Alumni: The Updated Lowdown

Hello!
This post is largely for the current alumni and senior class and is a refresher and update for the guidelines regarding alumni characters in the Fandom High game.

Alumni characters are those who have been played out through to their graduation from Fandom High. As a result of this dedication, they are allowed to continue to participate in the game beyond their years at Fandom High.

Remaining Active
In order to stay active, alumni are expected to post about their post-graduation exploits at least once per month or let the admins know that they will be unable to do so for whatever reason. That way, the admins know to consider the character active. Inactive characters, on the other hand, mean that the character will be available again for application.

Plots
Alumni are still expected to follow the rules of the Fandom High game. However, plots only need to be talked over with the admins for the following reasons:
* The plot will involve use of Fandom itself
* The plot will involve more than a few current students, teachers or townies
* The plot will have a large effect on current Fandom residents
* The plot involves touchy subjects such as active player characters involved in torture, player character death, pregnancy and extreme violence (ie: the kind of stuff that's going to get people riled up).

Basically, if it's going to affect the daily running of Fandom, including taking more than a few Fandom residents away from the island (or having them sit in Fandom up in arms over something that they'll want to act on), submit it first so we know what's going on and can make sure things don't conflict with your plot or anyone else's plot.

Also, that's not to say that we'll be dissuading anyone from acting out their own plots or stopping anyone from playing out their canon if there are touchy subjects involved, we'd just like to know when it's happening in advance so we can advise other players who might be wanting to do something big at the same time and find a compromise for both parties.

Everything else, including visits between dimensions and mixing canons, doesn't necessarily have to be sent in.

Coming to Fandom
When it comes to visiting Fandom, alumni are essentially guest stars with privileges. They need a valid reason to be in Fandom beyond popping in for a visit (events and plots are good examples). Once in Fandom, alumni will be allowed to visit the school and dorms, but will be required to stay in town. Alumni visits must be cleared first, just like any guest stars. This has always been the case and will remain the case.

Becoming Teachers and Townies and Staying Active (Redux)
Alumni and senior class, if you are considering applying for a position as a teacher or townie some time this year (Summer or Fall semesters), please email us as soon as possible at administration@fandomhigh.net as we'd like to get a feel for numbers as soon as possible.

Staying On For Summer
Because of the significant size of this year's graduating class, we will not be having graduates as workshop leaders this semester. However, we are developing a work program that will allow graduates to stay in Fandom over summer if they wish without transferring to being a teacher or townie.

Remaining Active
Also, we are requesting that all current seniors please contact us as soon as possible and let us know either way whether you intend to keep active with your alumni character or whether you're going to stop playing them.

So, in short, all current seniors should email administration@fandomhigh.net with the following:
* Whether you're intending on remaining active with that character (requiring one post per month) after graduation.
* Whether you're intending on staying on during the summer to participate in a work program (details pending)
* Whether you're intending to apply to become a teacher or townie for either Summer or Fall semesters 2007.

You can, of course, change your mind at any time between now and graduation. We're just trying to keep track of everyone so we can plan for the future.

Thanks for your time guys,

The Admins
