Hey guys!

We're having some issues with the fandomhigh.net domain being down at the moment. We're aware of the problem, and we ask that for the moment you direct all E-mails to fh.applications@gmail.com and we'll reply as quickly as possible. This also means that the application form isn't currently available. Please hold off on sending any in until we give the heads up that everything's back up, just to make sure that your app isn't lost. Please also pass on the message to any friends who may be preparing an application.

Thanks!

Hey folks,

We're having some problems with the fandomhigh.net domain at the moment. Please direct all emails for the admin team to fh.applications@gmail.com and we'll respond as promptly as possible. Due to the technical difficulties, the application form is not currently available. Please hold off on sending in any applications until we give the heads up that the site is back up and running as your application may be lost along the way. Please also pass the message on to any friends you have who might be preparing an application.

More news as we have it.

Hello!

We've recently received some questions regarding class ranks and their progression from Summer to Fall semester. If your student was a junior during the Summer they will remain a junior during the Fall. This applies to all class ranks.

We understand that this might not have been clear and people might have been expecting to go up a class rank (Freshmen to Sophomore, Sophomore to Junior, Junior to Senior). If you're in this situation, please let us know immediately so we can make the appropriate changes and you don't end up playing your character in the wrong year with the wrong age.

Questions? Comments? Pie?

Hi everyone,

OOC Politeness
Playing in such a fast-paced game often leads to unexpected things coming up and wanting to get something done quickly before time passes you by. Please remember to be considerate of the people you are playing with. It's only polite to check in with another player if you're going to do something that's going to strongly affect their character. If you have to wait for that, then wait. Also keep in mind that your character's IC behavior should not be used as an excuse for OOC rudeness.

Be polite and courteous to your fellow players. It's easy to get carried away, but a short email or a ping on IM can do wonders for keeping the communication lines open and dissolve tensions that might arise.

Attendance
Also, please remember that we do have minimum requirements that you have to adhere to in order to remain in the game. Teachers must post their workshops by the 12pm PST deadline, students must at least sign into all of their workshops every week and townies must be active in their job/business once a week. We have been lenient in the past, but won't be any longer and really, if you can't meet the bare minimum, then you don't have time for Fandom High.

Teachers, please let us know via email if someone is missing workshops. Players in general, if you're going to be unable to meet the bare minimum requirements, it is your responsibility to let us know that via email.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled mayhem.

Sexing in the Cabins

As an FYI, there are no doors on the alcoves to the cabins, and the walls do not go all the way up to the ceiling. Therefore, unless you can create a magical sound barrier, everyone in your cabin can hear you if you're getting your groove thing on. If you do not want to deal with yelling, flying buckets of cold water, or other retaliatory measures, there are a number of places you can go to do your thing in private (provided someone hasn't already claimed the space at that time):

- The dorms
- The preserve (if you don't mind teal deer watching)
- The woods (if you don't mind bugs watching)
- The abandoned shack (created specifically for things that require privacy)
- Selkie Cove and the beach (mmm, sand in uncomfortable places)

Of course, you don't have to go outside your cabin, but again, you might be facing the wrath of your cabinmates if you don't. A little OOC communication about bedtime activities goes a long way. *g*

Big Damn Post

Hello!

This post is a big OOC infodump post that's relevant to every player in the Fandom High game, so give it a read as soon you get the chance please.

Cut for length )

There are a few more information posts relating to specific subjects coming in the next week or so. Keep an eye out for them. They'll be on this community ([livejournal.com profile] fandomhigh_ooc). As always, feel free to contact us at administration@fandomhigh.net with any questions or comments.

We discovered last night that apparently the service (BraveNet) we use for the application forms might have failed us as we know for sure that at least one application never made it to our inbox. I am really keeping my fingers crossed and hoping this only happened once.

Still, if you applied and never received an answer from us that is probably what happened. We would like to apologise profusedly for this and we will try to come up with a solution to prevent it from ever happening again.

Feel free to hit me up on AIM or email if you have any concerns. I apologise for any inconvenience this might have caused.
[identity profile] notthetindog.livejournal.com
*sigh* Sorry. Standard. Website. E-mail. Down.

Stupid router.
[identity profile] notthetindog.livejournal.com
The site's back up. E-mail's back up. I'm working on a devious plan to make sure we never have this amount of downtime again.
[identity profile] notthetindog.livejournal.com
Profusely sorry about this. The server itself is actually fine. The problem is that there's a router that's blocking everyone from getting to it except downtown Los Angeles -- which is fairly useless to me. The sysadmins at work having been trying to fix the issue for a day now, but they are in downtown LA and they can see the thing just fine. Makes things difficult.

Until further notice, please do not use your fandomhigh.net forwarding addresses.

And believe me, when I get back to work on Sunday, I'm gonna have some words with some folks.

ETA: And we're back. Oh sweet relief!
[identity profile] bruiser-in-pink.livejournal.com
There is currently an issue with some thingy that makes the server work (Look at my tech speak!) or connect or something. So, none of the fandomhigh.net email addresses are working right now. Including the admin address. There is nothing that we can do about it at this time.

If you need to contact the admins, please email one of us individually and we will pass it along. Also, it has apparently been down for a few hours. If you sent anything to the admin email address this afternoon, you might want to take a chance and resend it to one of us.

Cabins + Campfires (including the main campfire) + Dining Hall + Gym + Anything else social (ie: non-workshoppy) in the camp area = [livejournal.com profile] fandomhighdorms (or your personal journal if you're doing an alcove post. Cabins can also go into personal journals if you'd like. It's up to you.)

Workshops = [livejournal.com profile] fandomhigh. Teachers will get access today.
[identity profile] drywitmartini.livejournal.com
There was a kerfuffle with the tags for the [livejournal.com profile] fandomhigh comm. That was my bad. I was tinkering with the comm and forgot to fix it up. Sorry for the confusion. They should work now.

If any teachers still can't get tags to work, it may just be a quirk, so just drop me a line to let me know. I don't mind going through and adding tags for you if you have a problem. LJ's just a pain in the backside sometimes. If you *can* use tags for your [livejournal.com profile] fandomhigh posts, then please do! (Class names or departments for classes, club names for clubs, 'office hours' for office hours, etc) You can see a list of current [livejournal.com profile] fandomhigh tags here:

http://www.livejournal.com/community/fandomhigh/tag/

This is for teachers and club organizers only. If you are a student, please *do not* alter any tags. Please. If you see a tagless post or one with the wrong tag, email me at principalofvices@gmail.com and I'll sort it out. If everyone gets involved, it's gonna get messy and dude, I am so not good with a mop and bucket.

Thanks for your attention. Have a safe and caffeinated evening! Mmm. Caffeine.

Edit: There's been some confusion. If you are a student authorized to make a post in [livejournal.com profile] fandomhigh such as a club organizer or a library wench, you can tag your posts no problem. The 'no students touching tags' is an after-the-fact thing. If it's not your post, don't touch the tags. Thanks.
[identity profile] game-of-you.livejournal.com
For some reason, LJ won't let me set tags on entries in Fandomhigh. It sends up an error message when I do, and any tags I put in do not show.

I use tags to keep track of Dream's classes, so I really need to be able to do this. Does anyone have an idea what's up? Thanks.

Quick Question

[identity profile] lovechildblair.livejournal.com
Is someone here [livejournal.com profile] wholesomedick??

They keep posting on Blair's most recent post and I deleted the comments once I checked the userinfo and realized they weren't a member...but I just wanted to check and make sure it wasn't someone just forgetting to login or something.

OOC: Math classes

[identity profile] charlieeppes.livejournal.com
The Math classes take place during first period of Wednesday and Friday. I know it says 5th of the sign up sheet, but that's wrong. If this causes scheduling conflics for you, you can talk to Charlie today, if you want. :)

In another admin note....

PLEASE DO NOT BRING A MAJOR PROBLEM TO AN ADMIN IN CHAT FOR IMMEDIATE RESOLUTION

Let us pause to admire my 'All Caps of Attention-Getting (TM)'. They are there mainly to catch the eye of people scrolling through the forum, not any indication of mood.

Feel free to bring up issues when talking to any admin, but please follow it up with an e-mail to the administration in general - if only to report that you did talk to someone so you don't end up with a second admin breathing down your neck and demanding clarification. Questions, comments and clarifications are all still welcome in chat, but anything major really, really needs to go past more than just one of us. We have a total of four admins (three at the moment till Servo gets settled in). We are supposed to work as a group despite our divided responsibilities. No one admin is expected to or supposed to make a major policy decision on the spur of the moment and nor is it fair to expect one to do so that may later have to be revoked because of lack of consultation.

That way leads to confusion for all involved.

Things that happen in chat can get lost or mis-remembered, particularly if there is a mob of people talking to a single admin. The more people who know what's going on from our end, the more smoothly things should go for you.

We have a main e-mail now which will forward to all four admins. It is administration @ fandomhigh.com . If you have a plot point, major issue, or something which needs resolution PLEASE use that e-mail. There are too many things going on where someone is approaching an admin in chat and pressing for an instant answer. Depending on what else is going on, the answer they get may be incorrect, inappropriate, or revoked after consultation. There is also the issue of a concern getting lost in the shuffle, people forgetting to mention permissions granted, things getting misplaced amid lj notifications and other mail... This account will help to insure that this no longer happens.

Please talk to us in chat, tell us what's going on, ask for answers... but if you have a plot point or major problem, please, please, please follow it up with an e-mail so that things will no longer be misinterpreted, subject to unforseen changes by other admin or lost in the shuffle.

That's administration @ fandomhigh.com

Thank you.

Edit: For clarification purposes:

For [livejournal.com profile] fandomhigh issues, your administrators are [livejournal.com profile] dean_bristow, [livejournal.com profile] jerusalem_s and (to be fully invested in the near future) [livejournal.com profile] t_servo.

For [livejournal.com profile] fandomtownie issues, your administrator is [livejournal.com profile] _red_xiii_.

These four people keep tabs on each other, on current issues and also on on-going plots. Things that happen at the town can affect people at the school and vice-versa so despite our diversity we like to let all four admin know what's going on as a simple courtesy (and to avoid confusion). Thank you again for your patience.

Hacked????

Is anyone else finding that when they try to upload a new icon this morning, that they get anything BUT what they were supposed to get? I keep trying to upload my Faire icon and I keep getting someone's random icon that I've never seen before that sure as hell didn't come off of *my* desktop.

Okay, the icon is really, REALLY bad, but I spent a good chunk of time on it and I want to use it. Has my account been hacked or is this systemic? If it matters, I have a free account.

ETA: I just saw one of CJ's posts that has one of the 'bogus' icons I got when I was trying to upload. So I guess it's systemic. Anyone know who we bitch to?

Argh.

*Sips Sea breeze*

Word on the street is that some of you crazy kids won't come down and visit Lorne at his new nightclub because of his aura reading ability. What's that all about?

Just consider Lorne to be your neighborhood bartender and he's not going to spill anything unless you absolutely request that it be done so.

In other words I won't tell anybody anything unless you tell me so IC, OOC or OOG.

So that's how it's all done kids. Come on by and sing for me Baby!

Love ya! Mwah!
