So now that it's TECHNICALLY spring...
... in the Northern Hemisphere, anyway, regardless of whether or not it actually feels like such wherever you may be, I bring to you news of Fandom's newest shenanigans, as suggested by the lovely
spin_kick_snap. Who I cribbed most of this infopost from:
So, March has a traditional saying "In like a lion, out like a lamb" which is at least moderately dumb, but hey, it's had some sticking power at least. But 2018's March has been pretty mild, which is both great if you hate the cold but also terrible if you acknowledge things like 'climate change.'
Also pretty terrible if you happen to be either that lion or that lamb. Neither of them really got to do their thing this year and clearly, That Cannot Stand. And thus, they've decided to focus all their power and do their thing in one place in particular: Fandom Island.
Soooo the last full weekend in March (24-25), the Snow Lion is gonna come roaring in with a giant storm. The kind that kills power for the weekend, dumps a ton of snow and ice everywhere, and drags the temperatures waaaaay down. By Monday, the power is back on, but there's a winter wonderland outside--about three months too late. It lasts a week, with people able to do winter activities--and then by Friday or Saturday, it melts, the temperature returns to whatever, and green grass and flowers take over the island. A happy little spring lamb bounds away and all is "normal" (at least, Fandom normal) again.
...The fact that the following weekend is Easter and there's the whole lamb symbolism thing is NOT lost on us.
Friday, March 23: The Lion comes roaring in, bringing a three day snowstorm.
Sat-Sun, March 24/25: No power due to THUNDERSNOW STORM BOMB CYCLONE! (Apparently this is a real thing that happens?)
Monday, March 26: Frost designs over all windows and mirrors that move and suggest fun winter activities
Tuesday, March 27: Hills pop up all through the Preserve and the park, just high enough to get some skiing in. Or some dynamite sledding. OR BOTH!
Wednesday, March 28: The streets ice over and everybody wakes up to find ice skates in their closet.
Thursday, March 29: GREMLINS SNOWBALL FIIIIGHT
Friday, March 30: The weetiny snow angels from winter advents past make a return! And Aurora Borealis is visible in the sky at night, but that's just pretty.
Saturday, March 31: Green grass, flowers everywhere, the lamb bounces away, spring returns.
Questions, comments, offerings of creamsicles?
