OOC info on what's going down tonight.
Ok. Because I seriously dislike OOC hate mail, I'm posting the info on the nastiness Duce is upto in game, with all appropriate links.
Duce has IC reason for currently lacking respect for/disliking Paige. I explained this to Paige's player this morning. Link.
Paige went to Logan's party, and had a hook-up with Jonathan Crane, in a bedroom described as having a door that doesn't lock. NSFW Link. Paige got a picture with a digital camera, and got away with it.
That night, it was posted on the Radio that Faith had gotten pics. Link.
I pinged an admin and asked - if Duce got the pictures, could she use them in game? I was told the pictures were in-play. Meaning if Duce could ICLY get them, she could ICLY use them.
The next afternoon, Duce heard the broadcast and called Faith to confirm the existence of these pictures and to ask for copies. Faith agreed to email them to her. Link.
That evening, Faith emailed them to Duce. Link. Faith and I had assumed that from the telephone conversation, it was to be assumed the email had gone out - however, due to what happened in the OOC realm, Faith posted this as a CYA/clarification post so everyone was on the same page as to what Faith's actions were.
We've been running this very slowly deliberately. Paige's player is in the UK, and wasn't on when the convo between Faith/Duce happened. I knew she wouldn't be on until sometime today, and wanted to give her time to see the post, and take whatever in game measures she thought might help.
Paige and Jonathan both contacted Faith about the pictures. Faith told them she'd deleted it and no longer had a copy. This is why Faith posted the clarification post, because I immediately pinged her and we realized there might be some confusion as to what happened.
The picture is currently sitting in Duce's gmail because I put this on pause long enough to make sure everyone knew what was going on before the shit hit the proverbial fan. Later tonight, I will post Duce uploading them to a bunch of third-world amature porn sites. Duce will also be sending a link to The Tentacle anonymously for publication. This whole thing is why The Tentacle is late being published. Because I was not going to drop that link until I was sure the people it affected had a chance to see it coming.
This is going to cause embarassment for Paige. It may cause issues between Sawyer and Crane. Faith's going to catch hell for this, and if Duce ever gets caught - and dude, it would not be unheard of for Faith to go "I gave the picture to Duce, can-you-hear-the-water-runnin'?" - Duce will catch hell too. Logan may or may not get his neck breathed on, depending on how much notice school officials take.
For those who are oocly upset/offended: The Tentacle will not be reproducing the picture. At all. Period. Because in the US, posting naked pictures of teenagers will get your ass hunted down and thrown in jail. It will be mentioning Paige's name, the situation, that there is a picture, and broad hints where copies of the picture can be found. So.. even if you read The Tentacle, you aren't going to be subjected to nekkid Paige/Jonathan smut against your will. If you actually hunt the links, that's your problem, not mine. Also? The Tentacle is Not Nice. Duce is Not Nice. Expect smear and prepare yourself accordingly. If this is likely to kill your jolly when it hits your friendslist, I strongly suggest you either don't click The Tentacle's LJ-cuts, or you unfriend it before 5:30CST.
So.. that is what's going down. There's the documentation trail for it. You can have your characters react however they'd like. Please keep in mind: At this point in time, the only characters who know Duce has a copy of the picture, are Faith and Duce, and unless one of them tells you before this hits press, chances are good your character will find out about it either via The Tentacle or rumour later.
If I have somehow left out any characters who will be in the direct line of fallout from this, you have two hours to let me know so I can work with it.
