Cabin fun for adults! Note: This is not a porn scenario
Just when you thought life couldn't get more interesting post-BDE, Fandom throws another curveball and this time it's aimed for the residents of Fandom Town! That's right, starting the Wednesday (8/11) following the BDE, the majority of town will become infested with a very specific breed of stolp bugs that are highly annoying, Celine Dion-crooning insects (and when we say annoying, we're talking singing at Speaker Setting 11, not 10). While the stolp bugs can be killed, they are a registered endangered species and so it would be a terrible thing to do more than drive them back to their natural habitat on the Isle of Ikea.
Now, fortunately the stolp bugs have made their way across the causeway before and so the solution is ready and waiting. The unfortunate part? The solution involves Neil Diamond, silver capes, and a really amazing stereo.
Needless to say, the houses and apartments on island will be quite unliveable for the six days it takes for the stolp bugs to lose the battle of the beating chest and flee back home. Luckily, the creatures can't seem to navigate their way through the gate to the dorms or into the preserve. Realizing the danger she is in should her VP and Dean of Students suffer through too much bad music, our fair and wise principal will invite the afflicted residents to stay in the cabins.
Oh yes. Those cabins.
Starting Thursday evening (8/12), the residents will be assigned to one of the fabulous cabins that Fosse and his staff have hastily cleaned and prepared. The Neil Diamond musical extravaganza will begin bright and early Friday morning and end late Wednesday night, allowing the residents to return home on Thursday (8/19).
Residents with pets are welcome to bring them along to the cabins or handwavily kennel them at Everything But the Monkey in town. Businesses will not be infested because this particular type of stolp bug is attracted specifically to dwellings. The managers of MCA, MHA, and The Arms Hotel have OOCly and joyfully agreed to have their spaces infested. While we encourage participation, owners of houses on the island are free to opt out, and apartment/hotel dwellers can either put up with the Neil Diamond cure, or move in with someone in an unaffected house, if the cabin option isn't to their liking. Everyone is also free to flee the island, as with other events, but come on, who doesn't want to torment their adults for once?
Since the townies and teachers are all adults, there are no specific IC rules for the cabins, but it would do players well to review the standard OOC cabin information and guidelines for posting. Getting it on in the tiny alcoves will likely be met with cabinmate justice. Remember, OOC communication is your friend!
Like with summer cabins for students, participants have the option of being randomly assigned to a cabin on their own or they can sign up with a partner (someone they'd like to share a cabin with). Each cabin has 8 people in it, so once cabin sign-ups close, pairs will be allocated to cabins and then anyone who's a single will be slotted in as well.
Using the OCD thread below, sign up as a single OR sign up in pairs with one person commenting to the main thread and the other person commenting collapsey-style beneath the first person to verify that they do want to be partnered up. Since we aren't requiring the move to the cabins, we do need to know everyone who wants a spot so we don't leave off any characters! Sign ups will close on Sunday 8/8 at 11pm EST.
