Weekly Entertainment - late night edition

So since this is going up rather late on the Sunday night schedule, let's keep it simple, shall we?

What's the goofiest/stupidest movie you've ever actually sat through?

*raises a hand on Jaws 4*

[identity profile] crazypilotman.livejournal.com 2008-08-11 02:49 am (UTC)(link)
Goofy in a good way or bad way? I thought Baketball looked like the dumbest thing ever (and I don't normally go for those kinds of silly slapstick) but I wound up laughing my ass off.

Ooh...have you ever tried just listening to a movie? It gives things a whole new context when you don't see what's going on. Case in point; Rob Zombie's 'House of a Thousand Corpses'. My hubby watched this thing on his laptop during a roadtrip. Me being the driver meant I had to hear thing without seeing it.

OMG dumb. I couldn't believe my hubby liked it. The dialogue made no sense whatsoever. I kept what the hell at it during the trip. At least until I finally made him find the headphones. :D

Either or! And having seen both those movies, I'm totally with you.

...then again, I've watched Cannibal the Musical and Orgazmo as well.

House of Wax. STUPID STUPID STUPID. I felt dumb after it.

[identity profile] suit-of-sables.livejournal.com 2008-08-11 03:07 am (UTC)(link)
But at least Paris Hilton bit it.

Yeah, I'll cop to House of Wax. I think it made me lose brain cells.

In my defense, I watched it because my bff's roommate put it in while she was dying my hair. So I was kind of trapped. But still.

I still can't sit through that whole movie. Ugh ugh ugh ugh.

Phantom Menace

Snakes on a Plane. Opening day. I remain unrepentant!

[identity profile] suit-of-sables.livejournal.com 2008-08-11 03:08 am (UTC)(link)
Awww, but I loved that movie! Something so unreptantly cheesetastic is just awesome.

I make no apologies for SOAP. I will still drop everything to watch it if I see it on cable.

Rat Race.

... I don't get out to the movie much, mkay?

[identity profile] suit-of-sables.livejournal.com 2008-08-11 03:08 am (UTC)(link)
...seen it. And yeah, you just kind of have to keep watching.

*snicker*

See, a lot of people i know would have said it was a good movie. But, uh, I'm with you ^_^

Goofiest in a good way - Reefer Madness.

Stupid in a bad way - Starship Troopers 2. It's the worst, most pointless movie I've ever seen.

*giggles*

Saw the first, the second just looks bad. I'll pass.

Hands-down? Vegas In Space (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0103192/). Because my ex wheedled me into it and I couldn't say no to the sad-puppy face.

But oh my GOD.

Stupidest movie I have ever, ever sat through?

Bring It On Again.

I love the first one. I... still want to see the third one, if only because of Hayden Panettiere. (Which Firefox spellcheck alternately wants to turn into 'pantyliner' or 'anesthetiser', randomly.)

But yeah. Bring It On Again was unwatchable. And yet I watched it. (I blame the almost-pretty boys.)

[identity profile] suit-of-sables.livejournal.com 2008-08-11 03:26 am (UTC)(link)
I couldn't really see the point of a SECOND one mostly because I go "...but... unique situation. Unless this is a CHEERLEADER EPIDEMIC"

Space Truckers (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Space-Truckers-Dennis-Hopper/dp/B00030ERYC). No contest.

There are NO WORDS for how awful it is.

The dub of Galaxy Express 999 is at the top of my mind right now, as I saw it just today at Animethon.

Never before has watching a person explode made me crave beef jerky in quite the same way. <3

I have to say that the stupidest (worst) movie I've sat through is The Time Machine.

I normally love those types of movies but this one I could not follow it at all.

I watched it on a flight to Fiji quite a few years ago, I'm just glad that I didn't end up seeing in at the movies like I had originally planned ... I would not pay voluntarily money to see it *twitch*

[identity profile] suit-of-sables.livejournal.com 2008-08-11 03:50 am (UTC)(link)
oooo yeah. That one just hurts.

[identity profile] suit-of-sables.livejournal.com 2008-08-11 03:51 am (UTC)(link)
Worst for me?

Alone in the Dark

I will never forgive Uwe Boll for what he did to one of my FAVORITE characters and one of my FAVORITE video games EVER.

EVER.

I suffered through the whole damn movie mostly because of the Jaws 4 response ("It HAS to get better! It has to!") and then found that the only thing I enjoyed was the ending theme song by Nightwish. OMG.

[identity profile] crazypilotman.livejournal.com 2008-08-11 04:01 am (UTC)(link)
There is another movie by that same name (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0083542/), but its harder to find. This one I want to see.

[identity profile] missed-the-gate.livejournal.com 2008-08-11 03:54 am (UTC)(link)
OMG, The Pacifier. If made for TV counts, Mega Snake. And yes, at least Mega Snake made me laugh, even if the filmmakers didn't intend for it.

[identity profile] suit-of-sables.livejournal.com 2008-08-11 03:57 am (UTC)(link)
Never saw Mega Snake. But Fire Snake was watched entirely for guy who played Chakotay and Nicholas Brendon.

And I wince. I WINCE at that movie.

Written by Shatner, btw

Saw The Pacifier though. Whoooo boy. WTF Vin Diesel. You get slack for being a proud card-carrying DnD player, but WTF.

...Oh you didn't really ask this.

Okay, so I own Anaconda, Anacondas, The Giant Gila Monster, Shark Attack 3: Megalodon, Humanoids from the Deep, Bats, Rodentz, Leeches, Snake Island, Python, Python 2, Venomous, Dark Waters, Crocodile 2, Octopus 2, Sasquatch, Curse of the Komodo, Land of the Dead, Tail Sting, Alligator 2, and the crowning glory of my collection, FRANKENFISH.

I've also sat through I think every MST3K movie (including Manos both with and without the bots), and watch Scifi for fun on Saturday nights when I'm home.

This isn't even a guilty pleasure. I have no guilt.

In theaters? Oh Alien vs. Predator 2, definitely. It was so hilariously bad. I now own it for funsies.

But I love bad movies a lot. I've seen probably every MST3K movie and I live for Scifi movies. And this weekend I watched a whole bunch of bad movies including one called Son of Hercules vs. the Molemen. And my friends and I played a drinking game with Starship Troopers and got really hammered doing that.

And for the record, I skipped school to go see House of Wax and I don't regret it at all. Of course I used any excuse to skip class back in high school. Bad movies rock!

[identity profile] missed-the-gate.livejournal.com 2008-08-11 04:44 am (UTC)(link)
AvP2 made me scratch my head in confusion. I kept trying to find plot where there was none.

Magnolia. I think that might be the only time I've ever truly wanted to walk out of a movie theater.

(I'm only taking mainstream movies into consideration. If I listed every terrible film I've seen in my quest to watch the early works of the Lord of the Rings actors, we'd be here all night. :D)

OMG That movie was so boring! I totally fell asleep trying to watch that at Reston Town Center.

But still, The Pacifier was worse. ;)
