reminders: graduation guests and senior plans!

Good morning, evening, afternoon or anything in between! Whatever time it is where you are, I hope it's treating you well! We've just got a few important reminders for you for this morning!

  • Graduation guests are due by TODAY, April 28. If you want family and friends to come to see your senior graduate, make sure you sign them up TODAY!
  • Senior plans are due by April 30th! Please let us know what your senior's going to be doing after they graduate!

And since sharing tiems is always fun, tell me players, what's the worst injury you've ever had? Because, seriously, we were all kids (or we're clumsy) and sharing war stories is always interesting. Me? Someone once dumped a bowl of scalding water on my thigh. HUGE second degree burn. Worst pain I have EVER FREAKING FELT IN MY LIFE.

The brain lesion was right on the back of my head - the soft honeycomb part. At school we had a top row and a bottom row of lockers with these really heavy duty, thick, solid metal doors. Mine was down the bottom. The girl up and one over had a habit of swinging her door out so far that it was right above me. So one day I go to get up and didn't realise she'd put the door out. I came up as one does with full speed pushing yourself up from crouching to standing and it got my head right in that soft spot on the corner of the very-much-not-moving door.

Mine have been freakish accidents with a healthy dose of "Hell yes I can fly just try and stop me!"

Ow ow ow ow ow I bet you saw stars for hours. If you didn't actually black out, that is, which seems more likely. Owwwwwww.

It does, I managed to burn the pad of my left index finger making a bechamel sauce few months back (It's not bubbling, can't be very hot, I'll just test it...BURNY HURTIES!) and even with bandaids on typing was a bitch until the blister healed.

Ooh, a chance to make [livejournal.com profile] heromaniac keysmash from flashbacks! I pulled the basement door shut behind me while standing on the top step (after chasing the cat away, which is always a balancing act to start with), then turned an completely missed the second. And the third. And the fourth. And the fifth. But not the wall at the bottom, which the back of my head smacked into, luckily not very hard. [livejournal.com profile] heromaniac, already in the basement, got to witness most of that, what with the yelling.

Bloodied my nose, blacked both eyes, broke my glasses so hard that I had a bruise on my face in the shape of them, and ended up with three stitches on my left eyelid, and hairline-fractured my left elbow.

Also a billion sprained ankles, one broken toe that's still effed up and my own fault for running out barefoot to the car at night and tripping on the sidewalk, nasty nasty burn on my stomach in high school from tipping a pyrex container of boiled water and spaghetti right onto me as I pulled it out of the microwave, and a horribly cut and bruised foot when I was wee and it got caught under a rocking see-saw.

And I'd have repeated any or all of those (well, maybe not the stairs, since that was scary) in trade for never having a gallstone attack. Seriously, worst pain I have ever had.

It was one of those blink and you'll miss it black outs. Just long enough to land on my ass. Then I took a few minutes to sit down and glare at the girl (I didn't like her anyway so it wasn't hard :D) and swear a lot and then I went to classes for the rest of the day. Then to the doctor, who sent me for the scan that proved I really do have a brain!

I've fallen off of my bike so many times that scraping skin off of my knees no longer hurts that much. Yeeeeeah.

My favorite injury story is from kindergarten though. My table partner and I sharpened our pencils and stood them up next to each other to see whose was still taller. (We were five, it was entertaining, shhhh.) All I remember is saying, "Ha ha, my pencil's taller," and she apparently got so upset that she took her freshly sharpened pencil and stabbed me in the back of my shoulder. For reals. Insert your own size queen drama joke here.

Also, if I break a bone for the first time today, I'm blaming this post.

I had a bike accident when I was, like, ten.

I hit a chain link fence at full speed. The bike stopped, momentum carried me forward, hitting the bar that led to the handlebars crotch first.

There was blood involved, that's how hard I hit that bar.

With my vulnerables.

I've had two stress fractures in my left leg (THANKS CROSS COUNTRY) and tendinitis in both my knees (CROSS COUNTRY AGAIN, UGH). Those are my most recent injuries (high school FTW).

When I was really little, my cousin winged a plastic water gun at my head and I had to get stitches. I still have a scar. Yeah, it's hot. ><;

I've gotten my right elbow smashed by a minivan sliding door by my friend when I was younger.

Um. OH! I chipped my front tooth while playing football in the front yard with my cousin. He threw me a pass and I dove for it. I caught it but my teeth made a new friend. (Hi rock hidden by the grass!) Fun times, indeed.

ONE MORE. I gave myself a glue gun burn in sixth grade -- my left hand still has the scar. I was working on a project for math class and the glue somehow got on my hand and instead of going OW OW OW OW RINSE IT OFF, I just sat there and stared at it. Delayed reaction for the win.

I've never had any major injuries. *knock on wood*

Most interesting ones?

When I was four years old, I took a potted cactus and put it at the foot of my slide. And then slid down onto it. I have a vague memory of doing this but NO CLUE why I thought it was a good idea at the time.

I slipped on some water at a party (inside water fight with alcohol) when I was about 20 and slammed my head onto the kitchen tiles. From what I've been told (as I have no memories from that night) I couldn't remember anything for more than five minutes and kept repeating things over and over. My drunk friends thought this was hilarious. Fortunately, my brain was working more or less normally when I woke up the next morning.

I was once stabbed in the arm with a sword. By a wild elf. I still have the scar.

Oh, I should add that I then walked home with my bike the block and a half to my house. Crying the entire time. And it took me twenty minutes.

...I could also share the story about when I was in kindergarten and I ended up walking home with a two inch wooden sliver in my buttcheek.

When I was about seven, I fell down the steps in my house. No bones were broken and no stitches were needed, but I did have a nasty rug burn on my face.

When I was eight, I slipped on a piece of paper (seriously), flew across the floor and slammed my toe into a wall. Just suffered a toe sprain, though.

That same year, I was hit in the stomach with a soccer ball. That hurt like hell but no serious side effects.

I've sprained many fingers in my life, as well, including the time I slammed one in a door. And it seems like I sprain an ankle at least once every few years, the last time being in January of 2008. It wasn't even from a weird accident or anything. I just twisted it somehow.

Somehow, I have never actually had any broken bones, and I never needed stitches from an injury.

YOU GAVE ME THE FLU.

As for injuries, I was born with a broken collarbone and because of that it's never set right and pops all the time, I've had numerous other broken bones (one time I broke my wrist I waited three days before going to the doctor), pitchfork through my leg, orthodontist pulled out an adult tooth without novocaine, more drunk injuries than I can count, threw up on an EMT after downing half a bottle of tequila and, last but not least, my knee cap floats around thanks to 10 years of basketball and soccer and it sometimes likes to pinch me.

And yet the worst injuries I've seen are the ones Mandy goes through that Nurse!me has to patch up via duct tape, glue and liquor.

BUT REMEMBER HOW YOU GAVE ME THE FLU?

I assume she did? I had to go to the doctor to get the graphite dug out of my shoulder, but I assume something happened to her. And she had to repeat kindergarten, so she ended up a year behind me and I never saw her after that year. :D

... yeah, it sucked. I can still feel part of the chipped, since I got a filling. :(
