Parent's Weekend

OMG IDEA! Could we make it a four day Parent's Weekend, tacking Friday and Monday on, so the parents can have lots more time for snark and parental angst and general SILLYNESS?! (Also because some of us will be MIA this weekend in particular, it would be able to prolong the playtime!!!)


AAAAAAAAAAAND, we need to know where to sign up all our parent lj names and ... do they get to join fandomhigh or OR OR OR (I'm excited, hang me!) OR OR OR we could have something like fandomparents and then the parent snark could ALWAYS BE THERE (you know how high schools and colleges these days have newsletters for parents and even messageboards and crazy things like that.)


Just some thoughts. :)


ETA: Okay, as people are completely freaking out: I guess my point comes down to this: Where in this massive text-based RPG with moderated comms are the parents going to play this weekend? Thank you.

Lee? Can you come back to earth for a moment? The enthusiasm is lovely, but subject and the timing? Not so much.

Now, don't get me wrong - I think incorporating some sort of organization for parents into the game at some point in time could be very interesting, but I don't think that time is now. This is the sort of thing that really needs an admin all its own, just like fandomtownies did and all the admins we have? Are kinda sorta really busy at the moment. And I'd really, really prefer to not add anything to their plates if it's at all possible at the moment.

I don't mean to be harsh here, but I thought the realities of the situation ought to be made clear. Sorry.

Regardless of that, there needs to be SOME sort of set-up in the first place for the parents to come in and be parenty with everyone and I've yet to see anything be put in place outside Rory's post. As people who aren't members of the communities can't post or comment on those comms, where are the parents going to post in the first place? Is it going to be restricted to personal journals?

*nods* PW should be lengthened. Definitely. There's too much stuff that's planned for everything to fit into two days. Especially with the weekends being so busy for people. Good thought.

Also think fandom_pta would rock. I'd watch it just for Narcissa/Darla brawls. Hee!

I don't think it's nice to smack a player for making a suggestion. A simple "Thanks for the suggestion, we're working on it" would've been sufficient. There are already people afraid to approach the mods. This just adds to it.

I think the idea is to have the students start a post wherever as usual, and then the 'rents/etc. tag along there. There will be a few specific posts for events, but it shouldn't take over the comm forever, it is just an opportunity to interact with the peeps back home for a few days.

As for expanding it to Monday, PLEASE NOES! I'm already putting my regular characters on ice for a few days to play for other people, but I'd like to be back to normal on Monday with my classes, participation, etc. because I work, and I can't be 100% reliable to be available to people I promised to play with, which isn't cool, and if I had known Monday was in the mix I would have never offered in the first place, ya know?

The admin are turning off non-friend comment screening in the comms for the weekend. Parents are subsidiary characters to their students and will not be making separate comm posts themselves, unless that particular parent is already a part of the game proper.
