Hello folks! Next weekend (October 29th-31st) is Homecoming, and since it's also Halloween weekend, things are going to get a little spoOoOoOoky!

The theme of the dance is "Monster Mash Mask Bash": it's a costume ball, but very specifically you're invited to attend as the fancy formal-dress masquerade version of your favorite monster, whether generic (vampire), historical (Countess Bathory) or meta-fictional (everyone's favorite lesbian vampire seductress, Lacrimal Rent-a-Sink).

Now for the fun part: anyone, costume-wearing or not, who eats any of the candy being handwavily handed out at the community center will physically turn into a monster of their player's choice. The character doesn't necessarily turn into their costume, and they don't forget who they are or get overwhelmed by bloodlust or the need to haunt the cemetery. They just bodily transform into whatever would first come to mind when they think of a monster. You could end up with a werewolf dressed as Cinderella, or a tentacle-beast in jeans and a t-shirt! The transformations will last until midnight on Sunday, because that's how Halloween logic works.

Like previous Homecoming weekends, the carnival will be Friday, the dance will be Saturday, and we'll all get to have a likely very weird brunch on Sunday. Below are the signups for the carnival (alumni are allowed to sign up!), and a spot to ask questions about spooky monster stuff.

We're bringing back the good ol' trick or treat through town and get innapropriate goodies post tomorrow! Ask not where JGOB normally puts their day old bagels, be grateful that they are free, etc., etc.

There will be OCD for NPC businesses, but if you comment here, we will also put up a spot for your PC business/home!

There will also be a Halloween party at the Devil's Nest, where everyone is welcome!

Greetings, ghouls, goblins and gremlins! For Halloween this year, in addition to any scary shenanigans in development by student groups, Fandom Island is going to get in on the act itself. (Let's all curse thank [livejournal.com profile] glacial_witch for the suggestion!)

Holiday Grove has received a shipment of discount costumes and accessories, you see -- leftovers from a shop in a quiet little town in California that went out of business a few Halloweens ago. From sunset on Halloween night to sunrise on Monday morning, anyone wearing a costume (or even a part of a costume, like a sword or hat) handwavily or otherwise purchased at Holiday Grove will be transformed into whatever they're dressed up as. Powers, personality and all!

How much of their own personality a character retains is up to the player. If Anakin is dressed up as Tim Gunn, when sunset falls he'll look like Tim Gunn, he'll think that's who he is, and he really will be able to gently but firmly direct you away from imminent fashion disaster. While wearing the Iron Man suit. If Anakin is dressed as Random Dapper 1930's Gent, then he'll still look like Anakin, and his personality and background will be whatever he had in mind for the character, probably retaining a lot of his own. If he's dressed as a flesh-eating demon...you probably get where this is going!

Bonus answers to questions you didn't ask!  )

It's Halloween again and what better to celebrate that than candy. Lots and lots of candy. Of course, sometimes, there is candy that no one wants to eat. Candy that is left in the bottom of the bag until December in hopes it will be less disgusting.

Sometimes, candy just doesn't want to be ignored.

Tomorrow, there will be moddable oversized candies lurking about in the hopes they can trick, beg, or cajole people into eating them. What the odds of that happening are... best left up to you.

Have fuuuun!

Hide in your pantries, put away your candy corn, it's nearing Halloween again! And that means trick-or-treating. For those of you who weren't around for it last year: the morning of Saturday 31st, I'll put up a post in [livejournal.com profile] fandomtownies with a route of businesses and town-dwellers to go trick-or-treat at. (For reference, you can find previous trick-or-treating here) Which townies?

Well, that's where you come in. Businesses and town-dwellers (of both the teacher and townie variety), drop us a comment on this post if you'd like to be on the trick-or-treating list this year! Sign-ups are a-okay until Thursday night, 12 PST, and the event will last all day Saturday.

And, now for some hopefully funner news...

Yes, this week, it's time for Halloween yet again! And that means trick-or-treating. For those of you who weren't around for it last year: the morning of Friday 31st, I'll put up a post in [livejournal.com profile] fandomtownies with a route of businesses and town-dwellers to go trick-or-treat at. (For reference, you can find last year's here!) Which townies?

Last year on we had Trick or Treating in town, which worked out really well and was a lot of fun. Naturally that means we're trying to do it again.

On Wednesday morning I'll put up a post in [livejournal.com profile] fandomtownies, complete with OCD for those businesses and townies/teachers who would like to give out candy for the teenagers they probably think are too old to be begging for cavities kids. This is for businesses and town-dwellers only. If you want to be added to the post to be visited, sign up in this post and voila.

I know it's short notice (sorry!) but you've got until oh, say, I wake up at 5 am PST Wednesday, October 31, to get in on it.
[identity profile] freelancerchick.livejournal.com
First of all, thank you everyone who has already signed up for the Trick or Treat post tomorrow. It made me all bouncy!

Secondly, if you are a townie or resident and you haven't signed up yet but still want to. Please do so today. The post will be going up first thing when I wake up tomorrow. Thank you all very much!

Hello all! I just wanted to remind everyone who attended/is still attending the Halloween Party at Mauvaise Chance to cast your costume vote today. We'll be tallying and announcing the winners this evening EST.

And thank you to everyone who worked to put the party together, and all of you you've attended! :D

Yearbook plea

Hey, guys, if you dressed up for Halloween and had a costume icon, could you leave us a link to it in this post? We would actually like to do a bit of a feature on them for the yearbook, whenever we do it.

Request

Ladies and gentlemen at the ball.

Could I reiterate the request that those of you interacting at the ball PLEASE link your interactions beneath your sign-in in the guestbook so as to make life easier for the gossip columnists and the pirate radio crew?

Overall, the ball posts have just topped 1800. Please, please, please... help us out. Link your threads beneath your sign-ins.

We'll all be very, very appreciative.

Addams Family Halloween Ball Information Post.

A few things before we open the Ball to players.

First, this is a costume ball. If your icon useage doesn't reflect that, you're unlikely to be considered for the costume contest.

There will be seven posts that make up the Ball and all will be linked in a single post to Fandom Townies, but the Ball itself takes place in the [livejournal.com profile] efferton_manor journal as it is a whole-island event.

These posts are relatively image-heavy, but in deference to those of you with dial-up, links are provided instead of images in all but one or two places.

As there are multiple people using the journal in order to handle proper haunting, we are going to ask that all Out Of Character chatter take place in the seventh post, which will be created specifically to handle it. The ghosts are going to have a difficult enough time finding and keeping track of their victims in the threads so we’re going to ask that you don’t put OOC comments in the posts for the Ball itself. You can always add links back to what you’re commenting on.

Please keep in mind that the Manor is haunted, and if you leave the rooms marked off for the Ball and for guests, you are effectively giving us your permission to haunt you. If you leave the main areas, you may or may not be haunted – at our discretion.

The Manor is slowly being prepared for the party. We have several ghouls and ghosts signed on to haunt anyone who ventures outside the rooms opened for the party and we have four confirmed judges for the costume contest:

Bree Van de Kamp
Red XIII
The Tick
Silent Bob

We're still slowly pulling together the actual posts and comment threads but right now the Halloween Ball will consist of a huge buffet spread in the main dining hall, a smaller, cosier set-up for more private dining in the smaller dining hall, dancing in the ballroom and perhaps one or two other Halloween themed games.

This does occur on the Sunday of Parent's Weekend, and all Students, Faculty, Townies and Parents are invited to attend. This is a costume ball, however, so be certain to find appropriate apparel.
[identity profile] addams-daughter.livejournal.com
Due to the player not being near a calendar and asking someone else to tell her what the date was on Sunday, accidentally issued Halloween Invitations for a Ball 10/29 - which is Saturday. Seeing that people will probably be at Halloween Parties IRL on Saturday, the Ball was meant to be on Sunday, 10/30. The invitation has been altered and will be uploaded in the appropriate, original entries. For the moment, however...

Invitation )

Also, Wednesday has left messages for five people regarding judging the costumes at the ball. So far she's had three responses, one an unfortunate denial. If she doesn't hear back from the other two by tonight, she'll be looking for new judges. Please, everyone, remember to check your voice mail.

The ball itself will be open for business starting the morning of the 30th and run thought the day and night. Every room will have its own thread, some of which will be haunted by evil volunteers. The entire house and grounds will be thrown open to school and townies alike and foods of every description will be provided. If you do not wish to be haunted, simply stick to the rooms where actual party activity is going on and you will see no ghosts.

[livejournal.com profile] efferton_manor is where the party will be held, and the haunting will be done by the house account itself (again, manned by evil volunteers).

Important: The very first thread will be a guestbook. Its function is to track who attended the ball and, if you would be so kind as to make comments with links as to where your character went and who they were with and what happened to them, the [livejournal.com profile] fandom_radio crew and the newspaper (and possibly yearbook) staff would be deeply and passionately grateful to you. As will the people at [livejournal.com profile] fandomstalkers, probably and any character actively searching for yours. Simply mark the threads NFB or not and carry on.

Suggestions, volunteers and any other remarks are welcomed.
