All are welcome, though if folks are looking for suggestions at this second in time extra rescuers who don't mind who they rescue would be handy. But seriously throw in whatever makes your heart happy, we'll make it work :)

Let me know if you have any questions.

Hello one and all! We interrupt your regularly scheduled Field of Dreams-ing to alert you to another plot which will be kicking off at the end of the month. (Why tell you so early? Because so many of you are going to be offline at SDCC busy with your characters turning into animals in the middle of this month, that’s why.)

So! Starting on July 31 there shall be not a Big Damn Event but a WTH: Wee Tiny Happening. Okay maybe not that small but let me have my acronyms, damn it.

The quick elevator pitch for involvement is that the plot involves missing persons and the rescue thereof. Therefore the call for volunteers is for people who are interested in their characters going missing and for those characters who might like to rescue them. Sound interesting? Hopefully? Cool!

For more detailed information, let us go behind a cut tag Not to be confused with a happening of weetinies which is a totally different event )

And there we have it! Questions? Comments? Signups? Things will be screened for spoiler purposes but stuff will be unscreened if it’s relevant to all.

DEADLINE TO SIGNUP IS 11:59 PM EASTERN, WEDNESDAY JULY 12.

Thanks!

Event: FIRE DRILL

Hey there everyone! Having a normal day? Planning to, I don't know, do six different Olympic-themed jello shots today?

Bad news: tomorrow, July 29th, Fandom will be enjoying an ISLAND-WIDE FIRE DRILL. Around, roughly, 3 AM.

Fire alarms will be going off in the dorms and both apartment buildings -- and hey, do you live above your shop? Maybe you have a house? Too bad, your smoke alarms are going to be losing their shit, too.

There is no turning off or disabling the alarms -- they'll just stop, roughly around 4-4:30 AM.

Posts will be going up for MCA, MHA and the dorms. If you have your own house/apartment above your shop, you are welcome to make your own posts in which to be cranky, or to wander into another.

So, look up cute jammies (that your character would actually wear -- maybe they brought a charming onesie home from the slumber party last week?) and get ready to be deeply, deeply cranky first thing in the morning.

Interrupting your surely-delightful Friday afternoons here with a reminder that should you choose to participate, tomorrow kicks off My Little Pony Weekend.

If you have not yet made icons, there are some fabulous pony-creators here and here.

Enjoy the use of your hands while you have them, friends!

Hello, friends! Did you wake up in a desolate hellscape, like I did? Fear not, because we have crack on the horizon.

That's right: it's the return of My Little Pony Weekend! Next weekend (November 14-15), for those who choose to participate, your character will be transformed into a My Little Pony-style pony.

What does that mean? It means that they are a (full-sized, not toy-sized) pony from the moment they wake up on Saturday until when they wake up again in their normal shape on Monday morning, complete with rounded, useless hooves and a cutie mark on their butt, should you choose!

There's also options to make them unicorns, give them wings, make them a zebra - go nuts. You can find pony generators out there in the wild (though there are definitely fewer than there were in 2011), but this one for Pony Island is reliable and offers a lot of options.

QUESTIONS? COMMENTS? Pre-emptive bitching from your characters?

Yet more daily events!

Friday, October 23 - Brooms just keep appearing everywhere
Saturday, October 24 - Leaf Piles appear all over to jump into like a ball pit
Sunday, October 25 - Dramatic cracks of thunder and lightning, but oddly enough, no storm.
Monday, October 26 - Dancing pumpkin people. And skeletons. Because you gotta have both.
Tuesday, October 27 - Boots, scarves and vests show up on trees to be picked
Wednesday, October 28 - Creepy noises can be heard anytime you're alone. Good luck sleeping!
Thursday, October 29 - Everything is spiders. Everything. By which we really just mean there are so many spiders around.
Friday, October 30 - Jack-o-lanterns appear in every window

All leading up tooooo...

The return of turning into your costume! Completely up to you if it happens to your character or not, of course. But, as soon as dusk falls, those who opt in will turn into their costumes until the evening ends at the stroke of midnight. If you're a witch, you'll turn into whatever idea you had for who that witch was for a few hours. If you dressed up as Wendy the Werewolf Stalker, you're going to be that character for the night.

And of course you'll remember everything after you transform, because we're fun like that.

So, have fun picking a costume, folks!

Since the spooookiest time of year is just around the corner and people will be returning from the fall break tomorrow, it's time for... well, we've been calling it Halloween advent, so let's stick with that.

Starting tomorrow! We have:

Saturday, October 17 - Candy corn rain
Sunday, October 18 - Black Cats In Tiny Witch Hats Everywhere And It's Freaking Adorable
Monday, October 19 - Bowls of bite size candy appear in every room. The downside? One piece is black licorice.
Tuesday, October 20 - Tiny pumpkins falling out of drawers and cabinets
Wednesday, October 21 - Pumpkin spice lattes out of the faucets
Thursday, October 22 - Tiny toads clinging to you for safety

More things will be announced next week, but if you're like me and have a brain made of Swiss cheese, it'll be broken up into two more manageable announcements.

We interrupt your preparations for Parent's Weekend to give you another thing to think about for the weekend following.

Starting Saturday morning, October 3rd through October 4th, the island will suddenly house daemons! For anyone who doesn't know or hasn't absorbed the information through cultural osmosis, these are essentially the physical manifestations of your souls. In animal form.

As one does.

They can be whatever animal you like! Within reason. Please don't have a blue whale daemon, that would be baaaaad. Mostly for that poor, poor whale.

Wanna feel real old? Here's the link to the last time we did this.

Questions? Comments? Adorable animal gifs?

Due to some dimensional shenanigans, next week we will be seeing heightened gremlin activity. Not only will this be happening on the island but because there will be a slight rip in the space time continuum it will also mean that alumni and expatriates get to join in on the fun.

Starting the evening of Monday, September 28th - Friday evening, October 2nd, gremlins will be popping through quickly opening and closing portals. In addition they will be aggravated as the cells in their bodies aren't getting along with the rest of the universe as they will be "glitching".

More details under the cut )

Questions? Comments? Leave them under the post.

Hey-o, Fandom! We interrupt your quiet Sunday to announce that next weekend (November 12th/13th) will be Cyberpunk Weekend! Much in the vein of events like Soap Opera Weekend, on this weekend, everything on the island will get turned into a dark, terrifying cyberpunk-stravaganza. An island on which Bo is not a succubus... but a sexbot, programmed to kill. The island's bars... could become simulation dens, where the rich and powerful pay good money to jack their brains into cyberspace! And of course, there is a sinister conspiracy at the heart of it all...

Maybe multiple sinister conspiracies. Maybe everyone's a robot. Maybe everyone thinks everyone is a robot, but they are not, in fact, robots! Maybe... well, you get the gist. (Or maybe your character wakes up that morning and is normal. It's entirely possible.) Cyberpunk tropes are here, if you need inspiration!

After Cyberpunk Weekend has passed, we continue on to Weetiny Weekend is up on November 19th-20th! You all know these by now, but let's run you through the rules anyway:

- Students, teachers, and townies alike will wake up on Saturday as pint-sized versions of themselves.
- Participation is completely optional.
- If you choose to participate, your character needs to wake up as a kid on Saturday morning and stay that way the whole weekend until waking up back to normal on Monday morning.
- The kids won't be terrified to wake up in Fandom, due to the wackiness. It's more like they've always been here.
- Clothing will be shrunk down as well, and all the weapons will turn into toys so no one can hurt themselves accidentally.
- This is open to alumni and expats as well!

And that is all. Let us know if you have any questions!

Hello, Fandomites!

The weekend of April 2nd - 3rd will be 20 Years Reunion weekend at Fandom High! On Friday, April 1st, all the alumni and expats of Fandom will be invited back for a truly Fandom April Fools' Day dance, to have a little fun and meet a few old friends. But after everyone goes to bed that night, Fandom magic sets in, and a whole different alumni-and-expat event will take place... as the twenty-year-older versions of everyone (should they so choose) on-island are going to find themselves waking up in their old dorm rooms, homes, or hotel rooms.

Yes, that means this time, the event is open to everyone: townies, teachers, students, expats and alumni! The twenty-year-older versions of your characters will be temporarily replacing their younger selves for the weekend, thinking that they're coming back for a normal reunion. On Monday, everyone'll be back to normal - with or without memories of the event, depending on your preference. Remember: these are possible futures, so feel free to go wild with it - who knows how things will actually pan out!

Today it begins! The stolp bugs (no relation, we promise!) will start arriving in Fandom town throughout the day today (Wednesday). Feel free to mod their arrival in your homes along with the constant crooning of Celine Dion music and lyrics. It's certain to annoy many while pleasing few.

On Thursday, an announcement will be made inviting all to stay in the cabins for the duration of the extermination efforts, and teachers and townies will be welcomed into the cabins with open arms. For your OOC-planning needs, here is the adult cabin listing in gdoc form and a table, too. Bookmark at will or ignore entirely and sleep in front of the campfire. No one will judge.

Cut for tableness. )

Tomorrow (Friday September 5th), the island will be invaded by a wee plague of drunk skunks.

These skunks are fully moddable and will stumble around the island, spraying people or telling them "I LOVE YOUZ!", clinging tenaciously to toilets or sitting around dazed and spouting gibberish, trying to drink soda from the wrong end of the can or randomly falling asleep on you-- or anything else one might picture a drunk skunk doing!

They'll be gone for better parties at midnight tomorrow, so getcher drunk skunk in while you can!
[identity profile] idontlooktired.livejournal.com
This is my very last post as an admin, and it is one hundred percent pure pun!

Monday, the first day of class and the first day of new semester goodness, will also be our new characters' first taste of Fandom weirdness.

Vicious circles are going to invade. These critters are round like a basketball, and about the same size, covered in fluffy fur in various colours, with teeth, who will swarm after you and try and bite your ankles. No legs, so they can only roll, and bounce just high enough to get up stairs.

If you kill them (and they are so easy to kill - squash them, kick them, drop a book on them, drop them out a window, use harsh language), they split into TWO smaller hairy round critters with teeth who will still try and bite you. Each of those will split into two and now you've got four vicious circles trying to savage your ankles!

And so on ad infinitum until they disappear at midnight on Monday.

Ahh, puns.
[identity profile] vkandis-son.livejournal.com
Hi all!

A couple of important dates are coming up. We have return to the dorms, and we have the last day that those who won't be with us next semester can be on the island.

Return to the dorms: Sunday, Sunday, Sunday! For one day only, the 24th of August, we have return to the dorms!

Last day to be on the island:
Alumni, teachers who are leaving us, and students who won't be returning next semester need to be off the island by Thursday, 28 August. Which is also the Day of the Flavouring, so there will be one last touch of weirdness before they leave.

(Also, you have about nine-ish hours before apps close - midnight PST - there's still time!)
[identity profile] cheminthehead.livejournal.com
Today, people can catch glimpses of ships sailing past the island, or planes flying low over the sea, as those which have disappeared (or are rumoured to have done so) become visible. Nothing should actually land on or fly over the island (and no people can be seen), though, and they won't have aged from the date they disappeared.

For reference, this seems to be a great site, detailing the disappearances by time period (and I had no idea so many craft had gone missing): The Bermuda Triangle chronology
[identity profile] vkandis-son.livejournal.com
That's right, Fandom is now in the Bermuda triangle, as illustrated here. The portal to Alexandria is still there, which is just as well as the end of the Causeway is shrouded in heavy fog and leads…to itself.

Anyone walking off the end of the Causeway will be enveloped in fog and find themselves walking back onto the Causeway, facing Fandom. (If someone doesn't go and have a handball/squash/something game down there by throwing the ball into the fog and hitting it when it comes out I'm going to be very disappointed).

It's the Bermuda Triangle, so of course there's going to be some random events. These ones, in fact:

Tuesday: Everything is wrapped in bubblewrap - EVERYTHING. Well, not people, but everything else. Fandom may be just a wee bit overprotective after the weekend and now they're in the BERMUDA TRIANGLE and all.

Wednesday: The entire island is flooded with thick pea soupy fog, so people can't see more than a foot in front of their face and sound is muffled.

Friday: Bermuda shorts. Everyone's bottom-half clothing has turned into Bermuda shorts. Really loud and tacky Bermuda shorts.

Saturday: Animals start acting oddly, as if they're disturbed by something.

Sunday: Timepieces and compasses start going weird - displaying random times, skipping ahead super fast, going backwards, and compass needles will just spin.

We also have an ongoing random effect.

Throughout the week

People simply get lost. They thought they were walking down Apocalypse Avenue and suddenly they're turning into Turtle and Canary; thought they were going into the cabin common room and find themselves walking into someone's campfire post. You get the idea.

There will also be random appearances of things which legend has it have been lost in the Triangle.

Guys guys guys!

[identity profile] mouthy-merc.livejournal.com
Yes, boys and girls, it's that time of year again. The first weekend in August, the 2nd and 3rd to be exact, all adults will turn into weetiny kids.

A reminder for those who don't remember or this is their first time doing this:

- The kids will not be terrified of waking up on a big island due to Fandom wacky.
- Also due to that wacky, weapons will be toys so no one can get themselves hurt.
- Clothing will be mysteriously shrunk down as well. Because we don't need another naked mutiny with small ones running about.
- This is for Townies and Teachers!
- If you choose to participate, waking up that Saturday your character will be a kid the whole weekend through until waking up Monday morning again.

Yes, today is that day. Talk like a pirate day.

But not Talk Like A Pirate Day, which is on a different day entirely.

This is just a day for talking like a pirate, unofficially, and isn't in any way associated with Talk Like A Pirate Day. That's in September. It's still only July.

Umm, where was I? Right. Sorry. Today's piratical random event is that the people of Fandom will be sore afflicted with a speech problem: namely, they talk like pirates!

In order to make this easier: Look! Translator!

Also, if people wanted to adopt pirate names to go with their pirate speech: Ta da!

I think today's Fandom Weirdness would extend to people being struck with the sudden desire to adopt piratical monikers and introduce themselves as same.

One of the topics that was brought up in the Open Forum was the common nervousness that comes with playing with new people, especially for those who are fairly new to the game. We all tend to fall into comfortable circles of playing, so to try to help with this and shake things up a little, we're stealing borrowing with love an idea from another pan-fandom island game.

We're declaring this week Tag Someone New Week. The point is, simply, to play out a thread or a post with someone you've never played with before, whether it's a character you've never interacted with, or a player you've never played with. This isn't mandatory, just something designed to try to get rid of some of the apprehension that comes from playing with someone for the first time.

Today's Random Event!

Thursday, July 17th, 2008 07:46 pm
[identity profile] cheminthehead.livejournal.com
Today Fandom will be inundated by duelling pirates. These pirates, however, don't duel with swords - well, they do, but it's not the swing of the sword that determines whether you live or die*, it's the lash of your tongue.

Their thrust and parry are insults. For an idea of what this involves, head over here. And here (I'd turn the sound off, though)!

If you lose, these pirates won't run you through, but rather simply rap you over the knuckles or smack you upside the head or something similar. Possibly steal your shoes. Or your pants.**

So rally your insults and hoist the puns high, for the pirates of insult are feeling quite spry.

_____________________
*Please don't actually die.
**These are more like guidelines.

...is it just me, or is this post kind of dirty?
[identity profile] cheminthehead.livejournal.com
A reminder post will still go up in the early hours, but here's a schedule so you can plan in advance:

Tues: Invasion of parrots who cling to your shoulder and repeat everything you say.

Wed: Pi-rats! Some of whom break into spontaneous pirate operetta that sounds suspiciously like Gilbert & Sullivan.

Thur: Invasion of (moddable) pirates who will swordfight anyone they see, but exchanging blows means exchanging insults (bonus points if you can get your insults to rhyme with theirs).

Fri: Tor-toga party. Held in the park - it was supposed to be a Tortuga party, celebrating its culture and food and all that, but due to a misprint, the posters all say its a TOGA party!

Sat: Invasion of wee deadly pirates. They're classic pillaging and looting pirates ... which would be terrifying if they weren't six inches tall.

Sun/Mon: Sun morning people awake to find their clothes have turned into pirate costumes. Which is handy, because the island accidentally slipped through a time warp back to the 1600s, and it's pirates ahoy! Ships sailing, drinking and carousing and adventure on Tortuga.

Tues: The taps of Fandom run with rum, grog, and ale (ginger ale for the non-drinkers), instead of water.

Wed: CITRUS FRUIT EVERYWHERE. Open a cupboard? Face full of limes. Open a door? Covered in oranges. You get the idea.

Thur: Talk like a pirate day!

And over on Tortuga itself, there are random cannonballs to be avoided, glimpses of teams playing baseball badly and of three headed monkeys to be had, as well as lots of shipwrecks, abandoned pirate hideouts, ruined forts, and general pirate detritus that remains from hundreds of years ago. Also, anyone randomly digging on Tortuga will find buried treasure - essentially worthless, but pretty or silly or punny.

(All credit to those who came up with the ideas!)

It's also a really gorgeous tropical island, with rainforest and beaches and little towns that aren't populated by pirates! At least, they say they aren't pirates. But you can't really trust a pirate to tell the truth, so who can know for sure.
[identity profile] cheminthehead.livejournal.com
Everywhere, X's! They've appeared randomly all over the island -- they might be on the ground, on your desk, on your shoe, in a tree.

But X's arent just X's, because X always marks the spot! Wherever there's an X, there must be treasure! In this case, wee pirate chests filled with chocolate gold coins will be somewhere nearby (under the ground, in a drawer, in your shoe, in a crook of the tree).

We'll get a schedule of random piratical events up as soon as we can.
[identity profile] idontlooktired.livejournal.com
*waves* Hi all.

The island moves to Tortuga tonight, and as we all know, Tortuga was totally about the pirates.

So, given Tortuga island's piratical history, and Fandom island's congenital weirdness -- would anyone like to suggest some piratical random events for the next fortnight?

(Also, I really like the word piratical.)
[identity profile] vkandis-son.livejournal.com
Greetings!

So, tomorrow the island will be invaded by polar bears. But not just any polar bears! These are friendly, intelligent polar bears, who are dedicated to pushing a certain ribbon branded cola drink on everyone they find.

And, before anyone says 'But there's no polar bears in Antarctica!' (but mostly so I can share this info 'cause it's really cool), there are now! A conservation program began moving the bears to Antarctica in April this year, at a cost of ten thousand per bear. Apparently it's cheaper to preserve the species in this way than to allow them to make it onto the endangered species list, and Antarctica can support them easily.

The ones that wander over to Fandom will have brought a lot of ribbon branded cola drink with them and they will be most insistent that they share. They can only be appeased by taking the cola and drinking it down.

A post will go up in the morning with the bears arriving. You can mod the bears, or if you want an actual bear to play with, just leave a note on an open post, or drop an OOC comment in the bear arrival post with a link, and I shall send you a bear!

Friday event!

[identity profile] vkandis-son.livejournal.com
Hey there!

We're going to be having our Fortnightly Friday Event this week instead of next week, to fit in with the fourth of July.

Paradise Bay, which is where Fandom Island is currently located, is the stopping off point for all those cruise ships brave enough to make it to Antarctica. As such, the Fandomites are going to hop on board one of those and enjoy an ultra-luxurious cruise around the small islands off Antarctica.

There will be drinking and dancing, food and fireworks, and seeing as it's a big cruise ship, there will also be lots of moddable guests already aboard, should you want to make use of them.

The post will go up in the wee hours of EST's morning for SP all through the day.

Hello alumni! This is directed at those alumni still in Fandom, but has some information for alumni off-island as well (and there's a note down the bottom for characters leaving for good).

Leaving Date: All alumni must be on their merry way and out of Fandom by August 31. Please keep in mind though that we'll be getting a stack of new characters around that time, so if you want your farewell to get some attention, make sure you consult the others still on weekenisland to stagger your departures.

Homecoming: All alumni are, as usual, welcome back in Fandom for Homecoming. You guys will be able to stay at the Arms Hotel or anywhere else in town. You'll be able to wander about on campus for that weekend, but not stay on campus. We'll have dates for that ASAP once we figure out the other key events for the semester.

Other Events: In addition to Homecoming, we'll be having a few more scheduled days where alumni can come back to Fandom for the day. Unless otherwise specified, the day will just be a single day, so the alumni coming to visit will have to be off the island by the following morning. Again, you'll be staying in town but will have access to the campus. You're welcome to try to be involved in plots on those days (dates pending), but please keep in mind that you may not be the only one wanting to run a plot then, some may clash with others and we might have to ask you to hold off until next time. The best way to avoid this is to get in early.

Leaving Characters: For all non-alumni characters leaving Fandom, you'll also need to be off-island by August 31 as the new semester starts the following Monday.

Thanks guys!

BDE and You

Friday, July 13th, 2007 11:30 pm
[identity profile] ismyhairout.livejournal.com
Hello!

Today, our BDE friends will be appearing. That is to say, dinosaurs and other prehistoric creatures will be fading into existence around Fandom.

There will be no fighting today. That will be for tomorrow and Sunday. You can interact with the dinos that appear today and there will be a post made available for that tonight, but they will not be aggressive types and are not open for fighting, so please don't provoke them.

For those who haven't been through a BDE before or those who might want a refresher, here's a basic run-down of what goes on.

Friday: Dinosaurs and other creatures appear! No fighty, but by Friday night you can probably get the feeling that something bad/weird is about to happen.

Saturday: The attack begins. This will occur in a specific post and will contain an OOC note at the bottom giving instructions and opening it up to the rest of the town. There will be a post for specific locations for the big fights and plenty of smaller dinosaurs (raptors omg) running around to wreak havoc. Also, research in the library (see thread below).

Saturday Night: You will need to find somewhere either in the dorms or in town to settle in for the night. It will not be safe at all to wander around and you're as good as dead if you do. If you want to be with someone in particular, be sure to arrange it OOCly because you're not going to be able to move around during the night. A Council of War (consisting of the people in charge and whoever else is at Caritas) will come up with a plan of attack for the next day. It will not necessarily succeed.

Sunday: More fighting and there will be a big grand fight with a bunch of dinosaurs and a special guest at the Rocky Bits. At the same time, people from the research crowd will have figured out how to get rid of the dinosaurs (and how they got here) and will be enacting a plan to do just that. The dinosaurs will be gone on Sunday night and everything will be back to relative normality by Monday morning.

Stuff You Should Know

* Due to the nature of the enemy's appearance in Fandom, magic will not be as effective as it normally would. Any attempts to outright dispose of the enemy with magic will fail. Attempts to freeze or damage the enemy will not be as effective as usual and will sap the magic user's energy more than they expect it to. Powers such as alchemy, bending and superpowers will not be affected unless it involves a deus ex machina type result.

* The BDE has a set beginning and a set end. You don't have to worry about those parts. We've got it covered. Please don't try to act out your own way to save the day and get rid of the enemy and expect it to work. It won't, because it's much more fun if everyone gets their chance to fight and play for the weekend.

* There are actual people who play the dinosaurs out of [livejournal.com profile] fh_fillers (since we're almost out of icons on [livejournal.com profile] fh_extras). In the main fighting post, there will always be someone looking out for new people wanting a fight, but it may take time so please be patient. Also, if you do not want dinosaurs to appear in your other posts around town (including business posts), please specifically say so in an OOC note down the bottom or everywhere (excluding Caritas, the clinic and the dorms) is free game for chaos provided there is a post up!

* On a similar note, as with any combat-type thread, don't mod your opponent (dino) or their reaction. And please, we are limited in numbers, so make the most of the fight scenes you get.

* If you want a serious injury (that is anything from deep cuts to concussion to very nearly losing a limb to stuff that will require surgery) please use the thread below to state your intentions. This will assist the clinic staff. Also a brief OOC note in your combat thread will remind the NPC dinosaur player to help you out. If you don't state your serious injury here, you're not getting it. No "surprise amputation!" please.

BDE This Weekend

Hi!

For the newbies: a BDE (Big Damn Event) is a weekend-long event (usually from Friday afternoon/evening until Sunday evening) that affects the WHOLE ISLAND. It's one of those things that can't be avoided, that gets just about every character involved if they're around and is quite a lot of fun. Previous examples include Zombie Weekend (zombies invaded!), Snow Weekend (snowmen and beasts invaded!), Troll Weekend (trolls invaded!) and the Flood that involved lots of water, Hades' brother Poseidon and a bunch of mermaids (mermaids invaded!). See a trend?

THIS WEEKEND (July 14-15) there will be another BDE. It won't be your standard fare, but the timing will be the same. Things will slowly fall into place on Friday night, the action will kick up on Saturday, you'll probably have to find refuge somewhere on Saturday night and then the action will continue on Sunday until the prepared finale on Sunday night.

What we need are volunteers! If you're interested in playing an NPC for us over the weekend, please let us know if and when you'll be available to do it.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled week with no sense of impending doom whatsoever.

Today's event

I swear I posted about this on Wednesday night. I think I may have dreamt that I did. Oops.

Okay, hopefully people saw the posters I put up the other day. Today's event is supposed to be a Fun Run to raise money for the Teal Deer Sanctuary which is open to everyone on the island. That... won't quiet happen, however. Something will be happening to interrupt the run and cause a bit of chaos for the afternoon. Hopefully it will be fun.

The post will be going up shortly. As is usual with these interrupted events, there will be some threads that are waiting for a specific event to occur and everyone should wait to react to those until the proper person pings in.

If anybody has any questions before I get the OOC thread in the post up, please feel free to ask them here.

So as of here, all of Fandom is experiencing a blackout. This begins at dawn on Wednesday morning, and will be resolved sometime during the night on Wednesday.

If you really want to avoid it (or if your class requires it, or somesuch), it could be possible to say you got very lucky (maybe lights are dimmed or something), but what's the fun in that?

Any questions?

With apologies to whomever gets Friday radio this summer, we're going to be repeating one of the more successful things from last summer, the Friday Special Events. In game, every Friday afternoon will be dedicated to some sort of special event. Some of last year's events that stand a good chance of being repeated include a music festival, a summer carnival, and a talent show. Every week there will be an OOC post giving you any information you'll need for that week's event.

To kick off the summer, this Friday will feature a Welcome to Fandom Luau at the main campfire. There will be Hawaiian music, something roasting over the fire, and everyone will get lei'd! Look, I'm making the joke now while I can. Everyone is invited!

We're still knocking out the schedule for the rest of Session 1, but we should be able to supply more information next week.

Graduation Guests

Hi guys, sorry about not putting this up sooner. All graduation guests that were submitted are good to come to Fandom tomorrow morning. Look forward to seeing them!
[identity profile] bugofjustice.livejournal.com
Well, Graduation is almost upon us. With graduation comes graduation-type events (yes, that is a technical term). What follows is a guide to the weekend.

THURSDAY
We will be having a faculty party on Thursday, mainly to get it in before the friends and family show up. Teachers only, please. We'll be celebrating another year in the books and bid farewell to those who will be leaving us shortly. We'll be heading back to the cruise ship in the Danger Shop from last year unless anyone can convince me to go with something else. There may be a dartboard with Jamie Madrox's face on it. This is, after all, a celebration for the teachers.

FRIDAY
GRADUATION GUESTS ARRIVE. HUZZAH! Also, Spider-Man 3 opens. SEE IT, PEOPLE. What? This is my post, I'll pimp what I want to.
Also, the lovely people from Seahorse cabin last summer will be hosting a party. All are welcome!

SATURDAY
Graduation itself. We're looking towards a fun ceremony this year with music, speakers, and maybe a couple of surprises. Part I of the ceremony will be posted late Friday night US time so people have plenty of time to ping in.

SUNDAY
This weekend's brunch will be one of those special In The Park numbers, where our new graduates and their guests are our guests of honor. Everyone else can show up, but who cares about them? They don't have diplomas.

MONDAY
The guests of our graduates must leave during the day. Once they're all gone, there shall be a party for the seniors. Your families are gone! High school is over! YOU SURVIVED IN SO MANY WAYS!

So, pretty simple schedule, but it keeps you informed.

That's not it for announcements tonight, though. We'll have another post up soon that people should be excited about. No more about that now, though!

Weetiny Weekend!

Saturday, April 28th, 2007 10:56 pm
[identity profile] ismyhairout.livejournal.com
Hooray!

For those of you who weren't here last time, here's the sitch on Weetiny Weekend:

* Students only
* If your character wakes up as a kidlet this morning, they stay as a kidlet until they fall asleep on Sunday night (and then wake up normal on Monday morning)
* If your character wakes up normal this morning, they stay normal for the entire weekend (no switching later on!)
* They think that being in Fandom with their friends and without their family is totally normal
* They think that being weetiny is normal
* Their clothes have weetinified to fit them thanks to the handwaviness of Fandom

Enjoy!

ETA: All weapons belonging to students/that students can get access to are now toys and therefore harmless. Still, try not to poke anyone's eye out or you'll have to go sit in the corner! And no dessert after dinner!
[identity profile] ismyhairout.livejournal.com
Hello!

If you were planning on doing anything other than sit at the computer next weekend (April 28-29), you might want to change those plans. Why? It's the return of Weetiny Weekend!

That's right, all STUDENTS will have the option of turning into tiny tots (age 10 and under) overnight on Friday night. They will wake up as young'uns and think that's perfectly normal, but still recognize their surroundings and their friends. They'll just be wee. This will run until Sunday night and by Monday morning, the tots will have woken up in their regular teenage form.

Adults (teachers and townies) will remain their regular selves. Poor things.

The weetininess (and I swear, that's a word now) is totally voluntarily and due to the handwavey nature of Fandom. So if you don't want to be a kid, you don't have to be, but do consider it because it's an absolute blast.

Questions, comments, cake? You know where to find us.

Hello seniors!

Graduation is coming up quickly, so it's time to get on the ball and get things organized. Here's an information dump post with everything you need to know about graduation and everything we need to know from you.

Pre-Graduation Events
There will be a pre-graduation hoorah party on Friday, May 4.
There will be a post-graduation brunch on Sunday, May 6.

There will possibly also be a few smaller events the week before graduation. Details pending.

Graduation Ceremony

When: Saturday, May 5, 2007
Where: Fandom High
What: A ceremony with a musical performance and guest speakers. Seniors will receive their senior diploma. (And come on, it's Fandom High, you know something big is going to happen)
Who: Seniors, guests/guardians of seniors (max 3) and current alumni.

Invited Guests

Graduating seniors can have up to 3 guests come to Fandom for the ceremony. If you really need more than 3 for some reason, contact us. There can be exceptions to the maximum for good reasons. They can arrive on Friday, May 4 and must leave by the morning of Monday, May 7.

All guests (including returning alumni) will be required to stay in town. The Arms Hotel will be available for rooms with a discounted weekend package deal. Guests will be allowed on campus for the weekend.

Invited guest NPCs can have their own journal (ala Parents Weekend), but all guests (whether your character knows about their appearance ICly or not) must be approved in advance.

Please provide us with the following information for each guest:
Name:
Relationship to Student:
Journal Name:
Who will be playing this character?: (outsiders welcome)

In order for your guest/s to attend, you must submit this information by Wednesday, May 2. No late submissions will be accepted. Email them to administration@fandomhigh.net

Again, this is only for seniors. Other classes are more than welcome to attend, but you can't bring your own guests.

Staying in Fandom Over Summer

We gathered tentative answers from you before, but now we need to know for sure if you intend on staying in Fandom for Summer Semester Term 1. You may leave for Term 1 and return for Term 2, but will have to be gone by the end of the Summer.

Graduating seniors who are remaining in Fandom must have a set activity that they will actively participate in. There will be the opportunity to participate a construction/manual labor effort or you may be a "TA" type workshop assistant for a teacher (you must arrange this yourself with a teacher, one workshop assistant per workshop) or you now have the option of leading a workshop yourself.

Please note, by submitting a proposal to lead a workshop you agree to stick around for the whole term, will be treated like a teacher, will be expected to act like a teacher and will be required to abide by the same rules as a teacher (exception being that you can still go into common room/campfire posts).

If you wish to lead a workshop, please submit your proposal here:
http://community.livejournal.com/fandomhigh_ooc/413066.html

Please don't send in proposals for any weapons/explosives/combat/survival type courses. We have plenty and won't be accepting any more. Feel free to contact one of the admins or mods to discuss possible options. Your submission for workshops must be in by Thursday, April 26. No late submissions will be accepted.

ETA: Post has been edited to fix up the form for invited guests and tell you where to send the info.

ETA 2: As with last year, all residents of Fandom are welcome to attend the ceremony. The only people that are considered 'invited guests' are people from off the island.

*sniffles*

Just a quick note to thank everyone for participating in the ZOMGIHAVEAKID?! event.

Special thanks goes out to [livejournal.com profile] courier_gavin and [livejournal.com profile] needsaparrot for inspiring the whole thing.

I also want to say that y'all are evil for making me emo last night from the vortex post.

Don't ever do that again.

Computer Science students are broadcasting today through computer, television and radio - random broadcasts, whatever they choose. Of course, that means that it's entirely possible for anyone in Fandom (school or town) to pick up on them.

Radio broadcasts

Television broadcasts

Computer broadcasts

Feel free to have your characters pick up on one or more of these (if any are made) and react accordingly or, you know, shrug and move on as is the way of Fandom sometimes.

Any questions for me, feel free to ping here, in the OOC thread on the class post, or grab me on IM or email.

Hello, damp people! Just a few quick notes to get you up to speed.

*The rain is tapering off and ending this morning. I actually meant to have this happen yesterday but, egads, look at the size of that OOC post from then. Not a shock that I forgot something. It will be cloudy and in the 50's (Farenheit) just like the mainland. Just with a lot of water.

*After getting beat up by Ares yesterday, the giant squid has fled so there won't be any squid wrestling today.

*There will be a relatively low-key finale tonight (if you've been paying attention, you may even know exactly what it is) but it will still take the night to drain Fandom of the massive flooding. Because of this, I don't know how likely a celebration party is, but we will still have a park filled with dolphins, so I suggest a pool party in the park. Maybe that's just me but I think partying with dolphins would be the best thing ever. I'm leaving that up to other people, though.

*In terms of fighty posts, there will be a Preserve post put up this afternoon with the express purpose of fighting mer-people. I'm aware of at least one other post that will be going up that will involve some NPC fighting, yarr. (That may be a hint.)

I think that's all I have at the moment in terms of game stuff in my Sunday-morning-just-woke-up-have. Thank you all for running with this insanity! And if you're in the US, don't forget that Daylight Savings now starts today, so it's an hour later than you're used to it being on the second Sunday in March.
