Spider's Quarters
This started out as an informational post for the Assistant and the interns, but it sort of got carried away.
A few things about Spider’s quarters.
1. They are not in the dorms, but in the main school building. They are on the second floor, just above his classroom. They are not particularly impressive in any way, save for the fact that his basic amenities are ridiculously high tech.
He has a bedroom with a bed and a few basic furnishings, size small. He has a kitchen that you might blink and miss. He has a bathroom only slightly larger than the kitchen. There is a main room with a couch, a table, a few chairs, a computer and the newsfeeds and two closets. There is also a securely locked door back to the City that allows only one way traffic from the other side - so that he can accept deliveries. That’s pretty much it.
The entire place is a pit if he’s left to himself for longer than 24 hours. This is why he asked his interns and assistants if they were adverse to light housekeeping. Spider’s a slob – as evinced by empty pizza boxes, the occasional hairball and cigarette butts left around by the cat and the stacks of porn.
The décor is boring, the colors are uninspired, the furniture is very basic. Spider uses his place to sleep, eat, use the bathroom, work and watch either movies or the newsfeeds. He feels he’s been castrated by being locked up away from the City and will roam the campus with a glint in his eye, looking for trouble.
2. In order to bypass the physical security systems you would need to be able to either a) replicate him down to his DNA and make no overtly uncharacteristic moves once inside or b) come from a world at least as technologically advanced as his own and have all the equipment to crack the system before it killed you or c) use magic to get in and continue to use magic to conceal yourself from the sensors once inside.
There are several students that I think would be capable of this, but I want to hear about any attempts ahead of time if only to explain how the systems work and what’s actually IN his quarters… which isn’t much.
3. In order to bypass the magical wards, you will need to take up the matter with Abe no Seimei unless you are pure of intent and/or god-touched.
The Principal can come and go as she pleases. I set it up that her having access to Spider’s quarters was one of the conditions of his community service. Gandalf, Abe no Seimei, J'onn J'onzz, Clark Kent, River Tam, Dream, Death and Delerium are the only other people that I would not blink at seeing wander in and out of his quarters without having to go to interesting lengths to do so – and even Clark would have to break in.
Phoebe, Krycek, Pyro and Otto can also come and go as the security systems will be taught to recognize them. Again, physical impersonation will work only on a DNA level and said impersonator will have to be able to convince Seimei’s wards that they mean no harm.
Spider’s not adverse to adult company or even the occasional student, despite what he says… but he’s had enough attempts on his life that he’s paranoid and, in his own words, “A paranoid is merely someone in possession of all the facts.”
Feel free to stop by and ring his high tech doorbell. Leave him notes, whatever. There’s a good chance you can get inside if you really want to just by asking - as long as you're interesting enough. He’s merely out to stop high tech assassins and tentacle beasts and protect his basic privacy – also his stash of alcohol, cigarettes, drugs and porn.
