Workshop Expectations for Students and Teachers (please read first)

1) Students are required to sign up for at least 2 workshops but no more than 4. Additionally, there will now be a cap of 8 workshops per PLAYER (so if you have 4 student characters, 2 workshops each. 3 or 2 students any combination up to 8 overall and 4 per character, 1 student can still only have a maximum of 4. This is new, so feel free to ask questions in the questions thread at the bottom of the post).
2) This is not first come, first served as that is unfair due to time zones.
3) If there are too many people signing up for the one workshop then AFTER sign-ups close names will be drawn out of a hat to decide who gets in (so even after the workshop hits maximum, keep signing up as you have an equal chance of getting in as the first person does). If a suitable hat of outstanding character cannot be found (or if we're feeling lazy), we'll use a number generator. Either way, it will be random and fair.
4) Those who do not get in will be allowed to pick a back-up workshop if they want, but please be prepared to respond and choose your back-up quickly as time is limited.
5) If you have more than one character sign up for a workshop, please state which character you would prefer to get in if you have a preference. If the workshop reaches its maximum number of students, only one of your characters will get in. If you have a student character in a workshop that your teacher is teaching, they will miss out to give others a chance to play.
6) If it's OOC for your character to take the workshop but you really want to take it anyway, just sign them up and we'll pretend it was a paperwork mishap.
7) TAs - if you are a student (not a graduated senior), you must sign up for the workshop you're TAing for. The workshop will count towards your workshop total (4 maximum). Please specify that you are the TA for the workshop when signing up.
8) TAs do not count towards the total number of people in the workshop (ie: a full workshop is 20+TAs).
9) By signing up, you agree to participate for the entire term (7 weeks). Attendance will be recorded as showing up to workshops is how we keep track of your character's activity in the game. If you repeatedly fail to attend workshops, you will be contacted and are subject to removal from the workshop and the game.
10) Workshop descriptions are subject to change at the teacher's discretion.
11) If you turn the amp up to 11, it's louder than 10.

Pick your workshop. Respond to that workshop's thread below with your character's name. Lather, rinse, repeat. Please use your character's respective journal for their sign-ups. New characters are absolutely allowed to comment here to sign up.

Workshop sign-ups close at midnight PST on Sunday, May 4. No late sign-ups are allowed without extenuating circumstances (ie: sign up sooner than the last day or you're going to forget and look like a dork). Students who do not sign up in time will be removed from the game and have to reapply for Term 2.

Your basic summer camp Arts & Crafts workshop with a few twists. Work on your paper mache gremlins and wonder why Mr. Rogers hasn't gotten the memo about glitter yet. Maybe wind up with a dreamcatcher that actually works!

An introduction to how a car works and how to perform basic repairs and upkeep.

This hands-on course will progress students through a number of chemical experiments with a bent toward the destructive, ranging from making soap to making Molotov cocktails, homemade napalm and nitroglycerin. The workshop will look at ethical issues related to the use of explosives and experimenting with dangerous substances.

This workshop will go through the process of choosing and getting into a college and how to survive when you're there. Topics will include choosing your school, meeting your roommate, dos and don'ts during class and when to party.

Learn how to dance and defend yourself at the same time.

A short course in food appreciation, ranging from fine dining, to rustic fare, to just plain tasty. Bring your taste buds and an open mind.

Learn how to fly various aircraft from an experienced pilot. The workshop will involve simulated and real flights.

Students will learn how to design and create functional clothing that is also fashionable, and fashionable clothing that is also functional. No prior experience necessary.

With the universe (and multiverse) at your fingertips, it's easy to get carried away with wanting to see it all. Students will be given the opportunity to put into practice tips and tricks learned about surviving and having a good time when visiting very strange places. Learn how to get comfortable, ask the right questions, meet the right people, find really good stir-fry and how to handle yourself when your vacation goes drastically wrong because aliens are out to get you.

Everyone is the best at something, whether it's playing the piano, painting a picture, or beating people up. This workshop will help each student identify what that thing is for them, taking time to isolate what skills might be useful for that thing and working to improve those skills through general exercises that may or may not result in bruising depending on the activity and how many holograms of ninjas they may need to fight.

Sometimes it's good to stand out and sometimes it's much, much better to just blend in. Like in those worlds where strangers are prey for cannibals. A practical course in the skills needed to blend into the background and avoid notice no matter where you are.

In light of Fandom’s habit of snagging people from any which universe... wouldn’t it be a good idea to get a more comprehensive understanding of how people from one universe differ from those in another? This is a low-pressure course wherein each week a different topic will be introduced and students will be invited to discuss the ways they differ from one another utilizing the topic at hand as a starting point. (Various topics will include: Foods, holiday traditions, ethical and moral standards, gender relations, etc.)

This course offers students a quick review of some of the major hazards and skills required to uphold justice within the known cosmos (larger snowglobes not included). It offers all a student needs to know (within reason, of course) to get a base feel for topics such as Advanced Anti-Criminal Planning, the Use of Galactic Artifacts Against Crime and Malevolence, and haggis.

There's also nothing like getting hit by beer bottles thrown by hecklers. Karaoke nights at clubs can also be a great way for aspiring singers to get discovered, or it's a great way to have fun with your friends. Karaoke For Fun And Profit is for all types of karaoke singers and for all levels of ability. We'll start in a perfectly safe environment to build your confidence, then progress to singing in front of actual audiences. Along the way, the workshop covers picking the right type of music, singing duets, how not to suck at karaoke, when it's okay to suck at karaoke, plus how to bounce back after getting laughed at. You'll be learning from Mike Cannon, a former professional back-up singer for a major recording artist (who happened to be his aunt).

Many of us have been inspired at some point by great men and women in history. The past, however, was also shaped by the insane, the irrational, and the degenerate -- people with absolute power and few inhibitions. From the whimsical to the deranged, we will explore the catalogue of chaos and depravity left in their wake, and look at various ways they were removed from power. This course is not recommended for the faint-of-heart.

Getting ahead in life isn't just about what you do, it's also about who you know. This workshop will cover getting over shyness and learning how to make the right connections.

How avoid trouble if you can and how to patch each other up when you can't. Largely Danger Shop based and a combination of throwing students into situations of various danger/theoreticalness and/or teaching the basic first aid skills.

For those who want to learn how to defend themselves in those dark alleys when you feel very Lifetime movie and need something more than just a whistle or can of mace. Or just like punching people. Either or!

Mr. Stinson and Ms. Bell cordially invite students to attend a relaxing summer workshop where they will have the opportunity to learn about and discuss multidimensional mating rituals. Also known as how people get it on in other cultures.

This isn't a workshop, it's a place to ask questions about sign-ups if you have any.
