[livejournal.com profile] fh_weather

We should expect thunderstorms tomorrow.

*sends a few burly people to help push the vehicle out of the snowbank left at the end of the driveway went the plows went by*

[identity profile] apocalypsesoon.livejournal.com 2005-11-17 04:17 pm (UTC)(link)
*sends jumpercables because the battery doesn't have the cold cranking amps of a housefly*

[identity profile] carter-i-am.livejournal.com 2005-11-17 04:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Ooh, jumper cables.

*sends four ice scrapers*

[identity profile] apocalypsesoon.livejournal.com 2005-11-18 12:11 am (UTC)(link)
Woot!

*12pack of lock de-icer*

[identity profile] carter-i-am.livejournal.com 2005-11-18 12:22 am (UTC)(link)
*sends winshield washer fluid with antifreeze*

[identity profile] apocalypsesoon.livejournal.com 2005-11-18 12:40 am (UTC)(link)
*sends blinker fluid and winter air for the tires. Oh, and some driving gloves*

[identity profile] carter-i-am.livejournal.com 2005-11-18 12:44 am (UTC)(link)
*sends a flashlight, flares, a warm blanket for the trunk*

[identity profile] apocalypsesoon.livejournal.com 2005-11-18 01:21 am (UTC)(link)
Heh. One Christmas, I made 4 or 5 winter packs for my friends, including a cheap blanket, a folding shovel, jumper cables, and lock de-icer. Didn't do flares, though...

*sends folding trench shovel to dig the car out*

[identity profile] carter-i-am.livejournal.com 2005-11-18 01:43 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, I don't like the folding shovels--they always collapse under the weight of the snow. Maybe they're just not tested for Buffalo winters.

[identity profile] apocalypsesoon.livejournal.com 2005-11-18 02:02 am (UTC)(link)
HRm. I use the army surplus trench shovel thing, and it didn't help when I parked like an ass and got stuck last winter. >_< Which reminds me, I need to do the kitty litter thing... or just buy something more snow worthy. >_<

I see your Buffalo and raise you Detroit Lake Effect. :P

[identity profile] carter-i-am.livejournal.com 2005-11-18 02:03 am (UTC)(link)
Dude, Buffalo has Lake Effect. I went home for Christmas break one year and we got 7 feet of snow in one weekend (four days).

Rock salt's also good, if you can't get kitty litter.

[identity profile] apocalypsesoon.livejournal.com 2005-11-18 02:08 am (UTC)(link)
YEah, but people in Buffalo don't shoot each other while using the snowbower. ;)

Or, I could just sell the truck and get something smaller (and rear wheel drive).

Or see if the water-filled pool raft idea works.

[identity profile] carter-i-am.livejournal.com 2005-11-18 02:14 am (UTC)(link)
Well, no, but they do die when the porch roof collapses from the weight of the snow because they didn't shovel it off.

I thought front wheel drive was better for snow?

What idea is that?

[identity profile] apocalypsesoon.livejournal.com 2005-11-18 02:24 am (UTC)(link)
wow. that's bad.

generally, yes, but I'm too used to rear wheel drive in snow.

fill pool rafts halfway with water, build framing out of 2x2s and cover with plywood to add weight over the drive axles

[identity profile] carter-i-am.livejournal.com 2005-11-18 02:29 am (UTC)(link)
Yep. Happens almost every year, too.

Oh, I guess that makes sense. Except that then you have to redo all that work when the weather warms up enough to melt the ice, don't you?

[identity profile] apocalypsesoon.livejournal.com 2005-11-18 02:46 am (UTC)(link)
Nah, when it gets warm enough, I'll just take the pool rafts out and drain 'em for next year and either take apart the 2x2s and plywood and store 'em or just store 'em as is.

This would go underneath my current 2x2 and plywood drawer. 'cept if I build this thing, I'll totally put rollers on it. *steals a hearse*

[identity profile] carter-i-am.livejournal.com 2005-11-18 02:51 am (UTC)(link)
Detroit doesn't defrost and then get pummelled by snow again (and again and again)?

*sticks fingers in ears* Lalalala

[identity profile] apocalypsesoon.livejournal.com 2005-11-18 03:07 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, yeah. But if I make this so that the rafts won't burst from the amount of ice, then it should have no problem.

I need to put rollers under my drawer. >_< stupid plywood...

[identity profile] carter-i-am.livejournal.com 2005-11-18 03:13 am (UTC)(link)
Okay. I'll take your word for it.

[identity profile] apocalypsesoon.livejournal.com 2005-11-18 03:33 am (UTC)(link)
Same idea as this, minus being anchored and made from plywood with 2x2 rails
I want one. ;_____;
