More Fandom Radio
Sorry. Barbossa-mun is now awake and ready to take your comments, complaints, suggestions and everything else.
Fandom Radio really does walk a strange line between IC and OOC. Currently, when we pull conversations for the daily recaps, we pull threads that are not marked private, OOC, or open to only a few eyes (or ones that are open to everyone but Ash, or Lee, just to think of a few examples in the last couple of days). We could restrict our recaps to things posted in the major communities, ignoring the conversations and plots that are running wild in individual journals, or take the whole thing OOC and report on everything that's happening for players to know and characters to have no idea about, like Logan's player suggested.
I had always thought of the broadcasts as being IC, with the links being for the general information of the players behind the characters, and I know other players have been treating it with varying degrees of IC and OOC. If we want to use this entry as a place to hammer out a final decision on how the radio station will be perceived by the general Fandom population, I think that can't be anything but a good idea.
When we first put the radio station together, I asked the players at the time what they wanted included, and the consensus seemed to be anything that wasn't marked as specifically locked would be fair game for the Pirate and his buccaneer crew to go nutty with. If you would like that changed, please let us know and we'll fix it from here out.
Finally, thank you all for your support of the radio station, both IC and OOC. I know I couldn't pull it together every night without the help from Faith, Ash, and Veronica's players.
Fire away.

How I'm treating this? Depends a bit, I see it more as the grapevine and sometimes let my character know a rumour here and there, but rarely the details unless he was actually there.

As for this debate of how you come by this information - its a high school! I remember people telling me about things they knew that she *shouldn't* have known anything about... but they did. High school grapevines are scary.

Oh how true. Even if someone doesn't /know/ something, if Person A tells Person B that she suspects thing X, by the time it gets to Person H, it's the gospel truth.

Of course, it helps that I come from the sort of dysfunctional household where there are things you "know" and things you "officially know."

Sorry to stir up trouble! But it's probably good that we all understand how other people are viewing the radio broadcasts.
It sounds like most people are happy with the radio as-is. I guess the general rule is, the character only knows what the DJ *says*, while the mun can read the link.
A [DNB] (Do Not Broadcast) tag (as suggested in the other thread) might not hurt if people want to get specific. OTOH, if it's public, there's always a chance that someone will see it and report it to the radio.

Maintaining this comm, which is a huge service and requires a great deal of time, effort and creativity, should be applauded and appreciated.
Individual players need to take responsibility for the OOC/IC line and if there's some sort of issue with

And, y'know, this is sort of my fault... Shane made a comment in her journal about hearing something on FHR and feeling not exactly happy with what she'd heard. OOC, I have absolutely no problems with how FHR is being done. At all. Just for the record. I think the DJs do an awesome, awesome job (I never snirked as hard as I did when I read Ash's second broadcast) and I definitely don't wanna cause any trouble for them.
So... re: the original IC comment. There was no harm or offense intended, honest.

Granted, the only thing I've had broadcast that I'd rather not have had is that Rory bought a gift that was intended to be a surprise. But thanks to slowtime, that wasn't even a problem.
I guess I sort of think of the radio as I do with my college radio, thrown together with my newspaper's gossip column. I have no problem with it, and you all seem to be very good-natured about what you broadcast. I have yet to see anyone intentionally try to defame someone else (with the exception of Ash, who seems to be out to defame everyone - and who I adore, by the way).
I just wanted to let the wonderful people over at
I know this is a bit late, but I just got home and I wanted to let our DJs know how I feel. :)

Walking the fine line
I'd love for it to get more OOC, just because I know of threads they haven't hit, that really deserve to be seen and cause monitor-spittage by one and all. But more than that I *don't* want it any more restricted -- otherwise it just becomes a summary of the community posts for the day, and I can do that myself pretty easily. (I want links to the dirt! The fights! The pranks! ;-)
Just my $.02

If necessary, maybe a disclaimer in the comm info to clarify this; otherwise, seems like most of us love the station as-is.

Whatever you decide to do, I love what you've been doing. It is a thing of great beauty and amusement!

Otherwise I love it. You might have bothered Daniel (well, Ash did) but that's IC stuff.
Oh and if you're ever looking for a guest DJ, Elizabeth and Jonathan would love to DJ. Just give me plenty of advance in case I happen to disappear XD
