Homecoming Weekend is almost upon us, from November 1st through 3rd! This year's theme is "Comfy-Cozy" and the island is going to help! Starting on Friday, moddable comfort items will sprout up around the island - pillow forts galore, soothing music in shops, and closets filled with more knitwear than usual. The cozy items will be staying through the end of Tuesday, because Fandom is just like that sometimes, so strange, so odd.

Ahem. Anyway, onto dates!

Friday will be the Fall Carnival!
Saturday will be the Homecoming Dance!
Sunday will be Homecoming Brunch!

Everyone is welcome back for the fun and cozy merriment and mental distraction from the world. If that sort of thing is needed, who knows?

If you'd like to be part of the carnival, leave a comment below!

If there are multiple people who want the same suite, the almighty RNG will decide. I recommend that if you pick a specialty suite, you list two or three back-up options in case the RNG does not rule in your favor (believe me, it's happened before). Hello! It's time to mash two great tastes that taste great together: Weetiny Weekend and Homecoming! So that means it's time to go hunting for stock photos of small children, pics of your PB as a child actor, or screencaps from a flashback episode because students, teachers, townies and poor, innocent alumni back for a reunion dance are all about to become small! You all know these by now, but let's run you through the Rules of Weetiny anyway:

- Students, teachers, alumni and townies alike will wake up on Saturday as pint-sized versions (ages 4-10, or the species equivalent) of themselves.
- Participation is completely optional.
- If you choose to participate, your character needs to wake up as a kid on Saturday morning and stay that way the whole weekend until waking up back to normal on Tuesday morning.
- The kids won't be scared to wake up in Fandom, due to the wackiness. It's more like they've always been here.
- Clothing will be shrunk down as well, and all the weapons will turn into toys so no one can hurt themselves accidentally.

"How will this mesh with Homecoming, though?" you ask. You are very wise! The Homecoming Dance will take place like a normal dance, where everyone is their normal ages, on Friday, November 11th. On Saturday, everyone who chooses to will wake up tiny. The Homecoming Carnival will become weetinified (complete with a ball pit: the alumni get five extra minutes in it!), the brunch will be weetinified, and then everyone...will still be small for Monday morning classes.

Because more chaos=more fun!

Everyone wakes up like normal on Tuesday and pretends none of this ever happened.

Hello folks! Next weekend (October 29th-31st) is Homecoming, and since it's also Halloween weekend, things are going to get a little spoOoOoOoky!

The theme of the dance is "Monster Mash Mask Bash": it's a costume ball, but very specifically you're invited to attend as the fancy formal-dress masquerade version of your favorite monster, whether generic (vampire), historical (Countess Bathory) or meta-fictional (everyone's favorite lesbian vampire seductress, Lacrimal Rent-a-Sink).

Now for the fun part: anyone, costume-wearing or not, who eats any of the candy being handwavily handed out at the community center will physically turn into a monster of their player's choice. The character doesn't necessarily turn into their costume, and they don't forget who they are or get overwhelmed by bloodlust or the need to haunt the cemetery. They just bodily transform into whatever would first come to mind when they think of a monster. You could end up with a werewolf dressed as Cinderella, or a tentacle-beast in jeans and a t-shirt! The transformations will last until midnight on Sunday, because that's how Halloween logic works.

Like previous Homecoming weekends, the carnival will be Friday, the dance will be Saturday, and we'll all get to have a likely very weird brunch on Sunday. Below are the signups for the carnival (alumni are allowed to sign up!), and a spot to ask questions about spooky monster stuff.

Hi folks! Since the circus this summer left folks a bit... wary of carnivals, your fabulous Student Council has decided that Homecoming should involve a fall festival instead! There will be pumpkin picking, a petting zoo, a concert with Fandom's very own zombie band (we apologize in advance), along with the usual kissing booths, pie throwing, and dunk tanks. The festival will end with a parade through town where students and alumni will be throwing glitter at anyone unfortunate enough to be around when they pass by (because these glitter reserves are not going to diminish themselves).

As usual, the festival will be Friday, the dance will be Saturday, and there will be a brunch on Sunday. If you would like to volunteer to get kissed, pied, or dunked, please leave a comment below in the appropriate thread by Thursday night!

Hey folks! We interrupt your safari for a whole bunch of announcements all rolled into one tasty post.

First! This Saturday, October 13th, will be the next Open Forum. As usual, a friends-locked post will go up in this community in the morning (Eastern time) and will be open to all current players who want to make suggestions and raise issues they think should be discussed by the player base. The open forums are a place for people to bounce ideas around and get some discussion going. All we ask is that you be polite and considerate to each other. After that we'll round up all the issues that have been raised and get to work addressing them!

Second! Next weekend, October 19th-21st, is Fandom High's annual Homecoming weekend. This year, the dance will be posted on Friday, the carnival will be posted on Saturday, and there will be a brunch on Sunday as usual. But the carnival is going to be a little different this year, because next Saturday and Sunday is also going to be Weetiny Weekend! (That could make waking up next to your Homecoming date a little more interesting...) We still need volunteers for the carnival booths, but the booths will be a little different than expected come Saturday morning:

- Kissing booths will be hugging booths! Let's hope no one contracts cooties!
- Dunking booths will involve kiddie pools and optional swimmies.
- Pie throwing booths will... remain unchanged because really, it's messy enough for little kids to begin with.

If you would like to be in one of the booths at the carnival, weetiny or not, sign up in the appropriate OCD below! There's also a spot for aaaaany questions about any of the above.

Hi hi!

This year the Homecoming Carnival will be taking place next Friday! (That’s the 22nd, if you prefer numbers like I do.)This means that we totally need volunteers for dun dun dun the kissing booths, dunk tanks, and pie tossing!

As per previous years, the pie tossing and dunk tanks are open to teachers, students and townies. The kissing booths, though, are for students only.

If you’re new and want to see how things go, or old and just like to reread how things went in previous years (like me, shush), you can find them under this tag.

Otherwise, please to be signing up in the appropriate spot below! Or be asking questions! Or something!

Lords, ladies, and esteemed personages of alternate or non-existent gender, we present for your enjoyment a cavalcade of upcoming Fandom Events, for all of your planning, plotting, and picture-procuring needs:

October 17th and 18th (Sun/Mon): Genderswap Day Days. That's right, your poor unsuspecting characters will, should you so choose, awaken on Sunday as a member of the opposite gender. (If your character doesn't have a gender, or has more than one, you get to pick one.) If they know Fandom history, they'll be expecting their sudden new equipment to wear off when they go to sleep on Sunday night. Surprise! Not so much.

October 22nd/23rd/24th (Fri/Sat/Sun): Homecoming Weekend. (More specific information on the scheduling of activities will show up closer to the date.)

November 5th (Fri): Once More With Fandom. In which (should you so choose) your characters will be uncontrollably bursting into song and revealing their innermost feelings. Or their love of cheese.

November 13th (Sat): Open Forum. For your OOC gameplay discussion needs.

Questions, comments, cheese?

If you'd like to look through previous carnivals to see how these things tend to go, you can find them all under this tag. Otherwise, sign up in the appropriate spot below!

In order to let people start planning ahead, we wanted to announce the schedule for Homecoming Weekend. As has been suggested by many of you, we've split up the dance and the carnival. The dance will be set for Friday night, the carnival will be set during the day on Saturday, and there will be a final brunch for everyone on Sunday. Hopefully, this will spread things out enough for everyone to ping into everything they want!

Any questions, etc?

So, onward, sign up and have fun!

In order to let people start planning ahead, we want to announce that Homecoming Weekend will be October 5-7, and Parents' Weekend will be October 19-21.

Also there will be an island-wide plot running November 12-16.

More information and details will be made available as the dates approach.

Thank you all for playing along with the Pleasantville event. Fandom has returned to "normal" and the third floor common room has a replacement television and remote while the other one is demystified.

Alumni, please enjoy your day of technicolor in Fandom.

Howdy, people! We have a Homecoming update for you.

The Homecoming dance will take place on Friday, October 6, as previously stated. Alumni will be able to visit from that morning through the evening of Sunday, October 8. They won't be allowed to stay in the dorms, so please be sure to make arrangements somewhere in town.

The Student Council will be organizing the dance and there's been talk of a carnival as well, just like last year. ICly, they'll be able to come up with any theme they want and plan towards that. What they won't know ICly is that we have a bit of crack set up that will make the IC ideas moot.

Early in the morning on October 6, Fandom will be made to represent Pleasantville. Everything will turn black & white, all clothes will turn into 1950's era stuff, NPCs will be extra cheerful, the dance will suit the setting, and everyone will think this to be completely normal. All characters will still act, speak, and think as they normally would with the exception of thinking the environment and clothes are normal.

This is an island-wide event and will magically affect your character as soon as they cross the Causeway (although everything will look normal from the mainland). You're free to get as into it as you want, creating B&W icons, Photoshopping 50's garb onto your icons, etc, or ignore all of that and just go with your normal icons while remembering the status quo for the weekend.

Things will go back to normal early Sunday morning, so the alumni will have one relatively sane day on the island.

This is a fairly low-impact event, but one that should add a nice atmosphere to Homecoming weekend.

Thank you for your time, and here's looking towards a fun Homecoming.

Fandom High's Homecoming Dance will take place on October 6. Alumni will be invited back for the weekend to catch up with all of the people they left in May. Or August. Obviously, some people will have more catching up to do than others. Visiting alumni will have to make rooming arrangements in town, of course, because they're filthy adults who have no business corrupting the poor, innocent souls in the dorms. I seem to be silly this morning. Apologies.

And just giving an early head's up, we do have an event planned for Homecoming (not an invasion, which could be a GREAT theme for the dance), but we need to flesh out the idea a bit more before we announce it. It should be fun, and if it's not, I ask that you lie to me and tell me that it was the best thing ever. But not in those words because I'll recognize that term and I'll know you're lying.

It's Saturday morning. You're lucky I'm not announcing this in the form of a limerick.

ETA: Oh, and the note in the office post means that the students are handwavily aware of Homecoming now. Alumni can handwave similar knowledge.
