Detention and the Lottery for September 9
Howdy. This is a post about detention. Please read it. I'll give you a cookie. But they're NOT made of kittens, Alec and Al.
Detention at Fandom High is technically supposed to be an IC punishment for IC actions. Teachers can sign up to run detentions during the Saturday![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
fh_office posts and will be expected to be ready to run it on the Saturday they signed up for (teachers who sign up as a backup should be prepared, too, just in case the primary can't do it or no primary signs up). There's a lovely reminder of who's running this week's detention in the DETENTION thread of every weekday office post. Except for this week where we have nobody signed up. In weeks such as this, running the detention falls to The Tick.
Since detentions take place in the Danger Shop, you can do just about whatever you want to the students within reason. That means no harming them. You can use hologram NPCs, but please remember that they are merely holograms and thus those characters have no canon in Fandom. If the NPCs are characters from your canon, feel free to address them by name. If you go with NPCs from other fandoms where your character wouldn't actually know them, they can be used but must remain unnamed. I also ask that you run any such NPCs by me before using them.
Students, if you get detention you're there from approximately 9:00 EST to 5:00 EST (depending on when the post goes up). You can have a little wiggle room in the morning to do a quick pre-detention scene, I won't fault you for that. After that, due to continuity rules, any live playing your character does should be in there only until detention is dismissed or 5:00. If playing detention runs past 5:00 for whatever reason, please try to finish it out if possible, but feel free to focus elsewhere.
You can easily arrange to receive detention with a teacher, or with an admin. ICly do something wrong or speak out of line or fight somebody on school grounds where there are faculty and cameras, and you can get one. All faculty should make sure the student OOCly knows beforehand that a detention will be received if the student continues certain behavior.
And now the important info which I save for the end:
All detentions must be reported in thefh_office DETENTION thread. If it's not there, I probably didn't see it so the student doesn't get put on the list.
If you can't attend a detention you're scheduled to attend, please let me know. Teacher, student, whatever. Arrangements can always be made. A backup teacher can be found or an alternate punishment can be given. I'm creative, I'll think of something.
Only students assigned detention can be in detention. If this is meant to be a punishment, students shouldn't be able to bring friends who didn't earn it. However, if the teacher allows, friends can visit during the brief lunch period during detention.
The Lottery! Even if you did nothing wrong, you can receive a detention by OOCly signing up for the Lottery. If we have a lot of people in detention, one person gets picked. If we need some extra students, I'll let in multiple people, sometimes even everyone who signed up. Please don't sign up unless you know you'll be available for most of the detention period.
If nobody earns detention and there's not a good reason to just give it to random people via the lottery, detention will be cancelled that week.
