"Taking back" is adopting a character. Adoptions are frozen. Having previously controlled the character gains you no special rights in this regard.

Adoptions which took place during the freeze period are against the rules and unrecognized. Any illegally adopted characters will find their memberships and/or posting accesses revoked. We must be kept in constant knowledge of who is playing what, and "under the table" dealings simply does not give us that information.
