Today launches a three-day random event of sorts. I say of sorts because it does have a reason that will be resolved through a personal plot later this week, but it certainly seems random to everyone else.

As of today, your character may notice that books aren't exactly reading the way they used to read. For example, a Charles Dickens novel may suddenly have a talking peacock in it or your character may find that the whale in Moby Dick has had to fight off flying saucers. Characters may change too, such as finding Beowulf hanging out in 1984 or Ebenezer Scrooge on trial for witchcraft in The Crucible.

Go wild with it! All I ask is that you don't touch Pride & Prejudice or Alice's Adventures in Wonderland for plotty purposes and please remember to meta where necessary!

So as of here, all of Fandom is experiencing a blackout. This begins at dawn on Wednesday morning, and will be resolved sometime during the night on Wednesday.

If you really want to avoid it (or if your class requires it, or somesuch), it could be possible to say you got very lucky (maybe lights are dimmed or something), but what's the fun in that?

Okay, the finale is in full swing now (mostly). Once the spell is read (which would have happened around sundown), the energy and life force stolen from everybody will slowly start to flow back to them. It can take as much of the evening as you want it to, but everyone should be completely normal for sure by morning.

I apologize that this announcement wasn't posted sooner. We had to do a bit of shuffling tonight and it slipped our minds. We both hope that this doesn't mess anyone up. Thank you.

With all of the characters at

fandomhigh running around with special powers and abilities, we wanted to clarify things for those with "normal" characters, who have wondered about what kinds of abilities they can learn from others within the game.

The basic answer is, it depends on your canon, and on the canon that the powers/abilities are coming from. Any ability that requires an innate skill, or that a person is born with, or that comes from a mutation is off limits in most cases. But this doesn't mean that learning all abilities is off limits. For example, Rory can certainly learn how to meditate - but she'll never be able to access the Force. (Woe!)

If your canon is highly reality-based, and there isn't much info on what kinds of special abilities your character could learn, keep the other canon involved in mind. For example, your character might not come from a canon where it's explicitly stated that they could learn how to block their thoughts from a telepath, but if the telepath comes from a canon where regular people can learn how to do that, then it's conceivable that your character could learn too.

The key here is the word learn. New skills shouldn't be something that the character can do automatically, and while the admins might not necessarily be watching for this sort of thing, it's something we want everyone to keep in mind. If you don't know whether or not your character could pick a skill up from someone else, ask them. OOC communication is love. If you want to do something that involves acquiring a new major skill or power for plotty reasons, but that might not necessarily be valid in your canon (for example, the recent plot of Cally temporarily picking up witchy powers), e-mail the admins with your plot idea, and we'll see if it works.

And with that segue in place, I'd also like to put out ( a reminder/official notice about how plots should be run past us )

Due to a lack of signups, I'm postponing the Trading Spaces plot that was supposed to happen this weekend.

I believe that it might be bad timing for a lot of people, so I'm going to work with the admins to find a weekend next semester that might be better so more people can play since this is the kind of plot that works best with a lot of participation.

I'm sorry for the late notice, but the last few days have been kind of insane.

Posts for the first day of the Prophecy-Humor Vegas Trip will be going up shortly. A scene for the students to gather at the causeway and meet the buses will be posted in

dr_jwilsonmd, and anyone who wants to see them off can do so there. That will be the only scene available for radio broadcast, alas, as distance will make things difficult on the squirrels. Unless one stows away. (Which...we're not averse to, actually...)

There will also be a Linkdrop/Housekeeping post going up in

a_phale for the entire weekend, so anyone who would like to follow along with the ~~insanity~~ adventure can keep an eye on that post for links.

And honest...they will actually be doing prophecy and humor related activities. We swear. ;)

Hi everyone!

Tonight at 8:00-ish Fandom Time, the climax of the Sixth Floor plot will be happening. If you are on the roof or on the Fifth Floor at this time, you will feel a slight unusual rumbling. The effects will be mild shaking of objects. If you are empathic/telepathic and are in the dorms, you may pick up on a sharp, inexplicable feeling. Feel free to investigate in the stairway leading up to the roof in once our intrepid adventurers have pinged in there.

Just a heads up that on Thursday the second floor of the dorm will have an air conditioning "malfunction" causing the floor to be uncombfortably warm during the day.

Why? Well I have my reasons. *looks shifty*

By the evening the air conditioning will be fixed and the climate will be back to normal.

Hey guys, due to wireless crashing and me as well, this resolution is In-Game delayed, but assume all your powers disappear by the end of second period, beginningish of the third. They might fade away slowly, but by noon, they're all gone. Your call on how close to noon.

And a HUGE round of applause to Logan, for spreading the silliness far and wide and kicking this all off, Bridge for being our Investigatory Person who found the evidence, and to all of you who had so very much fun with this. You guys are *so* cool.

There's now an official OOC plotting community for all Fandom High players. It's called

fhplotterywheel. Feel free to go on over and request membership and we'll add you as soon as we can. The user info page details what kind of stuff the community should be used for. In general, it's to save people putting up filters and all that. Feel free to have fun with it. Our hopes are that it will encourage people to talk things out and get involved with each others' plots.

SO. You know how I made that comment about hooking up the NPC Bakery Clerk and the modded whore? Well, it's gonna happen. *facepalm*

And I am looking for people who want to be involved in little ways: students, teachers, townies, this is open to anyone. Jaye'll be in town a lot for this, visiting various businesses where she'll be running into the Bakery Clerk and the modded whore (I love saying that). If you want her to stop in there, comment and I'll find a way to get there. Also, if you reasonably have any fake animals in that business, whether it be on a calendar, someone's shirt, a CD, what have you, let me know what I can use. Pics are wonderful, but I can find my own if I have to.

And then other people start coming in. Jaye might get a message from someone telling her to trip someone in order to get the Bakery Clerk to come over and see if they're okay, or I might ask you to break something or be somewhere to help me out. Random stuff that will all tie together in the end. It'll probably be a one-scene deal for you guys, no biggie. Unfortunately I can't get specific with details until I know who all wants in and what I can do. Then everything can come together. It'll start this week, going for a week or two, depending on how many people want to be included and how many scenes I have to put together.

Since this takes some coordination on my part, I give you guys till the end of tomorrow to say you want in. Because of the way it has to be done I don't think I can just add people in after then, but that doesn't mean you can't witness Jaye going psycho. =)

Friday the phone system is going on the fritz. Voice mails will be dropped. Calls will be incomplete or without a signal.

Play of this is entirely voluntary, but please feel free to have calls go to the wrong people (gee Vala, didn't you mean to call Cam instead of that Harkness boy?), have words and phrases dropped from your conversations, or simply be unable to connect.

Thanks to Kiki's magic gone awry, there are hideous purple and green avocados popping up all over town. Kiki has realized that, believing the avocado situation to have been diffused, she brought some into the dorm and used them on John's MiniGolf course that evening, so the dorm is likely infected, as well. Anyone is free to find the horrific technicolor fruit about the town and school as you like. Kiki and Aziraphale are currently working on getting rid of them.

Wonka and Tonks have been a little careless and let some of the more... experimental batches of candy into the store. Which means that unexpected things ~~will~~ might happen if you buy any of the following:

SWEETS
Candy bells
Cinnamon cough drops
Gum drops
Wax lips
Christmas tree candy
Divinity candy
candycanes
Snowballs
Advent calendar (supposedly with chocolates)
Coal

People who can negate the effects: Tonks, Harry, Draco, Lily and possibly Kiki can negate them. And Aziraphale and Crowley.
(Tara and the Halliwell sisters could probably as well, but it would take them longer.)

NOTE:
People must buy the candy from Wonka's, not just say they have. The effects will kick in once you eat the candy. Contact me, Tonks or Monster on AIM to find out what happens.

Wow. We did not expect this plot to get so big and so tragic. (Dude, we made the Tick sad! *guilty look*) Which, in hindsight is a big "duh" moment, but that's hindsight, so there you go.

I know people are upset. Please, please don't get mad at the admins! It's not their concept; it's not their execution. Blame me, Marty, Angelus, Rory or Angela. We're the main plotters here. There are several other characters who were involved, but they joined in at our request and didn't have a say in the overall plot.

There are a couple of investigations happening IC. If you want your character to investigate, contact myself or Marty and we'll work you into the plot. Please be aware that the Dean has forbidden students and teachers from being involved, so there WILL be IC consequences for characters who get involved.

If your character wants to get involved, but the player doesn't - the Fandom Police Department is investigating the case, and (as far as the public knows) they are professional and competent. They'll handle it.

The killer will be dealt before December 1st. (The timeline is unfortunately restricted by player availability.)

EDITED: As per several conversations with Paige-mun, the following plan is being offered:
Someone will need to arrange to get Paige to either Phale's shop or the Park. They'll also need to arrange to try and keep her from running off until Phale has time to get a hold of her. Then...a little chaos and maybe much angst.

So -- please let me know who's in (I already know Lily Evans will be involved). Also, can we do set an RL time on Saturday or Sunday to do this (obviously to be approved by Paige-mun.)
