An OOC plea.
Okay. Spider is totally losing his temper over the entire weapons thing.
Arguing that you need weapons because some of your fellow students are inhumans or capable of violence is driving him up the wall. This is the man who stood above an armed slaughter of people with alien DNA and screamed his defiance to the world, got the killing to stop, and then got the shit stomped out of him for his efforts... and carried on regardless.
That ever-present three-eyed smiley face is a permanent reminder of that, and you'll notice how prevelant it is in his life.
He's due for an IC explosion of epic proportions pretty soon if people don't come up with a better argument. Pleading self-defense against a group of people who, for the most part, come from persecuted backgrounds isn't really the brightest of arguments and he'll be happy to point that out. Punishing the inhumans for what they are also means that the people who are good at unarmed combat will be punished too - because Spider's fair like that.
Please consider the blood pressure of your Journalism Professor and his dedication to truth, justice and the equality of all sentient beings (not including the crackhead AI in his maker)... and come up with something better before he flips out and makes the ban both permanent and mandatory... or gives in to your demands on the grounds of personal safety and totally segregates the normals and makes sure they have armed escorts at all times to be sure they feel safe.
... and he's the sort of bastard who'd do it too.
Please find a better reason... argue responsible use... claim psychological dependancy... but don't let the students who blame the inhumans for their insecurity do your arguing. Not with Spider, anyway. He'd be happy to be 'fair' about the weapons ban by screwing everyone over equally... and please let's not go there.

Edit: Because, let's face it. The STUPIDEST thing to do when confronted by a panicky mob is to give them weapons and license to use them on the people they're afraid of. And that's exactly how he'd see it.
Further Edit: Coming home to another fifty comments means I'm disabling comments for the moment. I have other admin stuff to do and mostly just wanted to register my plea to please not drive my character IC insane.
For the record: In no country I know of are the rules of a High School meant to be 'fair'. 'Fair' is the perogative of the administrators and, frankly, is usually put aside in favor of protecting the students. Asking the school admin to be 'fair' won't get you far.
As advised, get together a small consortium of sane people willing to argue responsible use and gun registration, and you'll get a lot farther than waving your arms and screaming about 'fair'. Even Spider's not nuts enough to think that keeping a group like this under control can be done constitutionally.
