Student feedback on the bouncy castles was... less than glowing, so the school board had planned to let students remain in the dorms this summer while they decided whether to rebuild permanent cabins or come up with another idea. Will the island be kind enough to let that happen? LOLOLOLOL school board, so adorably naive.

Due to a yet-to-be-revealed issue with the dorm building, all students will be moving for three weeks to an emergency shelter on the shore of Ingvar Islet, kindly provided by his daddy by way of the good folks at IKEA. Everyone has a home, but if you don't have a home, you really can find one there! Fear not; we don't mean that it's held together with coconuts, palm leaves, and spit. In fact, it's a rather large, impressive house with plenty of room -- two-to-a-bedroom, just like the dorms -- for students and grads to sleep, study, and hang out in peace.

Did we say peace? We meant "pieces." As in the house is constructed from pieces of every bit of IKEA furniture that ever got returned due to the unfortunate demise of its owner during a horrible Allen Wrench accident, or never made it out of the showroom in the first place because of the Zombie Employee Apocalypse of Seventy-Six, or That Thing At The Warehouse We Don't Talk About Ever Especially When The Lawyers Are Around.

In other words, the building is haunted. (Mostly in a handwavy NPC manner by you, the players, but we don't rule out a few random-event incidents here and there!) We'll have more details of how and where (and what the place looks like) for you as we get closer to move-in time, but we wanted to let you know that much in advance so you can make informed OOC decisions during sign-ups!

What's Different? What's not? )
Sign-Ups: Again, A Little Different This Time, So Please Read )

Sign-ups will close at 11:59 pm Pacific time on Tuesday, June 24th. All students who'll be around during the 2nd summer session, and all grads who aren't moving away or living in town need to sign up.

It's summertime in Fandom, and you all know what that means!

Tino breaks out the banana hammock for the beach parties. Sorry.

But you all know what else it means, right? Camping in the Preserve, and this year, thanks to last summer's cabin-melty invasion of ancient alien space rocks from beyond the dawn of time, it's gonna be intense!

Go ahead; read it out loud. We'll give you a moment, and then another for the groan.

That's right: at the end of Summer Session 1, instead of the traditional cabin setup, students and recent grads will will be spending two weeks in luxurious 4-person TENTS! They'll also get the bonus handycrafting adventure of assembling their own lodgings.

But WAIT! There's MORE! )

Sign-ups will close at 11:59 pm Pacific time on Wednesday, June 6.

Due to LJ being chock-full of DDoS awesome the last few days, we realize that asking you to comment in the OOC comm for Team Skience, Team Detective, or any of the finale teams might not have been possible for you this week. If that's the case for you, and you'd still like to participate in the BDE, please drop us an email about which characters you'd like to have do what by midnight tonight and we'll add you to our RNGing!

Now to see how long this takes to post...

Hopefully some of you will even be able to read this!!

  • The BDE deadline for signing up for Team Help With SKIENCE (Jane and Hermione's initial group), Team Detective (the Arkham and Miskatonic group), the Finale Defenders (Science/Magic and Fighters) and Finale: Crazy Friends Turned Monsters is tomorrow at 11:59PM Eastern Time.

  • The island is having another random event all day Thursday, July 28th: we will be invaded by storks carrying blankets full of...well, pet rocks. The storks are slightly confused about what was supposed to be in the blankets, traditionally speaking. They will be following people around, trying to deliver their packages, sitting on rooftops, leaving piles of stork poo behind...

  • And finally, early applications close on Friday, July 29th. You qualify is your application falls into one of the following categories:

    a) Student applications where the player does not have a current student
    b) Teacher applications where the player has not previously played a teacher
    c) Applications from new players to the game

We will consider it and, if there are any issues with it, will get back to you by August 2nd to give you a chance to make changes. Players in this situation will then have five days to make any changes and re-submit their application.

Edited to add! Library researcher and clinic volunteer sign-ups have no end-date; they're just a general head-count, and you're welcome to play that by ear if you make a latebreaking decision. We'll ask the regular clinic poster to add a thread for volunteers to ping in, each day, so that sick people can approach them if they choose, rather than running the regular staff off their feet!

As you all may recall from our last Open Forum, there was discussion about trying to make some changes to how the summer cabin situation works. Ask and ye shall receive! During the second summer session, students will be staying in the cabin for under two weeks (details are coming, we promise) in order to facilitate a different cabin scenario for future summers. Do you sense the foreshadowing? So here's the important stuff to know:

Students will move into the cabins on Sunday, July 24th, and will remain there for a LIMITED amount of time due to some BDE bits that we will be announcing shortly. Please note: Students will think they are staying in the cabin for the usual 3 weeks. The shortened time frame is for OOC knowledge only.

Graduating seniors who are sticking around this half of summer will have their own cabin separate from the rest of the student body since none of them have to wake up early for workshops. Unless they're TAing, and then they can deal.

Teachers and townies will continue to live in their own town residences, lucky people.

Imagine, wooden floors plus amenities! )

For the bow-chicka-bow-wow times. )

Campground 101? )

The town exists, too! )

Post it right the first time! )

So you wanna room with a buddy... )

It's the most wonderful tiiiiiiime of the year! Or not, if you hate the great outdoors. Ahem. At the end of Summer Session I, students will be spending several weeks (3) living in cabins in the preserve and participating in group bonding via campfires, not having any personal space, and taking cold showers.

Students will move into the cabins on Monday, June 6th, and will remain there for nearly THREE WEEKS until Sunday, June 26th when everyone will gather up their stuff and return to the good old dorm rooms until second session cabin times resume.

Graduating seniors who are sticking around this half of summer will have their own cabin separate from the rest of the student body since none of them have to wake up early for workshops. Unless they're TAing, and then they can deal.

Teachers and townies will continue to live in their own town residences, lucky people.

Hey everyone! It's almost time for Summer Session 2 and thus, cabins! (Move-in: Sunday, July 5, Move-out: Sunday, July 26) For those who are new, or need a refresher on how the cabins work, you can read up on all the cabin info here.

Since we have new students and students who have left, we're going to be rearranging the cabins. As usual, you have the option of being randomly assigned to a cabin on your own, or you can sign up with a partner (someone you'd like to share a cabin with). Each cabin has 8 people in it, so once cabin sign-ups close, pairs will be allocated to a cabin and then anyone who's a single will be slotted in as well.

Using the OCD below, sign up in pairs with one person commenting to the main thread and the other person commenting collapsey-style beneath the first person to verify that they do want to be partnered up. For example, if Sam and Chuck want to live together for extra happy sexy time, Sam could comment first, and then Chuck would reply to Sam's comment saying that yes, they do want to live together.

Graduated seniors will have their own cabin again, so they need to pair up with other graduates. Other than that, you can partner up with whoever you want.

Cabin Sign-Up FAQ )

Please remember to let us know if your plans have changed and your character is going away for Session 2 so they will not be assigned to a cabin. Yes, there is special OCD for that.

Sign-ups will close midnight PST, Saturday June 27th (the midnight directly following 11:59pm Friday June 26th).

Hey everyone! Next week is the start of our end-of-summer cabin time. (Move-in: Monday, August 4, Move-out: Sunday, August 24) For those who are new, or need a refresher on how the cabins work, you can read up on all the cabin info here.

For a few weeks every summer, all students move out of the dorms and go to a set of cabins located in the Preserve for some bonding and fun times. Or something. We're not sure what the excuse really is besides 'wacky hijinks'.

Students will move into the cabins very early in the semester and will be there for a few weeks (actual move-in date and amount of time there to be determined) There may be another period of cabinosity at the end of Term 2.

Graduating seniors who are sticking around this summer (for part or all of the summer) will have their own cabin separate from the rest of the student body.

Teachers will continue to live in their in town residences.

Workshop Expectations for Students and Teachers (please read first)

1) Students are required to sign up for at least 2 workshops but no more than 4. Additionally, there will now be a cap of 8 workshops per PLAYER (so if you have 4 student characters, 2 workshops each. 3 or 2 students any combination up to 8 overall and 4 per character, 1 student can still only have a maximum of 4. This is new, so feel free to ask questions in the questions thread at the bottom of the post).
2) This is not first come, first served as that is unfair due to time zones.
3) If there are too many people signing up for the one workshop then AFTER sign-ups close names will be drawn out of a hat to decide who gets in (so even after the workshop hits maximum, keep signing up as you have an equal chance of getting in as the first person does). If a suitable hat of outstanding character cannot be found (or if we're feeling lazy), we'll use a number generator. Either way, it will be random and fair.
4) Those who do not get in will be allowed to pick a back-up workshop if they want, but please be prepared to respond and choose your back-up quickly as time is limited.
5) If you have more than one character sign up for a workshop, please state which character you would prefer to get in if you have a preference. If the workshop reaches its maximum number of students, only one of your characters will get in. If you have a student character in a workshop that your teacher is teaching, they will miss out to give others a chance to play.
6) If it's OOC for your character to take the workshop but you really want to take it anyway, just sign them up and we'll pretend it was a paperwork mishap.
7) TAs - if you are a student (not a graduated senior), you must sign up for the workshop you're TAing for. The workshop will count towards your workshop total (4 maximum). Please specify that you are the TA for the workshop when signing up.
8) TAs do not count towards the total number of people in the workshop (ie: a full workshop is 20+TAs).
9) By signing up, you agree to participate for the entire term (7 weeks). Attendance will be recorded as showing up to workshops is how we keep track of your character's activity in the game. If you repeatedly fail to attend workshops, you will be contacted and are subject to removal from the workshop and the game.
10) Workshop descriptions are subject to change at the teacher's discretion.
11) If you turn the amp up to 11, it's louder than 10.

INSTRUCTIONS:

Pick your workshop. Respond to that workshop's thread below with your character's name. Lather, rinse, repeat. Please use your character's respective journal for their sign-ups. New characters are absolutely allowed to comment here to sign up.

Weekly Workshop Schedule (this will eventually be linked to on the [livejournal.com profile] fandomhigh user info page and later put on the website).

Workshop sign-ups close at midnight PST on Sunday, May 4. No late sign-ups are allowed without extenuating circumstances (ie: sign up sooner than the last day or you're going to forget and look like a dork). Students who do not sign up in time will be removed from the game and have to reapply for Term 2.

Please direct any questions or problems to administration@fandomhigh.net

Please wait for OCD O' Doom. If you ping in before the OCD is done, I'll make fun of you. OCD is all done. Go for it.

ETA: Workshops are for students only. Graduating seniors become alumni upon graduation (on Saturday) and are not eligible to take summer workshops. To see what's needed from you, check out the post on what to do with your graduating senior.

Hey teachers and townies!

Don't forget to check out and reply to this post if you want to teach a workshop during the first summer term.

Also teachers, if you're planning on going away and not teaching, we'd like to hear from you for the sake of completion please.

Thanks!
[identity profile] ismyhairout.livejournal.com
Hello teachers and townies!

During Summer Semester (yes, one of those posts already!), rather classes we offer workshops for students to take. Since the semester is broken up into two terms, workshops (which are essentially classes only with a less academic focus) run for 7 weeks. Both teachers and townies can run workshops. It involves the same thing as running a class: coming up with a concept, coming up with weekly activities for the workshop, posting the workshop on time every week and interacting in the post.

If you think you'd like to offer a workshop for one or both terms during Summer, please fill out the form below by commenting to this post. If you'd like to offer a workshop for Term 2 only, there's no need to sign up now. There will be an opportunity for that closer to Term 2. If you need to know dates, the academic calendar is available via [livejournal.com profile] fandomhigh's profile page.

All comments will be screened. Questions will be unscreened. Keep in mind that we're not really looking for academic classes over the Summer. Go for something fun and interactive. You can view previous workshops at the Wiki: 2006 Summer Term 1, 2006 Summer Term 2, 2007 Summer Term 1, 2007 Summer Term 2.

Aaaaaand here's the information we need if you're interested!

Workshop Name:
Workshop Synopsis (for public use):
Further Details on Workshop (whatever detail you'd like to include, such as weekly ideas, general concepts, a little more explanation, etc):

If there are any problems, we'll be in contact to sort those out. Otherwise, there will be a post giving a general thumbs up to anyone we don't contact. Deadline for submissions is Friday, April 11, 2008.

ETA: As always, this is only for current characters. The app session for new teachers and students will be next week. Apps for townies are always open.

Class Expectations for Students and Teachers (please read first)

1) Students are required to sign up for at least 2 classes, but no more than 4 per student. If you have more than one student, think about sticking to 2 or 3 as it's easy to get swamped and unfair to take up multiple places if you're not going to participate beyond the sign in.
2) This is not first come, first served as that is unfair due to time zones.
3) If there are too many people signing up for the one class then AFTER sign-ups close names will be drawn out of a hat to decide who gets in (so even if a class has hit 20, keep signing up as you have an equal chance of getting in as the first person!). Or we'll use a number generator if we're feeling lazy. It'll be random to be fair either way.
4) Those who do not get in will be allowed to pick a back-up if they want, but please be prepared to respond and choose your backup quickly as time is limited.
5) If you have more than one character sign up for a class please state which character you would prefer to get in. If the class reaches its maximum number of students, you will have to pick one of your characters to put forward. Same applies if you have a student character in a class that your teacher character is teaching.
6) If it's OOC for your character to take a class but you really want to take it anyway, just sign them up and we'll pretend it was a paperwork mishap.
7) TAs - you must sign up for the class you're TAing for and yes, it counts towards your class total (4 maximum).
Please specify if you are the TA for the class.

8) TAs do not count towards the total number of people in the class (ie: a full class will have 20+TAs).
9) By signing up, you agree to participate for the entire semester (15 weeks). Attendance will be recorded as showing up to classes is how we keep track of your activity in the game. If you repeatedly fail to attend classes, you will be contacted. If it continues, you face possible removal from the class and eventual removal from the game.
10) Class descriptions are subject to change at the teacher's discretion.

INSTRUCTIONS:

Pick your class. Respond to that class' thread below with your character's name. Lather, rinse, repeat. Please use your character's respective journal for their sign-ups.

Class Weekly Schedule (this will be linked to via the [livejournal.com profile] fandomhigh user info page.

Class sign-ups close at midnight PST on Wednesday, January 2. No late sign-ups are allowed without extenuating circumstances. (ie: sign up sooner than the last day or you're going to forget and look like a dorkface). Students who do not sign up in time will be removed from the game and have to reapply in April.

Please direct any questions or problems to administration@fandomhigh.net.

[Please wait for OCD of doom. If you ping in before the OCD is done, I'll delete your comment and make fun of you. I'll cross out this note when the OCD is done. OCD is done. Go for it.]

ETA: Lawyering up is period 2 on Wednesday, not period 1.

All the new, incoming students will be assigned a random roommate, but if you are a current student who would like to be reassigned to/request a new roommate, please comment here by midnight PST on Tuesday, August 28. If you request a new roomie specifically, please check with that character's player to make sure it's kosher with them as well.

New students will be allowed their chance to move after three weeks with their assigned roommate.

All comments are screened.

Guys, this time around we're opening up class sign-ups for a much longer period of time than we usually do. This will give the new players and those of you with new characters time to figure out your schedules and sign up once you find out whether or not your applications were accepted. Please don't sign up with new characters until you've received notice that your character has been accepted.

Also please note that we've changed the minimum and maximum number of classes you can have.

Big Sibling Program!
Yay new student time! And new students need old volunteers!

We need IC student volunteers to pair up with incoming students and help them adjust to Fandom's little quirks. Or make it worse. *shrugs* Whichever works best for both of you. ;)

If the player is new, volunteers will also be expected to help their charges get adjusted to the game by answering questions, providing helpful information and maybe do a little hand holding. This game can be very intimidating for new people and we want to make sure that none of our newbies become overwhelmed. Any current student can volunteer for this.

The Buddy System!
This seems to be working well, so were going to keep going with it. If you have any feedback for me on it, please email it to me at fh.anonymous [at] gmail [dot] com.

We don't have any new players as teachers again, but we do have a couple players who are new to teaching. So, any help you could give them would be greatly appreciated.

What we need from you!
Please volunteer if you fit the following:

- Your character won't be antagonistic about helping out someone (ICly, your character can be signed up against their will, or something, if you would really like to do this. But, please don't sign up if they're not going to be helpful to a new student or teacher.)

- You have the time to field questions from a newbie, and will be around consistently for the first few weeks of the fall term.

If you have any questions, please contact an admin or mod on IM or via email.

Please sign up in the appropriate thread of this post by 11:59 pm PDT on Wednesday, August 29th if you are interested in volunteering for either program.

Hi guys!

This is a reminder for a couple of things.

If you have a character that you know is leaving at the end of the semester, please let us know as soon as you can!

Teachers wanting to keep teaching for Fall Semester should submit their class proposals here by August 17.

Remember applications for students and teachers are still open until August 17 (townies are always open). We're getting a good load in, so join the fun. Current players and newcomers welcome! We love our fresh meat.

And last but not least, the entire [livejournal.com profile] fandomhigh_ooc community will be tagged up by tonight. I'm just working on September 05 and we're set, so it should be easier to navigate now instead of pressing 'Previous 20 Entries' a bazillion times.

Well, I lied, that wasn't the last one. I feel you all should know that I'm out of chocolate. This is a sad and tragic occasion.
[identity profile] ismyhairout.livejournal.com
We're getting in early with this stuff to give everyone plenty of time to prepare and all that jazz.

If you're intending on teaching a class for Fall Semester, please read on.

If you are a current teacher (even one with a job over the Summer), just read the rest and fill out the form below.
If you are a current teacher wanting to stay on as a townie (not teach anymore), please email us and let us know and we'll go from there.
If you are a current townie wanting to become a full-time teacher, please email us and let us know and we'll go from there.
If you are lost and need to know the way to San Jose, please email us and let us know and we'll go from there.
New teacher characters should fill out the regular application form and ignore this for now.

What's Needed:
* The ability to come up with 15 weeks worth of classes (14 + exam week with a 1 week break in the middle)
* The ability to post the workshop by 12pm PST the day it's scheduled (you can post the night before)
* The ability to interact with your students (slow play is fine, you don't need to be around all the time)

The Form

Character Name:
Class Name:
Class Synopsis:
(a description including any ideas you have for individual classes so far)
Please list your top two preferred days: (Monday to Friday. You'll need to post your workshop by 12pm PST on this day. You can post the night before if that works better for you.)
Anything else we need to know?

The form will need to be in by Friday, August 17, 2007.

Please email your form to administration@fandomhigh.net. Thanks!

Big Sibling Program!
It that time again and the days crept up on me. I should have posted this sooner. *cuts and pastes most of post from last time*

We need IC student volunteers to pair up with incoming students and help them adjust to Fandom's little quirks. Or make it worse. *shrugs* Whichever works best for both of you. ;)

Okay, this part is VERY IMPORTANT: If the player is new (and we look to have close to ten newbies this time), volunteers will also be expected to help their charges get adjusted to the game by answering questions, providing helpful information and maybe do a little hand holding. This game can be very intimidating for new people and we want to make sure that none of our newbies become overwhelmed.

I think this went okay for the first summer session. If you have any feedback for me on it, please email it to me at fh.anonymous [at] gmail [dot] com.

We don't have any new players as teachers again, but we do have a few players who are new to teaching. So, any help you could give them would be greatly appreciated.

Hi again!

Last call for workshop proposals for Term 2. They need to be in by tonight (Monday evening US time). Any teachers or townies who want in for term 2, send in a proposal by tonight.

Cabin Sign-up!

Friday, May 4th, 2007 10:41 am
bigdamnprincipal: (Default)
[personal profile] bigdamnprincipal
Hey everyone! It's time to sign up for cabins. (Ooh, aah!) This time around, we're going to be in the cabins for three weeks, from May 13th to June 3rd. There may be a second period of cabinosity later, depending on how this first session goes, and if so, it will most likely be at the end of the second summer session.

In terms of signing up for cabins, we're doing things a little differently this year than we did last year. Instead of signing up in groups of four, we're going to have you all sign up in pairs. Like last year, each cabin will have two sides, with four people living on each side. Once we have everyone's pairs, our good friend the random name generator will put four sets of pairs together for each cabin.

Here's how we need you to sign up: using the OCD thread below, sign-up in pairs, with one person commenting to the main thread, and the other person commenting collapsey-style beneath them to verify that they do want to partner up. For example, if Molly and Katara want to live together, Molly would comment first, and then Katara would comment off of Molly's comment saying that yes, they do want to live together. Think of it like signing in for classes, only in sets of two. *g*

One very important note: The graduating seniors will have their own cabins. Therefore, all graduating seniors must partner up with other graduating seniors. Other than that, y'all can partner up with whoever you want.

In an attempt to answer questions before they're asked... )

Sign-ups will close at 7pm Eastern on Tuesday, May 8th.

Hello!

If you would like to change your dorm living situation for the summer, please comment here stating what you want to do:

- Change to a different room on your own (state which floor you want: 2, 3, 4 or 5)
- Move in with someone else currently in the game (get the other person to comment here too, agreeing to the move)
- Get a brand new roommate out of the new batch of characters

Note: Cabin-related sign-ups will be later. This is just for dorm living.

We are going to have new characters coming in soon so it is time once again to start this up.

We need IC student volunteers to pair up with incoming students and help them adjust to Fandom's little quirks. Or make it worse. *shrugs* Whichever works best for both of you. ;)

If the player is new (and we look to have about 10 newbies), volunteers will also be expected to help their charges get adjusted to the game by answering questions, providing helpful information and maybe do a little hand holding. This game can be very intimidating for new people and we want to make sure that none of our newbies become overwhelmed.

The Buddy System!
Last time, we asked a couple of players to help OOC with those who were new to teaching. We are now going to expand that to an IC program for all of the new teachers.

We don't have any new players as teachers this time, but we do have a few players who are new to teaching. So, any help you could give them would be greatly appreciated.

(And, yes. We know the name is corny. Feel free to bitch about it IC. *g*)

Okay teachers and townies, it's that time again. We're looking for details on whether you intend to teach a workshop or not for summer term 1. The dates are May 14 to June 29.

I know some teachers have already sent in emails stating you intend to take on town duties instead for the term, but I didn't file those properly and I'd like to keep these all together, so please comment anyway.

All teachers should respond to this. Townies only need to respond to this if they want to teach a workshop. Workshops are like classes in that they're run once a week, only they're based on less academic topics and with less work.

Fill out the following.

Character Name:

Are you available most of the time from May 14 to June 29?: (Yes/No)

Want to teach a workshop?: (Yes/No)

If no, what duties do you intend to handle in town?: (If you don't know yet, start asking around. You can always contact the admins too to talk ideas over)

If yes, what workshop do you want to run?: (Please note that your first choice might be the same as someone else's first choice, so be prepared to work on a back-up plan if contacted to do so) Include a workshop name and description, including any ideas you have for individual classes so far.

Please list your top two preferred days: (Monday to Friday. You'll need to post your workshop by 12pm PST on this day. You can post the night before if that works better for you.)

Workshop leaders for term 2 will be organized later in the semester.

Comment here with your responses for the above. Please respond by April 20, 2007. Comments are screened!

OOC Reminder

Hey folks,

Just a reminder to please go and sign up your student characters for the Faculty Mentor program.

http://community.livejournal.com/fandomhigh_ooc/388437.html

All students have to sign up. Further details at the link above. If there are any teachers who haven't volunteered yet, there's still time to do that as well.

Thanks!

Clubs reminder

[personal profile] can_be_more
All clubs need to be registered tonight by oh, say 9 pm EST. That's when I'm going to plan to have the schedule up and start putting up the club fair post of doom. So far the registered clubs are:

Fencing Club
The Fandom Hightimes
Young Entrepenuers
Chess Club
Cheerleading
Dueling Club
Self-Defense Club
Role Playing Club
Alpha Beta Gremlin
Dance Club
Gun Club

If your club is not up here, I haven't received a form for it. Seriously, I need the form, it's where I get all the info for the post and schedule. You can find the form and other info here.

As for the post tonight, it will be set after classes in the gym on Monday. Each club will get a table where the club leader can interact and recruit, and there will be an OOC thread for each club that you use to sign up. (Cheerleading won't get a sign up thread since I already have a roster, but if you guys want I'm willing to give you a table.) You can play stuff out or not as much as you want. There will also be OOC threads for if you have a job or are a TA, library aide, etc. If you/your character won't be around to sign up, you can sign up in the OOC threads until Monday, February 12 and just handwave the IC signup. After Feb. 12, I start asking "Hey, where's your job/club/etc.?" and I hate that part. If you feel the need to join something later in the year, just ping me or E-mail me and I'll add you.

I'm sure there's something I'm forgetting, but I'm rushing omg. Questions and comments go here!
[identity profile] ismyhairout.livejournal.com
Hello hello!

A few weeks ago, [livejournal.com profile] dr_jwilsonmd suggested a student/teacher mentor/academic advisor program. This will basically give every student a designated member of staff that they can go to ICly to ask questions, get advice and butt heads :D

All students will have to sign up so they can be assigned a mentor/advisor. Teachers offering to be mentors/advisors is optional, but encouraged. A set number of students will be assigned to each teacher (how many depends on how many teachers sign up).

How the teacher/student mentor relationship is manifested is up to both parties involved. Once you're paired up, you can talk to each other OOCly and decide what works best for both of you. The teacher may want to see their students once a week or two weeks or once a month for a meeting, they may want to get involved in the student's school life or they may want to handwave everything. Work it out between yourselves to see what suits you best.

Teachers please volunteer below in the Teachers thread. How much time you want to spend getting involved in this is up to you. Please don't ask for specific students.

Students please list the top 5 faculty members that you would like as your faculty advisor/mentor. All students have to pick someone.

We will do our best to give everyone their highest preference possible. If too many students want one teacher for their first preference, we'll pick names out of a hat then go to the second preference and so on.

Please sign up by Wednesday, February 7.

All comments are screened.

Have a happy and cheesecake-filled Wednesday (or Thursday)!

ETA: This is an OOC sign up to show player intentions. Your student doesn't have to know the teachers you list, and the teachers don't actually have to *want* to sign up. As with class sign-ups, we can do handwavey paperwork mistakes :)

List of faculty at Fandom High

ETA 2: Zoe, Hades, Tick, Fraser, Mickey and Swedish Chef (and Das Schnitzel) are all eligible as well if the players sign up. Faculty is faculty as long as they're not NPCs. When signing up assume that everyone is going to sign up. If they don't, there'll be a chance to change your preferences later.

You have *looks at clock, does math* 11 hours and 15 minutes to finalize your class choices. Remember that you must have a minimum of three, but no more than five classes.

If there is a reason why you can not/could not sign up before tonight, then you should already have emailed us. We will not be accepting any sign-ups after the cut off point without a really good explanation.

Several classes are currently overfull. I will be putting up the class rosters tomorrow. If your student did not make it into one of your desired classes you will be allowed to sign up for a different class.

Class Expectations for Students and Teachers

1) You are required to sign up for at least 3 classes, but can sign up for no more than 5.
4) Those who do not get in will be allowed to pick a back-up if they want, but please be prepared to respond and choose your backup quickly.
5) If you have more than one character sign up for a class please state which character you would prefer to get in. This will be in case the class reaches its maximum. You will only get one character in.
6) If it's OOC for your character to take a class but you really want to take it anyway, just sign them up and we'll pretend it was a paperwork mishap.
7) TAs - if you have pre-arranged to be a TA for a class, you must sign up for that class and yes, it counts towards your class total.
8) TAs do not count towards the total number of people in the class (ie: full classes will have 20+TAs)
9) By signing up, you agree to participate for the entire semester (until May).

Class limits are subject to change. Teachers, if you need someone to change your class limit, holler like a hollering thing that hollers.

Instructions:
Pick your class. Reply to the comment for the class you want with your character's name. Lather, rinse, repeat.

Class sign-ups close at midnight PST on Friday, January 5. No late sign-ups allowed. (ie: sign up sooner rather than later or you're gonna forget and then you're just gonna look like a dweeb)

If you're reading this and the deadline has passed without you signing up, you've missed out. If there are extenuating circumstances (like your cat peed on your computer or a meteor hit your computer - forgetting is not an extenuating circumstance, nor is laziness), EMAIL THE ADMINS IMMEDIATELY! Don't wait. Don't try to sign up. Email and explain your situation. We are nice people, we understand RL just as much as anyone else, we just don't like it when people try to sneak in around the rules.

For ANY PROBLEMS, do NOT contact me. I am out of town for the week without internet access. Contact administration@fandomhigh.net or one of the admins/mods on AIM. Emailing me will do no good.

Yes, it's time again for the Big Brother/Big Sister program.

For those who don't remember the program from last semester, we basically set a new character up with an old one who volunteered, and they ICly show them around and help them with what they need.

OOCly, if the new character's mun is new, then the player of the Big Sibling is charged with helping them get a feel for the game.

We have a bunch of new kids coming in, so we're doing it again!

Please volunteer if you fit the following:

- Your character won't be antagonistic about helping out someone (ICly, your character can be signed up against their will, or something, if you would really like to do this, but please don't sign up if they're not going to be helpful to a new kid.)

- You have the time to possibly field questions from a newbie, and will be around consistently for the next few weeks.

Please snag any of the mods/admins on IM or via email if you have any questions. Please sign up by commenting here by 7:00 PM EST on Sunday the 31st if you are interested in being a Big Brother or Sister so as to give us time to match people up before newbies arrive.

If we have an overflow of volunteers, the Secret Sibling program will be put into effect again. Details on that will follow if neccessary.

Hello!

If you would like to change your dorm living situation for the Spring semester, please comment here stating what you want to do:

- Change to a different room on your own (state which floor you want: 2, 3, 4 or 5)
- Move in with someone else currently in the game (get the other person to comment here too, agreeing to the move)
- Get a brand new roommate out of the new batch of characters (you can't pick which one, but they're all great)

All comments are screened!
