In jail today...

Hey... Since I'm going to be in jail for a bit... (Until Principal Connor breaks me out apparently)

I'm taking a break from posting today.

Hey [livejournal.com profile] call_me_red_ac, if there's anything you want to try and do with our budding relationship/tragedy feel free to post here so we can work out any details. I feel like my little escapades are pulling away from your glorious portrayal of character.

Anyone who doesn't want spoilers... turn your eyes.

Dude, I'm kind of stuck. Angela is neither an idiot nor violent herself. At first I thought she was just covering her ears and singing LALALALA about the Junior Achievers club and Marty's connection to it, but now that the detectives are questioning her and she seems to kind of know about JA, though I don't think she knows anything except that Marty talked to Angelus about it. (Which she isn't going to tell the detectives unless they directly ask her.) By all rights, she should decide Marty is bad news and walk away. Which I don't want to do.

Last night I was thinking about asking Angelus to vamp her, for real. But that seems a tad extreme.

One thing I was thinking of is this: It's canon that Angela's parents' marriage isn't in great shape, and I've been using that. If they announce that they plan to divorce, I can see Angela kind of melting down, and if Marty is around when that happens ... you see where I'm going?

We might need to do this in slo-mo, though. Let it be awkward and weird until suspicion is off Marty in the missing students case. Unless he is guilty?

Yeah, I hope you aren't guilty too. Marty is just too great a character.

(Though I'm not sure there's anyone I *do* want to have be guilty, come to that.)

Let's go for weird and awkward until the time seems right for her big meltdown. Homecoming weekend might be fun.

Also, when exactly are you playing Marty? You seem to be doing an AU with him as a young assassin -- is that right? Is he old enough that it's going to add another complication, legally speaking? (Angela is 16.)

Yeah, parents' weekend would work. It's not until the end of October, though, so that might be a lot of time to play weird and awkward if the missing students storyline wraps up quickly. Let's just see how everything else goes.

As for the police station ... yeah, Angela sang like a canary and is likely to regret it. But it wouldn't be any fun if she always did the wise thing. I'm assuming she won't get herself killed.

Heh. Don't drop the soap, Marty.

Let's see if white knight-age is needed, but it's good to have that in my back pocket in the interest of not getting my character killed. Thanks. (Though, actually? Blustering in and trying to rescue her when she is Handling It on her own would probably be a good way to piss A. off, especially if he gets a little triggerhappy and ends up seeming to make the situation worse.)

As for how to let Angela know ... hmmm. The scene I have in my head is kind of stolen from the movie -- he tells her and she doesn't believe him, and then later Angelus or another JA member makes it perfectly clear that it's exactly true and she's all "why didn't you TELL me?" and he's all "I did, you just didn't listen." I want it to be both funny and angsty, if possible.

I *love* Marcella.

Anyhow, I like the idea of Angela asking the Big Question. I'm going to wait until the fallout won't get lost in the investigation, though.

She might even find someone else to flirt with for a while, which will further make Marty crazy. And he can do the same, thus adding to the overall crazy and to the angst.

This will kick ass.

Heh. I made a meta Lloyd Dobler comment at the slumber party.

As for other things to do with Angela -- not really. As you noted upthread, I'm more a character writer than a big plot writer; I have a handful of ideas for her, but mostly I'm still just seeing what's going on and reacting as it comes up. Is there anything else she should do that would help you with Marty?

Oh, god, now I want to make a Debbie entirely so no one else can.

My posting time varies based on my job, but usually I check in when I first get to work, during lunch, and at the end of the day, and I'll come on after dinner if I'm feeling obsessed enough. It sounds like we line up best in morning and late afternoon, assuming you're in eastern time.

Awesome. I'm home now, FWIW (no movies we wanted to see), so we just might catch up with each other.

Oh yeah, that would end well. Her last boyfriend couldn't even teach the girl to drive.

Hey, so you know -- I'm asking River what she told you Monday. Hopefully she'll stop short of the assassin bit. (Did she know that, or just about Debi? Am too lazy to refnd thread.)

Not yet, but I do think Angela should know he isn't telling the whole truth and that should strain their relationship. I feel like this is too early for the reveal, and we should wait until either a good JA plot or Angela's homecoming meltdown.

What do you think?

I think you're right about the Firefly canon. I told River not to tell Angela, anyhow (see below).

And BWAH on your plot idea. We should definitely get in some tme at the gun range this week.

I'm Marty's worst nightmare? *g* I have to check that thread out.

Seriously, use Angela however you want. The only things I would be likely to veto would be explicit sex (if she had it, I would want to write it) or anything that would physically injure her in the game (I don't want to have to write around that). Thanks for the offer to let me review, though.
