Obscure Fandom R Me

So I wanted to choose a fandom I feel at least mostly competent in, that I won't have to constantly be looking things up in a book or rewinding on a tape or something, and so I chose The Chronicles of Amber. And that is my first problem, nobody knows who the frell these people are. So I thought a bit of info in OOC would be helpful. In the next few days I hope to get some links posted on my UserInfo page to help with that.

So here is the dealio:
Deirdre is a daughter of Oberon, King of Amber. Amber is the one true world, that which all other worlds are merely reflections of.

The Royal House of Amber has some unique talents. They can communicate with one another using the picture on a set of cards(Trumps, which only work for the Royal Family), which look much like Tarot cards. Sometimes they use the cards to transport themselves from one place to another. They can travel to anywhere they can imagine, by literally creating it with the concentration and desire to make their way there. Deirdre can use this in a limited capacity, as I will explain in a bit. A member of the Royal House of Amber can, in fact, create their own world and rule it as they see fit, if they so desired. But they don't often do this, as they are always aware that these created places(called Shadow) are not the True World. And the family is typical dysfuntional, right down to the philandering father and the batshit crazy wizard(Dworkin) and the killer sibling rivalry.

For my purposes in game here I have modified Deirdre's abilities a bit, she can "Walk Shadow" (as the creating of a place is called) on a limited basis, this is for safety, as she is supposed to be hiding out in this backwater lovely place.

I read these books the first time when I was 12 or 13, so they left an impression. I dreamed about Walking Shadow as a kid, no I mean really dreamed it, when I was asleep. The one thing I wished I could do, and still do, is visit libraries, like go to Alexandria or the first Carnegie library, whathaveyou. So I have toned down the ability to ShadowWalk a little bit(she can take short Walks), but given her the ability to go to any library she wants, like a corespondant space. (L-space-esque for you Disc fans) That is my marysue want, so I will do it through roleplay, ha! So if you need research, ask Deirdre to get some books for you, she has some amazing access.

Now then, does she go to the "real" Alexandria? Does she go to someplace that is very much like it? These are philosophical questions for when I am more awake. The simple answer is that she can find a Potential Alexandria that suits her need at that moment. That is good enough for now I am thinking.

So basically, she is living in a big ol' house her father literally created for her, she can heal incredibly fast, she has a huge buncha siblings, Magic of a sorts is in her blood and in her reality, all this is just some reflection of the True World that she hails from.

I hope this is helpful to someone.

(and the house has stables and whateverelse, it is imaginary after all, come party!)

My problem is that, aside from people like Krycek and Hurley, I ONLY know the people from the more obscure fandoms.

You might want to put a summary of that in your userinfo, if you haven't already.

Well then, that would certainly make it easier for you should you need to look up something, as larger fandoms tend to have information much more readily available.
