RL Los Angeles Homecoming Party?

Would anyone be interested if I were to host a party on Homecoming night at my place in L.A.? (I'm in Sherman Oaks.) We could drink spiked punch, watch John Hughes movies and geek out on our laptops.

If that's something you might want to do, comment here and let me know. (And if you don't have a laptop, but are interested, let me know. I have a spare, mostly-reliable laptop I could loan out, and there's space for a couple of towers & monitors.)

Damn. I moved from the San Bernardino area to Michigan about a month and a half ago, or I would've been in.

[identity profile] master-of-fear.livejournal.com 2005-09-25 10:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Man, if you were on the other side of the continent, I'd be there in no time XD

[identity profile] anextimeagent.livejournal.com 2005-09-25 10:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, I am SO there. (Of course, I plan on having a major plot go down, so I'm freaking INSANE, but we all knew that.)

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/_gottahavefaith/ 2005-09-25 10:08 pm (UTC)(link)
If you lived in the area of Delaware, I'd totally be there.

[identity profile] maias-notebook.livejournal.com 2005-09-25 10:10 pm (UTC)(link)
damn i wont be in L.A. until the 14th of October and I will be booked solid. *sighs* damn that would have been freaking fun too.

[identity profile] the4thsister.livejournal.com 2005-09-25 10:22 pm (UTC)(link)
If you lived in the UK (ideally in the Sheffield area) I'd have been there! Have fun

[identity profile] cantgetnorelief.livejournal.com 2005-09-25 10:27 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm in Burbank, so it's not that far from me.

Tempting . . . sadly I don't have a computer of any portability.

[identity profile] aka-vala.livejournal.com 2005-09-25 11:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Cool! (of course we'll have to fight over the shared laptop... ;-)

[identity profile] 2ls-in-oneill.livejournal.com 2005-09-25 11:30 pm (UTC)(link)
My god, if you were in Phoenix I would be all over that like Lee on Crichton white on rice. Damn my Arizonayness!

[identity profile] defiantlyyours.livejournal.com 2005-09-26 12:27 am (UTC)(link)
Yay! Two RPing Phoenicians!

[identity profile] 2ls-in-oneill.livejournal.com 2005-09-26 12:29 am (UTC)(link)
Four if you count Beka-Mun and DeathBinky-mun. Where in Phoenix are you? If you don't mind me asking of course.

[identity profile] death-n-binky.livejournal.com 2005-09-26 12:53 am (UTC)(link)
He damn well better count the Death_n_Binky mun! Mmm... Phoenix. I'm living right next to PV mall myself. :)

[identity profile] 2ls-in-oneill.livejournal.com 2005-09-26 01:14 am (UTC)(link)
Dude. I have met a total of like six people online from Arizona in my entire existence and now there are three other just in FH alone. This rocks. I'm down on 7th st & Glendale myself, just a little bit from Chirs-Town/Spectrum.

[identity profile] death-n-binky.livejournal.com 2005-09-26 01:18 am (UTC)(link)
We should rally the forces some weekend/evening and partake in geeky-revelry of some various and sundry sort. My aparment, now that its finally mostly clean, is always open for such events and troublemaking.

*grins* I also think its amusing how many people know the mun journal for DEATH for no reason other than I keep posting as the wrong person.

[identity profile] flinkmeister.livejournal.com 2005-09-26 01:19 am (UTC)(link)
Metro Phoenix. Downtown-ish.

[identity profile] 2ls-in-oneill.livejournal.com 2005-09-26 01:38 am (UTC)(link)
That is an incredibly awesome idea (For some reason I type "behaviour" there). The Arizona people should totally find a way to organize a get-together. I can... make lists. Damn my lack of money/transportation/apartment room.

I'd so be up for helping organize though, I'm good at that.

[identity profile] 2ls-in-oneill.livejournal.com 2005-09-26 01:40 am (UTC)(link)
Rock on! I'm at 7th st and Glendale, right smack dab in the middle of bus lines.

[identity profile] death-n-binky.livejournal.com 2005-09-26 01:42 am (UTC)(link)
Have car, will transport. Think of me as the FandomHigh Phoenix private taxi service.

[identity profile] 2ls-in-oneill.livejournal.com 2005-09-26 01:58 am (UTC)(link)
Oh. Such massive amounts of love.

Should I make a post summoning the Phoenixish people for planning?

[identity profile] flinkmeister.livejournal.com 2005-09-26 02:09 am (UTC)(link)
Sure. Why not?

[identity profile] sonofaparrotman.livejournal.com 2005-09-26 02:12 am (UTC)(link)
So, how 'bout something in the Philly/B'more/DC corridor, then? I bet there's enough of us who'd want to do something . . .

[identity profile] 2ls-in-oneill.livejournal.com 2005-09-26 02:12 am (UTC)(link)
Two shakes.

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/_gottahavefaith/ 2005-09-26 02:15 am (UTC)(link)
I totally would.

[identity profile] 2ls-in-oneill.livejournal.com 2005-09-26 02:20 am (UTC)(link)
Done. (http://www.livejournal.com/community/fandomhigh_ooc/109316.html#cutid1)

[identity profile] 2ls-in-oneill.livejournal.com 2005-09-26 02:20 am (UTC)(link)
Organize away. (http://www.livejournal.com/community/fandomhigh_ooc/109316.html#cutid1)

[identity profile] sonofaparrotman.livejournal.com 2005-09-26 02:34 am (UTC)(link)
Right. Shall we have a post for that, then?

[identity profile] sonofaparrotman.livejournal.com 2005-09-26 02:53 am (UTC)(link)
And DONE. (http://www.livejournal.com/community/fandomhigh_ooc/109833.html)

Now just to wait and find out exactly how not alone we are. 8)

[identity profile] soniabelmont.livejournal.com 2005-09-26 03:37 am (UTC)(link)
Totally not trying to sound creepy, but ooooh, whereabouts in Michigan? I grew up on the western shore (but live in NYC now for school.)

[identity profile] auroryborealis.livejournal.com 2005-09-26 03:38 am (UTC)(link)
Haha, Ann Arbor. Just moved here for school myself.

[identity profile] soniabelmont.livejournal.com 2005-09-26 03:41 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, A2's nice. Crowded, but nice. UofM, I'm going to guess?

I, uh, went to State for a year. Before transferring. :D But everyone in my family is a huge UofM fan. (I could've cared less about the football teams, what with being a music major and all.)

[identity profile] auroryborealis.livejournal.com 2005-09-26 03:42 am (UTC)(link)
Eastern, actually...mostly for the teaching program. I'm a secondary-ed major.

[identity profile] soniabelmont.livejournal.com 2005-09-26 03:45 am (UTC)(link)
Ah! Neat! (sorry, I tend to forget that there are other schools in that area besides the Big Two.) Good luck with that; education's such a difficult and under-appreciated field.

You say you moved from California- I hope you packed sweaters. Mid-Michigan can get nasty in the winter.

[identity profile] auroryborealis.livejournal.com 2005-09-26 03:48 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I've heard. I'm still getting over the presence of seasons.

It's been raining for almost two days straight here, and I'm marveling at the fact that people are actually outside, and what's more, can still function. I'm used to Californians who freak out when anything vaguely resembling precipitation hits, and act as though water from the sky is the sign of an apocalypse.

[identity profile] soniabelmont.livejournal.com 2005-09-26 03:53 am (UTC)(link)
Ahh, Michigan, where one can get heatstroke and frostbite in the same week. :D

Haha, just wait til it snows. It generally takes several inches of ice and at least three feet of snow to keep us in (and even then, you get the stragglers who have to venture out because the SCHOOLS NEVER CLOSE OMG.)

[identity profile] auroryborealis.livejournal.com 2005-09-26 03:56 am (UTC)(link)
No school closures? Damn it! My high school closed once in California, and that was because there was a huge fire about a mile away from it. And even then, we still had to go to school the first day of the fire, with ash falling all around.

I was looking forward to the famed 'snow days,' even if I am way too old to enjoy them to the fullest, most childish extent.

[identity profile] soniabelmont.livejournal.com 2005-09-26 04:02 am (UTC)(link)
Mmm, it depends. I mean, if doors were iced shut and even if they could open, they'd be blocked with snow? Yeah, then then'd close. Colleges are worse than high schools- we did have several snow days then- but I can only think of one day when any of the colleges closed, and that was during a big blizzard.

Like I said, it all depends though. And I hope I'm not scaring you- we haven't had any really bad winters lately, but it does get cold, and it tends to rain a lot through October and November.

The changing colors are worth it all, though. I really miss Michigan autumns.

[identity profile] auroryborealis.livejournal.com 2005-09-26 04:05 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, no, I was prepared for this. I was born here and lived here until I was five, so I have some vague memories of the weather. But I followed that with ten years in San Diego, and three about fifty miles southeast of LA, so I'm used to slightly warmer temperatures.

And I've heard great things about the fall. The colors have already started changing, and so far everyone thinks I'm a freak for being like, "Pretty! Look!" Of course, I've also been pointing out all the geese, which is something else I'm not used to.

[identity profile] soniabelmont.livejournal.com 2005-09-26 04:21 am (UTC)(link)
Ah, so you're something of a transplanted Michigander. :D

I've heard that about California- a friend of mine lives in the northern part, and mentioned that a rainshower can be the top story of evening news.

Aww, I *still* say that when the colors change. It's just so pretty, how can you not stop and look? And you'll be seeing more and more of the geese in the coming months, not to mention deer. If you drive at all, keep a very close eye out for 'em. Hunting season opens in about a week, and they'll be running all over the place.

[identity profile] auroryborealis.livejournal.com 2005-09-26 04:25 am (UTC)(link)
Oh yeah, I've seriously watched the news where they're like, "Tonight: Dangerous flooding in Ventura? We have startling footage!" And they show some shots of relatively light rain.

Ooh! Deer! I have a chipmunk that lives outside my building, which is awesome, and I think I saw a badger the other day. It's odd, seeing woodland creatures that aren't robots.

*g* If it comes to it, I have an iMac that's portable enough. I'll have to check into Airport for wireless connection, because I know it shows up in the Apple menu but I don't know if I actually have the software...
