cat pretty well, well my cat seems to understand!

I don't think of any of us expect you to be proficient in ancient languages, and umm... cat. Just see what you can find in Google, and we can always make up the rest.

Me = real life senior anthro student, so if you need a hand with anything, just holler!
