Do YOU Need This Form?

If you are a current teacher and would like to continue teaching, just read the next sections and fill out the form below.

  • If you are a) a current townie who has previously taught classes, b) a townie who has never taught before but would like to now, or c) an alum/expat who would be returning to the island to teach, YAY. You, as of the October 2015 policy changes, just need to drop us a line (at fandomhighadmins@iambicnut.com) to let us know you're coming back, then mosey on down to fill out the class proposal!

  • If you are a current teacher wanting to move to townie status, also drop us a line and don't worry about filling out the class proposal part. Obviously. If you are a current teacher heading off island for all or part of the summer, note that in ye olde "what are you doing this summer" post. If your teacher is running away for good, tell us over here in the dropped character post.

  • If you are a current teacher and would like to continue teaching, just read the next sections and fill out the form below.

  • New teacher characters should fill out the regular application form and ignore this post entirely.

What If I Want To Teach Adults At The Community Center?

Community center classes, much like FH classes, can be whatever the teacher wants them to be. If you want to teach a craft or life skill, or hold weekly lectures on why your character is the most awesome ever, that is your choice. The key is getting other players (and their characters) interested enough to show up each week. The difference between community center classes and FH classes is that while we would require someone teaching a course as their job to post weekly, there is no requirement for a class to show up.

Any adult can teach a community center course just for fun, too, in addition to their regular job. Again, just fill out the form here and let us know so we can put it on a little schedule, so players can know in advance that there will be a class available in which to participate.

What's Needed For A Workshop?

  • The ability to come up with 7 weeks worth of classes.
  • The ability to post each class by noon Pacific or 3pm Eastern the day it's scheduled (you can also post the night before).

  • The ability to interact with your students (slow play is fine, you don't need to be around all the time).

CLICK ME )

Remember, not hearing from us right away is good - we will e-mail current/returning teachers to let them know their workshop works for us around the same time we send out final decisions on character applications.

Your teacher character's form will need to be in these comments by Sunday, April 24th for great scheduling justice.

Reminders ahoy!

Current teachers! Hopeful townies! It's that time of the year again!

It's time for the second summer term, verse the same as the first! Seven weeks of fun, sunshine, and work! Shops.

All teachers and townies currently on the island can submit a workshop to us. It's the same as running a class - coming up with, and posting, a workshop brimming with activities every week -, but with only half the calories (om nom!) of a regular term.

If you're planning to teach a workshop during the second summer session, you can find the form below, and if you need to know dates, the academic calendar is available on [livejournal.com profile] fandomhigh's profile page.

All comments will be screened. Questions will be unscreened. Remember: workshops are all about the fun! You don't have to dunk those poor student brains in highly academic mish-mash when the sun is most likely cooking them anyway. Teach them some pottery, performance art, or how to best shape a tinfoil hat to avoid any of that unnecessary brain-boiling. It's summer!

So. Here's the information we need if you're interested!

Character Name:
Workshop Name:
Workshop Synopsis (for public use):
Further Details on Workshop (whatever detail you'd like to include, such as weekly ideas, general concepts, a little more explanation, etc):
Preferred Day (please pick your top 2 choices Monday-Friday):
Anything Else:

As always, this is only for current characters. Apping is already open for anyone who wants to put in that new teacher.

If there are any problems, we'll be in contact to sort those out. Otherwise, no reaction is a good reaction.

Questions, comments, pie? That's how we roll.

The form will need to be in these here comments by Friday, June 19th, 2009.
[identity profile] decoder-rings.livejournal.com
This is just a reminder that all workshop proposals are due today by midnight PST. So, if you've got a teacher or a townie that wants to teach a summer workshop, submit it now!

SUBMIT YOUR WORKSHOP PROPOSALS AND THEN PUT A RING ON IT.

Current teachers! Hopeful townies! It's that time of the year again!

As most of you know, summer means it's time to throw those classes over the railing and settle in for workshops! Summer is divvied up into two terms of seven weeks, during which workshops will be run.

All teachers and townies currently on the island can submit a workshop to us. It's the same as running a class - coming up with, and posting, a workshop brimming with activities every week -, but with only half the calories (om nom!) of a regular term.

If you're planning to teach a workshop this fine first summer semester, you can find the form below, and if you need to know dates, the academic calendar is available on [livejournal.com profile] fandomhigh's profile page.

All comments will be screened. Questions will be unscreened. Remember: workshops are all about the fun! Only Escape Artistry was overbooked. Lee Adama, Jack Burton, Cimorene of Linderwall, Susan Pevensie, John Sheppard and Dean Winchester missed out. Lee and Susan will have to reselect their second choice. Jack, Cimorene, John and Dean have the option of selecting another or staying with their remaining two. Please let me know below what you'd like to do.

Teachers, rosters will be updated after the people who missed out re-select, so please check back.

Everyone else should be listed in the workshops they signed up for. If you're not, you know the drill. Comment below.

Workshop Expectations for Students and Teachers (please read first)

1) Students are required to sign up for at least 2 but no more than 4 workshops. Additionally, no player may sign up for more than 8 workshops (so if you have 4 students, 2 workshops each. 3 or 2 students, any combination up to 8 overall and 4 per character. 1 student can still only have a maximum of 4).
2) This is not first come, first served as that is unfair due to time zones.
3) If there are too many people signing up for the one workshop then after sign-ups close names will be drawn out of a hat to decide who gets in (so even if the workshop hits maximum, keep signing up as you have an equal chance of getting in as the first person does). If a suitable hat of outstanding character cannot be found, we'll use a number generator. Either way, it will be random and fair.
4) Those who do not get in will be allowed to pick a back-up workshop if they want. This will have to be done over the weekend after sign-ups close, so prepare to respond quickly.
5) If you have more than one character signed up for a workshop, please state what character you would prefer to get in if you have a preference. If the workshop reaches its maximum number of students, only one of your characters will get in. If you have a student character in a workshop that your teacher is teaching, they will miss out to give others a chance to play. Your student character cannot be TA for your teacher character.
6) If it's OOC for your character to take the workshop but you really want to take it anyway, just sign them up and we'll pretend it was a paperwork mishap for IC reasons.
7) TAs - if you are a student (not a graduated senior), you must sign up for the workshop you are TAing for. The workshop will count towards your workshop total (4 max). Please specify that you are the TA for the workshop when signing up.
8) TAs do not count towards the total number of people in the workshop (ie: a full workshop is 20+TAs). There is a maximum of 2 TAs per workshop.
9) By signing up, you agree to participate for the entire term (7 weeks). Attendance will be recorded as showing up to workshops is how we keep track of your character's activity in the game. If you repeatedly fail to attend workshops, you will be contacted and are subject to removal from the workshop and the game.
10) Workshop descriptions are subject to change at the teacher's discretion.
11) 11 is ridiculous. It's not even funny.

INSTRUCTIONS:

Pick your workshop. Respond to that workshop's thread below with your character's name. Lather, rinse, repeat. Please use your character's respective journal for their sign-ups. New characters sign up here too.

Weekly Workshop Schedule (this will eventually be linked to on the [livejournal.com profile] fandomhigh user info page).

Workshops sign-ups close at midnight PST on Friday, July 4. No late sign-ups are allowed without extenuating circumstances (so sign up earlier in case something comes up). Students who do not sign up in time will be removed from the game and have to reapply for the Fall.

Workshops are for students only. Graduated seniors from this year are now alumni and are not eligible to take summer workshops. They need to arrange a TAship, have a steady job or work on the community project in town.

Please direct any questions, problems or marriage proposals to administration@fandomhigh.net.

Please wait for the OCD to be finished and for this notice to be crossed out before commenting/signing up in case a comment needs to be edited. Please. Have at it.

ETA: Japanese characters, please sign up in the Western style from now on (first name then last name).
