Our provider was having some technical issues earlier, so the fandomhigh account was momentarily out of service. We're up again now! The regular e-mail address (administration at fandomhigh dot net) and the website should be working correctly. If you sent us e-mail or submitted an application through the website anytime between 2 pm EST on Monday and midnight, though, you'll need to re-send it.

The admin e-mail is up and working again! We got it on Valtrex and had a nice long talk with Elaine about being a whore. So it should be all good!

Admin E-mail Outage

[identity profile] rocksthescarf.livejournal.com
Due to what I suspect is internet herpes (I blame Elaine), the admin e-mail is down at the moment. Please hold on to your e-mails, and we will let you know when it's ok to start sending them again.

Because the impending LJ maintenance wasn't enough, the admin e-mail is down at the moment. Please hold on to your e-mails, and this post will be updated when we're back in business. *grumbles*

ETA: And we're finally back up for real. Thank you for your patience!

In the continuing trend of the internet conspiring against us (WTF AIM, WTF?), fandomhigh.net is currently down, which means both the admin address and the application form are down. Until further notice, please direct all adminly e-mails to bigdamndean@gmail.com, and please hold onto your applications.

ETA: We're back up, folks. Thanks for your patience. :)

Hey guys!

We're having some issues with the fandomhigh.net domain being down at the moment. We're aware of the problem, and we ask that for the moment you direct all E-mails to fh.applications@gmail.com and we'll reply as quickly as possible. This also means that the application form isn't currently available. Please hold off on sending any in until we give the heads up that everything's back up, just to make sure that your app isn't lost. Please also pass on the message to any friends who may be preparing an application.

Thanks!

Hey folks,

We're having some problems with the fandomhigh.net domain at the moment. Please direct all emails for the admin team to fh.applications@gmail.com and we'll respond as promptly as possible. Due to the technical difficulties, the application form is not currently available. Please hold off on sending in any applications until we give the heads up that the site is back up and running as your application may be lost along the way. Please also pass the message on to any friends you have who might be preparing an application.

More news as we have it.
[identity profile] canadianpopstar.livejournal.com
The site is working again, as is the admin email and the application form.

To be on the safe side, however, do not assume we got an app until you get a confirmation email from us! (Which should be the standard MO anyway.)

You may all now return to your normal gameplay and crack and whatnot.

Email/Website Update
The administration@fandomhigh.net email address and the fandomhigh.net website are back up and running!

******

Reminder

If you are a student or teacher going away or returning for Term 2, please let us know immediately! We can't accommodate you if we don't know whether you're going to be around or not.

******

Workshops Needed!

Want to teach a workshop next term? This is open to teachers, townies and this year's graduates.

What's Needed:

* The ability to come up with 7 workshops (one per week) that give the students something to do
* The ability to post the workshop by 12pm PST the day it's scheduled (you can post the night before)
* The ability to interact with your students (SP is fine for this, you don't need to be around all the time)

Think you can handle that? Give it a try! Summer is the only time that townies and graduates can teach and it's only half a semester's worth of classes.

Teachers who do not wish to teach but want to stay in Fandom must have a job in town or start a community club that they run once a week.

Graduates who do not wish to teach but want to stay in Fandom must have a TAship (arranged yourself) or work on the school construction effort.

It's your responsibility to make sure that your character is doing something that they are supposed to be doing.

Everyone who wishes to teach a workshop for Term 2 should comment here with the following details filled out.

Character Name:
Workshop Name:
Workshop Synopsis:
(a description including any ideas you have for individual classes so far)
Please list your top two preferred days: (Monday to Friday. You'll need to post your workshop by 12pm PST on this day. You can post the night before if that works better for you.)
Anything else we need to know?

It's totally okay to repeat a workshop from the first term. If you want to teach, but need some help brainstorming what you'd teach, feel free to contact any of the admins or mods and we're happy to help.

Deadline for submissions is Monday, June 25.

Hey folks,

fandomhigh.net has been down for the last 12-14 hours. If you sent us an email today or last night, we did not receive it. Please forward it on to fh.applications@gmail.com for now. We'll let you know when the original address is working again.

If you submitted an application today or last night, please resend. The form is now accessible again. You may notice an error after you submit (when the form redirects you to www.fandomhigh.net but rest assured it will go through).

Also, please remember that if you do not receive a notification email from us within 24 hours of sending your app, contact us! We may not have received the app. You have to contact us before apps close or there's not much we can do.

We've passed the problem up to our kind and benevolent tech monkey, so hopefully things will be fixed soon.

fandomhigh.net innage

I should have mentioned this yesterday, but fandomhigh.net is up and running again as of yesterday morning. Therefore, e-mails to the admin address are coming through as normal.

In an unrelated topic, I want to give cake to all of our players. I don't have cake, though, so that want will go unfulfilled. Sorry about that.
[identity profile] bugofjustice.livejournal.com
Hey folks. fandomhigh.net has been pretty spotty throughout the day. If you've sent an e-mail to the admin address today, there's a chance that we didn't receive it. Hopefully this is all cleared up soon. Until then, if you urgently need to contact the admins, you can send an e-mail to our personal addresses as linked in our profiles. You only need to send it to one of us. We'll be sure to forward it to the others.

Thank you!
[identity profile] notthetindog.livejournal.com
Okay. Here's the deal. We have fandomhigh.net. If you would like an official forwarding email address in the format of firstname.lastname@fandomhigh.net that sends to any email address, let me know and I will set it up.

Last round I missed a few and got swept up in some personal stuff before I could finish up, so it's imperative to get your requests in sooner than later. I will make every effort to get every email address set up and I have a backup plan this time in case life gets away from me.

If you want your own fandomhigh.net address, please reply to this post with the information below. Comments are screened.

Character first name:
Character last name:
Email address to forward to:
Additional notes, concerns:

For maximum humor, keep in mind that these email addresses would be automatically assigned by Fandom High's computer system and use your character's registration info. Try to think of what would be on the official paperwork (Tabitha instead of Turtle, for instance) and use that. This isn't required, I just think it adds that dose of realism.

ETA: Since the domain is school-centric, this is students and teachers only at the moment.
[identity profile] bugofjustice.livejournal.com
I didn't want to clog up the Homecoming post with other stuff, but there are a couple things to note tonight.

First, fandomhigh.net was down again, meaning that any e-mails sent to the admin address on Sunday afternoon or evening may not have come through in a timely manner.

Second, FH.net - which is not affiliated with the Fandom High game in any way that I'm aware of - is the end of the internet. That makes me wonder if there's a secret affiliation that took place before I became admin. *looks around for conspiracy threads*

Third, some guy on [livejournal.com profile] lj_research did a study of social networks on LJ and noted that a very large percentage of the larger social communities (sociological term, not technical LJ term) on LJ are made up of RPGs. One of the two RPGs cited was Fandom High, and the left side of the graph (that I don't actually understand but it has our name on there with an arrow next to it so whatever) is represented by [livejournal.com profile] future_visions. It's pretty cool stuff, even if I don't follow exactly what it's talking about.
[identity profile] notthetindog.livejournal.com
*sigh* Sorry. Standard. Website. E-mail. Down.

Stupid router.
[identity profile] notthetindog.livejournal.com
The site's back up. E-mail's back up. I'm working on a devious plan to make sure we never have this amount of downtime again.
[identity profile] notthetindog.livejournal.com
Profusely sorry about this. The server itself is actually fine. The problem is that there's a router that's blocking everyone from getting to it except downtown Los Angeles -- which is fairly useless to me. The sysadmins at work having been trying to fix the issue for a day now, but they are in downtown LA and they can see the thing just fine. Makes things difficult.

Until further notice, please do not use your fandomhigh.net forwarding addresses.

And believe me, when I get back to work on Sunday, I'm gonna have some words with some folks.

ETA: And we're back. Oh sweet relief!
[identity profile] bruiser-in-pink.livejournal.com
There is currently an issue with some thingy that makes the server work (Look at my tech speak!) or connect or something. So, none of the fandomhigh.net email addresses are working right now. Including the admin address. There is nothing that we can do about it at this time.

If you need to contact the admins, please email one of us individually and we will pass it along. Also, it has apparently been down for a few hours. If you sent anything to the admin email address this afternoon, you might want to take a chance and resend it to one of us.
[identity profile] notthetindog.livejournal.com
The following addresses have been created:

This is a cut )

If you requested an e-mail address and didn't get one, it's either because you didn't state your character's name or a forwarding address. You can make your requests here.
[identity profile] notthetindog.livejournal.com
You know you want it. Lots of other characters have one. Your own IC/OOC and fully functional (forwarding) fandomhigh.net address!

The format is set (for my own sanity) at

firstname.lastname@fandomhigh.net (examples -- mickey.smith@fandomhigh.net, rory.gilmore@fandomhigh.net, the.tick@fandomhigh.net)

...but beyond that, I can forward it to just about any functioning e-mail address. If you would like one of your very own, please comment to this post with your character's full name and preferred destination e-mail.

Oh, and please include the *full* name, the one that might've conceivably been put on the registration forms? Makes it more "real" in the sense of "computers don't get me."

Comments are screened.
[identity profile] drywitmartini.livejournal.com
Hi folks,

We've received word that some people haven't been receiving responses from we admin types for their requests. We respond to every email we get. It may take us a few days, but if you haven't heard from us on the third day after sending in your request, PLEASE check your bulk mail folder. Some email providers have been redirecting our emails there.

If there is nothing in your bulk mail folder, then feel free to email us. The email might have been lost or we may not have an answer yet. There's only one way to find out. We will *not* ignore you and you will *always* get a response to anything you ask us.

Thanks for your time.

FandomHigh.net Update

Thursday, March 30th, 2006 07:17 pm
[personal profile] fh_extras
(do not be alarmed by the green floaty head -- it's merely Data Central from JLA, the Grant Morrison years. It will be the new "hey, website" icon).

Hokay. So the deal is that we have a sweet new server for fandomhigh.net. However, as with any server change, it's going to be a little nuts for a bit. Some dropped e-mails and whatnot. Nothing to be worried about per se, but keep it in mind in case of wonkiness.

After that, I'm hoping to upgrade the site to be super-swank. Of course, that's just one of many projects on my poor, overburdened programming plate, so it may take some time.

If you have any issues, e-mail data DOT central AT fandomhigh.net and I will fix them.
[identity profile] agent-principal.livejournal.com
Would you like a shiny ****@fandomhigh.net e-mail?

Just enter the e-mail address you want it to forward to as a comment here.

EDIT: Apparently, for uniformity sake, they shall all be firstname.lastname@fandomhigh.net

And at current time, only Students/Teachers. Web-personage will possibly (and hopefully) have an option for townies in the near future.

Comments are screened for privacy, yay.
[identity profile] drywitmartini.livejournal.com
All fandomhigh.com addresses are now dead and defunct. If you're using a fandomhigh domain address, you'll need to switch over to fandomhigh.net (and remember to update your user info page) otherwise you won't get your email and comment notifications.

It'd be just like when LJ went crazy, and we all remember how much that sucked. So change 'em over!

Back to your regularly scheduled chaos.
[identity profile] drywitmartini.livejournal.com
Folks, just a reminder. If you want to contact the admins, the address is now administration @ fandomhigh.NET, not .com. It's been mentioned more than once, but there is still mail being sent to .com instead. If you want your email to actually be seen by the admins, send it to .net please.

Now back to your regularly scheduled chaos.
[identity profile] flinkmeister.livejournal.com
Here's the deal: when I go, fandomhigh.com goes with me. It's a free perk of my employment at my company, and it'd be wrong to give it up to somebody else, even if I love them very much.

So, to rectify this, I purchased ya'll a full year of hosting on FandomHigh.net and transferred everything over directly. Files, e-mail addresses, everything. Functionality should continue nearly uninterrupted (one or two things I still have to work on, of course).

So. If you've got a fandomhigh.com e-mail address, I'd suggest changing any reference to it to .net. I'll leave the e-mail addresses on the .com, but be aware that after I've gone, that domain's becoming my personal testing playground for PHP applications. .net is the place to be, yo.

E-mail Note

Sunday, October 23rd, 2005 05:33 pm
[identity profile] flinkmeister.livejournal.com
The Student Directory is not reflective of the existence of actual e-mail addresses. Please check the specific users userinfo. I will be changing this in the future, but for the moment, the Student Directory is not a good place to check for e-mail addresses for characters.

Furthermore, if you have fandomhigh.com e-mail address in your userinfo, and that e-mail addy hasn't been confirmed yet, stop using it. Mail sent there will not magically reach its destination by force of will, and there will be a lot of players who will want to know why you didn't get their communication.

For the record, the following e-mail addresses do not exist:

lana.lang
julian.sark

Also, I have murphy.macmanus misspelled. I'll fix that now.
[identity profile] flinkmeister.livejournal.com
1) If you've requested an e-mail address and I haven't gotten back to you, poke me here.

2) The School Directory is woefully outdated. If you're not in there and you should be, let me know. If there's someone who's in there and they should not be, let me know.

3) I'm very disorganized right now, which is IC but not fun. If you've volunteered to do a section of the website, sound off here with which section that is and if I've given you the go-ahead to work on it. I know there's at least one area where I've had multiple requests and assigned no-one.

4) Despite my previous freak-out, it's perfectly acceptable to link to the website from your userinfo, since your userinfo makes it perfectly clear that you are a character in an RP. Liability in that scenario is minimal. Thanks to the few kind offers to move the site, but the flipside of the coin is that I have to maintain this account for work purposes.

E-mail Issues

Wednesday, October 12th, 2005 11:27 pm
[identity profile] flinkmeister.livejournal.com
There appear to be some issues with the forwarding accounts I just set up. Working on them.

ETA: The following e-mail accounts are being typed incorrectly... )

Please, please, please do *not* use a fandomhigh.com address until it's been confirmed. I will delete any e-mail in the catch-all.
