Guys... the weapons ban and the rest of it are a direct result of in-character-actions leading to in-character-consequences.
Please try to separate the game admin players from the school admin characters.
The decisions about weapons and the like were made by Principal Connor and Spider Jerusalem in order to protect their students. The game admin couldn't care less about whether or not you shoot each other up until it comes down to player compaints about same. Which it did, admittedly, but that's not the point.
OOC carrying on will not get the ban lifted. Period. Full stop. It's not the game admin you need to convince... but the school admin. IE, the characters who made the ban.
IC work on your fellow students and IC suggestions of a practical nature as well as guarantees of accountability directed to
jerusalem_s and
principalconnor are what will be required.
Edit: Please note. Evil is good. Evil is fine... but take a look at the staff roster for a minute. If you really want to be evil and get away with it, shooting for subtle will get you a lot further. Otherwise, you're gonna get a lot of detentions and ass-kicking. I mean, c'mon. Do you REALLY want Gandalf showing up at your door with a sorrowful expression and rover in tow?
Further Edit (because I'm still not feeling well and keeping realizing I left things off): Good example here. Draco = Evil. Angelus = Evil. Draco isn't even raising eyebrows 'cause he's subtle. Angelus, being IC a bit of raging bull in a china shop, is attracting a lot of attention. All is IC. All is good.

Though I do have to ask would Jonathan's fear toxin count as a weapon? Because if so, that could be an interesting plotline *g*

And frankly, I'd like to be able to play the game. Character has classes. Character has friends she'd like to interact with. Character can't do that if she has to dump all that to petition the principal in game for stuff that was basically player and not character wank.

OMG who told?????

Thanks. I managed to get ice cream through my nose, and onto my computer.
There were SPRINKLES in it, for god's sake!
On the other hand, I love you a lot.

What does bother me is that people feel the need to complain about how other people play the game. I can imagine a few extreme situations in which that might be appropriate -- e.g., repeated harassment of or violence towards a character whose writer has made it clear that s/he isn't interested in that storyline -- but I haven't seen anything in the game that would rise to that level, and I'm not sure the complaints are even coming from the alleged victims. (Though I don't read the admin's email, and it's entirely possible I just haven't been paying attention.)
I don't want to say "if you don't like it, don't read it," but ... yeah. That's kind of where I am.

Teacher/student violence, suggested violence, etc... that does directly impact the school as a whole.
Threatening/frightening notes in a public place... directly impacts the people who move/work in that public place.
If you throw something like that out where the world can see it... it affects everyone. This is a closed environment. It is completely IC for everyone to be affected, and those who do NOT want their characters affected by something that's the equivalent of dropping food coloring into the shared swimming pool have every right to complain.
It is also our right to tell them to suck it up and, frankly, if both things weren't guaranteed to IC upset any student with an ounce of timidity or naivete (and yes, we have them and they have as much right to be here as anyone) then we probably would have.
It's about having respect for your fellow players wanting to remain IC without having their characters terrified/traumatized.
From now on, if anyone wants to do something that is going to affect the student body as a whole (and I mean that in a psychological sense, not in a 'gremlins run amuck' sense) they're going to have to check with the admin first. That we HAVE the option of being sure that the more sensitive characters won't have to deal with the crap they have no interest in being involved in.

So to me, deciding "yes, this would likely be a traumatic event, but my character won't react to it unless directly prompted" isn't any different from not making Angela obsess about tiny cell phones. It's all using OOC concerns to determine IC reactions.
But, like I said in my original comment, I totally respect the amount of work that goes into this community, and I'm not arguing with your decisions, merely reacting to them.
Cookery and the weapons ban
I've included an admonition about the policy in the post concerned.
