During the Open Forum, it was suggested that we make some way to consolidate the tutorials that people have posted (for making preplay tables, or using Firefox addons, etc.) into one easy-to-search area.

So, we have a del.icio.us account now, under the name fandomhigh. As you can see, it's currently woefully empty, which is where you guys come in. If you've written a tutorial, either in the OOC community, or in your own game journal, and you want it to be linked in the del.icio.us account, leave a comment in the first OCD thread below. If you have any suggestions for other game posts that you think should be listed, leave a comment in the second OCD thread, with the link if you can find it. And finally, if there's something you'd love to see a tutorial for (using LJ Login? using other helpful add-ons? tips for linkdropping?) but there hasn't been one yet, leave a comment in the third OCD thread, where people can volunteer to write it if they want to.

There will be a link to the del.icio.us account in the [livejournal.com profile] fandomhigh_ooc profile shortly, so people can find it again later.

Hey, everyone. One of the things that came out of our most recent Open Forum was a request for some new places in town--primarily, a skate park and Chamber of Commerce, at least to start.

However, we are considering a more extensive expansion and development of beautiful downtown Fandom and are looking for suggestions of things that you would like to see--locations, stores, restaurants, activities, whatever.

So, comment below, and we'll see what we can do!

Here are the workshop rosters for Term 2 of Summer Semester.

The following people have missed out on a workshop:
Chris Halliwell (Accelerated Scouting)
Lana Lang (Creatures of Nature) - nevermind!
Carmela Rodriguez (Creatures of Nature)
Liz Sherman (Creatures of Nature)
Lucas Wolenczak (Creatures of Nature)
Qui-Gon Jinn (How to Deal With the Opposite Sex)
Eve Levine (How to Deal With the Opposite Sex)
Charlie McGee (How to Deal With the Opposite Sex)

Everyone bar Chris has at least 2 workshops remaining, so Chris please pick a replacement from a workshop that is still open. Everyone else above is welcome to choose a replacement workshop if they'd like but don't have to as they already meet the bare minimum required. Just reply in the comments here with your choice if you decide to grab another one.

Some workshops are now closed to further enrolment. They're labelled as such.

Teachers, if someone's added to your workshop roster after this, I'll drop you a line about it.

Cut for leeeeeength )

If there's something wrong, please comment here and we'll sort it out.

Hi again!

Last call for workshop proposals for Term 2. They need to be in by tonight (Monday evening US time). Any teachers or townies who want in for term 2, send in a proposal by tonight.

Teachers who don't run a class will need a job in town or to go off-island for the rest of the semester.

Thanks!
[identity profile] ismyhairout.livejournal.com
Hey guys,

Don't forget that workshop proposals for Term 2 need to be in by this Monday. Out of the current teaching crop, still waiting to hear back from Ares, Aly, Abby, Deadpool and Yondaime. If you're going away for the second term or you're getting a job in town, please let us know ASAP.

You can find the proposal details here.

Thanks!

Does your character have medical training? Do they have magical healing abilities? Then the clinic needs you!

We currently have three shifts open: Monday evening, Wednesday evening, Friday evening. Sunday evening will possibly open up at the end of the summer. We can do rearranging of the shifts as well if a different time would be better for you.

If you think your character would be interested in taking a shift or two or three, drop me a line at doctor.c.troy (at) gmail (dot) com or leave Christian a voice mail. You (the character) do need to have some medical/magical training, enough to handle random cases of cuts and bruises and sprained ankles that come in. Student aides would be expected to page one of the actual doctors (Christian, Doogie, Wilson) if something serious came in (which we have advance notice on, so we'll make sure someone is available).

Or, you know, you can app a new townie doctor character. :)

Reminder

If you are a student or teacher going away or returning for Term 2, please let us know immediately! We can't accommodate you if we don't know whether you're going to be around or not.

Workshops Needed!

Want to teach a workshop next term? This is open to teachers, townies and this year's graduates.

What's Needed:

* The ability to come up with 7 workshops (one per week) that give the students something to do
* The ability to post the workshop by 12pm PST the day it's scheduled (you can post the night before)
* The ability to interact with your students (SP is fine for this, you don't need to be around all the time)

Think you can handle that? Give it a try! Summer is the only time that townies and graduates can teach and it's only half a semester's worth of classes.

Teachers who do not wish to teach but want to stay in Fandom must have a job in town or start a community club that they run once a week.

Graduates who do not wish to teach but want to stay in Fandom must have a TAship (arranged yourself) or work on the school construction effort.

It's your responsibility to make sure that your character is doing something that they are supposed to be doing.

Everyone who wishes to teach a workshop for Term 2 should comment here with the following details filled out.

Character Name:
Workshop Name:
Workshop Synopsis:
(a description including any ideas you have for individual classes so far)
Please list your top two preferred days: (Monday to Friday. You'll need to post your workshop by 12pm PST on this day. You can post the night before if that works better for you.)
Anything else we need to know?

It's totally okay to repeat a workshop from the first term. If you want to teach, but need some help brainstorming what you'd teach, feel free to contact any of the admins or mods and we're happy to help.

Deadline for submissions is Monday, June 25.

Comments are screened!

Hey all!

We're getting on to the end of the first summer session and we'll need to know soon if you are planning on sending your character away for the second session. If you have not done so already, please email us at administration [at] fandomhigh [dot] net.

Also, if you plan on dropping a character at the end of summer, you can let us know anytime between now and the beginning of fall term. The sooner the better though.

Thanks!

Townie forms

Hey all, I'm going to go a bit OCD on you all right now. I'm still missing townie forms for the following people:

getupanddoit
spacepiratevala
splendid_aggie
exwatcher

My apologies if you have already sent in a form and I simply didn't receive it. Sometimes emails get lost when the redirect is working funny. Just send them directly to woodface @ gmail . com by next weekend and all should be well.

Thank you!

Directory forms

[identity profile] light-a-spark.livejournal.com
It's that time again where I start bugging people.

Could townies and teachers please make sure to submit a directory form and email it to usurpertex [@] fandomhigh [.] net? Old townies and teachers, feel free to submit any changes to your forms either by emailing me or submitting the information at the next town hall post (that's what they're there for).

New players wondering what town is all about can check out the ultimate townie guide. If there are teachers still looking for somewhere to live, please check out the personal ads where anyone can post if they're looking for a housemate or a new employee for their business.

And of course, Townie applications remain open. We're still looking for someone to take over the hotel or Turtle & Canary. If any townies are interested in helping to host the Sunday brunches, please contact me as well.

And because I'm not in the mood for pie, I will just say that FMA is a cruel, cruel series and I love it like... fries. Yes. Fries. There.

Hello!
This post is largely for the current alumni and senior class and is a refresher and update for the guidelines regarding alumni characters in the Fandom High game.

Alumni characters are those who have been played out through to their graduation from Fandom High. As a result of this dedication, they are allowed to continue to participate in the game beyond their years at Fandom High.

Cut for length again, but please read! )

Important stuff we need from players of senior characters )
[identity profile] bruiser-in-pink.livejournal.com
If you have not done so already, please let us know who your TA(s) will be by commenting here, emailing us (administration[at]fandomhigh[dot]net) or pinging me on AIM: FandomMonster. They don't have to be selected IG yet, we just need to know who you are planning on so that we can get the numbers right for the classes.

Thank you!
[identity profile] bugofjustice.livejournal.com
Just as a reminder, tomorrow, Friday, June 30th will be the last day to get your workshop forms in. Even if you are planning on teaching the same workshop you did in Session 1, we still need a form for it. Please remember, all graduated seniors who are staying this summer are expected to teach a workshop.

New teacher applications are also due tomorrow. Workshop forms can be submitted as part of the teacher app.

Thank you.

Greetings!

We're now looking for volunteers (teachers, townies and alumni only) to lead workshops for the second summer session.

Please fill out the form below with your workshop details and email it to administration@fandomhigh.net. This applies for new workshop leaders, current workshop leaders with new workshop ideas and current workshop leaders who want to repeat their Session 1 workshop. So basically, everyone who wants to run a workshop has to fill out the form below.

Workshop Name: (can be simple or witty)
Brief Summary: (a soundbite to catch the attention of potential students)
Detailed Explanation of what you plan to do for 7-8 weeks: (a brief run down of how you're going to run the class so we know you've got it covered)
Maximum Number of Students: (if you want to limit how many students there'll be in your workshop, please state so here)

Please note that we reserve the right to turn down any workshop. We probably won't, but the disclaimer is there to cover our backsides :)

Also, please try to offer a workshop that will be of some interest to the students so you can increase your chances of getting a substantial class size. If you want to brainstorm some ideas, feel free to contact any of the admins or mods to chat about your options.

The deadline for this is Friday, June 30.

Thank you and hope to hear from you soon! Remember - email your form to administration@fandomhigh.net!

We've gotten the Student and Faculty directory in pretty good order now. It even has a shiny new Table of Contents.

However! We are still missing forms for several students. This makes the directory unshiny. The following students should fill out a form as soon as possible:

Xander Bly
Max Guevera
Ainsley Hayes
James (Pokemon)
Shiro

Please respond with your form as a comment to that entry. All comments are screened.

It is also recommended that everyone else review their own entry (if they haven't already done so) to be sure that it is accurate or to see if it needs to be updated.

Thank you!

Hey, all, so I've been bribed into making an icon.

Blame Janet. And Marty.

But, see, I'm looking for images now, so's I can make it right quick when I get home from rehearsal. . . .

And I'm not finding what I really want.

so, I challenge you, the good folks of Fandom, to find them for me while I go be a stage monkey manager. What I'm looking for is this:

Muppet Lobsters. Come on, the Swedish chef faced off against them at least once, and there was an episode of The Jim Henson Hour where they were space aliens. . . . I swear I'm not making that up.

Moreen the Mink. She showed up on The Muppet Family Christmas.

It's a big ole internet out there, I know these images are somewhere, but Google image search is not PWNING today. Help a gal out?

*gives smile of innocense and light*

*and also, a lobster noise.*

ETA Yay, people with images. Icon making is post-poned until I have the energy to work my mouse with anything approaching skill. (you people are lucky I can type, right now. srsly.)
