Bowing Out

I really hate to do this, because some of you have been so fun to play with, but it has become increasingly obvious that my characters don't quite fit into this game, or at least how I am playing them doesn't work. I've tried organizing things, interjecting them into situations, etc. but it doesn't seem to be jiving. It is probably my utter lack of knowledge or interest in science-fiction, and there really isn't a lot for my characters to do in this game besides play one note reactions of "Woah, what the hell is that?" and hide in a corner. I also can't keep up with 125+ post days with a single event, even being online all the time, and two of the major events for my characters (Homecoming and Elections) it looks like will be falling on the short period I will offline (stupid job) so I'm hoping maybe someone could pick up these characters who might be better at intergrating them into the community and can have them actually participate in the things I've set them up for.

I will gladly give you an overly-verbose, mind-numbingly detailed rundown of the characters and what I've done with them so far...

lisacuddy
- works in the Clinic, runs the Science Club, is running for Student Council, lives in the dorms, takes 4 classes that I can update you on.

iwasawesome (Lilly Kane)
- lives off campus, has a massive crush on Rover (but really, who doesn't), takes 4 classes if those Sex Ed classes ever start up, and is running Homecoming

drgrissom
- teaches 3 Sociology classes, lives in the dorms next to Sara Sidle and Gandalf, performs various disgusting experiments, helps out the FTPD and in the coroner's office as necessary with his mad skillz, IS A PAID ACCOUNT which is fun.

mrsvandekamp
- Teaches Home Ec 101, lives off campus with a few other teachers, and... I haven't done much with her to be honest. Slacking on my pimping, as it were.

No one's fault but my own, I just can't figure how to navigate this so my characters can actually participate, and it is getting draining and losing its charm putting in a lot of organizational effort in and not being able to do the fun part.

Thanks everyone! I understand this is a shot-in-the-dark, but they are great characters and I'd love to see at least one of them survive. IF you'd rather pick up one of their activities with an established character, that might work. I can pass along all my prep stuff.

Her classes were great, but I just wasn't able to get her any other plots! I will probably keep her classes going if no one wants her until the next enrollment, just because it is not too much effort (just 2x a week posts, I can do that) But thank you for playing with her!

I'm sorry to see those characters go; I had enjoyed my brief interactions with Lilly and Dr. Grissom, and Bree is always fun to read. Unfortunately, they're all in fandoms I don't really know (plus I couldn't live up to your Lilly), so I can't take anybody on.

I wish we could talk you into keeping at least one of them.

I'd love to keep them all, but I can't do their major events, and that's kind of what they've been reduced to because I am a crappy player. I think I just had the wrong idea of how this game would play out, or how I could fit in. :) But thank you, you've been very sweet.

I know it's been really hard as a townie to get anyone to interact with me and I've spent a great deal of time thread crashing and just hanging out hoping for someone to interact with...hoping to pick up the others who don't have a firm fandombase to sink in to.

It's still a slow process for me.

I know there are other characters in the game that are trying to get a base together that aren't 1) drinkers, 2) sexin', 3)party animals, 4) flirters, ad 5) balls to the walls action/violence/weapons oriented. They tend to get lost in the noise of the daily highschool angst and drama.

Sorry to see you go. It's been fun watching your characters. As I read your list, I recognized each one and were ones that I read regularly.

That is a really great idea. I don't mean to whine about being disenfranchised or something, I mean, I love to whine, but I don't mean it this time. *heh* I find myself doing the same type of thing when it comes to threadcrashing and other icky behaviors - I do wish you luck.

Have you thought about trying to keep one or two? You've got so many characters, I can understand how it'd be hard to keep up!

But you've done a great job so far, and it seems to me that your characters have been pretty involved. I mean, it's just not possible for everyone to be involved with everything here, so I can see how you feel that you're missing things. If you're not totally sick of the game, I'd suggest picking just one character to keep, and work on getting that one more involved. Talk to people that you've interacted with, or would like to interact with, and let them know what you'd like to have happen.

It actually isn't the number of characters at all. The sheer volume of posts that my characters really can't be a part of is a problem, but I can pretty much play all day at my job so...

The problem is
- because of dates being set out of my control, my characters can't be there for the things they are involved in. Lilly can't go to Homecoming, Lisa won't be there for elections...
- the nature of the game makes me kind of uncomfortable. I don't like excessive violence, gunplay, etc. Sure, every once and a while for comic effect (Bree likes her guns, for example. Lilly's dead so there is something to work with there.) is fine, but I don't want to make my characters violent, or have their interactions constantly shaped by violence.

My only real avenues are playing on the sidelines with the few people in my fandoms, but that really wasn't what I had in mind, and they seem to have intergrated themselves a lot better than I have, I hope due to my lack of knowledge when it comes to applicable texts and not me exclusively being a bonehead. Grissom's interactions outside class are non-existant due to the feel of this game, for example. It ends up being a ton of effort to post and organize classes, homecoming meetings, science club meetings, etc. but never just being able to play. I thought being involved in those ways would be the solution, but I was wrong.

With Grissom I only got a "if no one else will do it" offer, so I'll keep his classes going until the next big enrollment which should be soon I think. If you want to do a plot with him, go ahead.

As for Lilly, I'll be handing her over in a few days, if you want to play with "me" and can do tomorrow or the next day... or you can ask New!Lilly.

House and Lisa havne't had much chance to interact, but...she was one person he could count on. So that really sucks.

I am sad to see you go. I enjoyed interacting with Lisa, when Grissom asked House for the blood supply from the clinic, and Boone's in the Home Ec class.

I loved interacting with Cuddy in the clinic (seriously, one of the funniest moments I've had in the game) and I loved Grissom's class like whoa and joking with Lilly over Homecoming and Johnina.

Totally gonna miss your classes, I really liked them a lot. Grissom is my favorite CSI person out of the guys, I was very happy to see him on the fandom high. Sorry to see you go, I liked the way you played him and his scenes with Angelus were some of my favorites in the Fandom High.

It isn't that I can't keep up so much is that my limited knowledge leaves my characters in the background with a WTF? look on their face during all these major plots. I know nothing about Sci-Fi/Action/Whatever. I can't play it, sadly. I wish I could, because everyone here is awesome, but Cuddy was reduced to hiding behind Angelus for most of Zombie weekend, and that's just no fun. If I knew how to get a rifle in her hands and have her go nuts, I would, but I'm not into writing violence for the duration. Same for Grissom and Bree - but someone is picking up Lilly! So that's good.

But you are great fun, and thanks for the thought. Cuddy has been retired, feel free to sub someone in her place. I'm keeping the journal if I ever can squeeze her into an RPG that I can understand. *heh*
