So There's These Creepy Dolls...
Sent by Ingvar, yes, who 1) just doesn't know any better, and 2) thanks to contamination from the Arkham-acquired eldritch horror juice might be a little tiny bit, um. Evil. Just a little bit! Not a lot! Mostly! Look, the important thing is that his parents love him, ok?
Anyway, uncanny dollies! And they're wandering all over the island!
Everywhere?
Yup, everywhere, including the dorms. They can get in anywhere there's an open door or window, pretty much like gremlins. However, the ones in the dorms will be on the downlow and not trying to kill anybody unless the character is alone. Someone else enters the room? POOF. Barbie-mode! The doll will pretend to be an inanimate object. So avoidance of the phenomenon if you don't want your character to participate will be pretty easy.
Are they all gonna try to kiiiiill us?
Nope! Not all the dolls are evil.
Some of them will try to hurt people, by biting, tripping, stabbing, sucking out souls with their freaky, freaky eyes, suffocating you under a mob of naked babydolls, you name it. Anything you can reasonably imagine a magically-animated creature of that size trying to do. They're persistent, but you can destroy them eventually with crushing or fire, you can teleport them away somewhere if that's your thing, or you can lock them in a box/closet/etc. They'll thump around in there, but they won't be able to get out. Probably.Unless you want them to.
Some, however, are just mischevious and will stalk or otherwise try to freak out your character. Tiny little skittering footsteps, giggling in the dark. Sitting innocently on your bed until your back is turned, then the next time you look, they're in a different position...
Some mean no harm at all; they're just, well. Creepy, both visually, and to those with magical/aura senses. Not their fault, and they really just want to be loved and hugged and played with. Which kind of doll(s) your characters run into are up to you!
What do they look like?
Any of the dolls found here, or if you're modding your own, feel free to expand on that, mix and match features, come across a possessed Bratz or Barbie doll. It's all good, as long as they're basically humanoid - no teddy bears or walking erector sets, not dirty. No specific-fictional-character dolls, but brands are fine: Chucky is out, but if you want to meet another freaky Good Guy doll, go for it.
Most of the dolls will walk/crawl according to their physical appearance, though some can move freakily fast, especially when you're not looking. A few of the more ghostly-looking ones can also levitate.
A few of them will be able to talk, but their vocabulary is limited to what you might expect from that type of doll. "MA-ma!" "PLAY with me!" "My name is Talky Tina and I don't LIKE you..."
So we have to mod our own?
No, if you'd like an NPC, we've got a request thread in the comments, as well as a sign-up thread to be an NPC. But you can mod your own dollies. If you're looking for more creeping and less fighting, modding might be more fun or convenient.
It followed me home. Can I keep it?
Freak.
No, seriously, can I keep it?
Yes, if your character adopts a creepy doll and you want them to keep it after the invasion is over, go ahead.Freak. However, once midnight hits and Thursday turns into Friday, Ingvar's magic will leave the dolls and they'll be completely inanimate. Still creepy, but just dolls.
Any other questions? There'san app a thread for that.
