BDE: Monsters - the Silent Hill Edition! Also, the RNG loves you.

Arranged for the use of those trapped in Silent Hill; there are some creatures on this list who won't be visiting Fandom!

Warning: image-heavy and, well, gross. Some descriptions cribbed from Wiki, some spindled and mutilated for the sake of RP.

Moddable Monsters

Stray Dogs
Description: Just real dogs -- mutts that clearly have a lot of Rottweiler, Doberman and Shepherd blood -- long gone feral and skulking around in packs. They're skinny, they're hungry, they're not tame, and they don't like strangers.

Location in Silent Hill: The streets in the real world, on Friday.

How to fight: They're dogs. With sharp teeth. Most things you try will work; they're aggressive but can be scared away if you don't piss them off too much first. If you do, they'll attack.

Showing up in Fandom: NO.
Groaner
Description: Hairless, demonic dogs with rotten brown skin and a very large set of jaws. They are also morbidly thin, making them appear starving or even dead as a result. Their hearing is very keen.

Location in Silent Hill: The school in Ash-World.

How to fight: They're fast and hard to hit with a handheld melee weapon; projectiles work best. They're dangerous but fairly fragile if you do hit them. Preferred method of dealing with them: run like hell.

Showing up in Fandom: Starting Friday.
Feral
Description: Bigger, faster, and meaner doglike cousins to the groaners. They're skinless and heavily muscled, with blood dripping from their bodies, giving them a freshly skinned look. Some are eyeless, some appear white-eyed and blind, some have faces covered with worms. Like the groaners, they have very sensitive hearing.

Location in Silent Hill: The streets in Ash-World on Saturday and Sunday, especially near the police station.

How to fight: Like the groaners, hit them HARD, preferably with a sharp object, preferably from a distance. Throw them away with your wacky mental powers. Run like hell.

Showing up in Fandom: Starting Saturday.
Air Screamer
Description: A flying pterodactyl-like creature with a vaguely humanoid face; it stands about half the height of an adult human, with a wide, batlike wingspan, and will try to claw you with its dangling legs or bite with its pointed and sharp-toothed mouth.

Location in Silent Hill: The school playground on Saturday and the town streets in Ash-World on Saturday and Sunday.

How to fight: Landing a blow with a hand-held weapon is very difficult. As such, firearms or other projectiles are suggested for shooting them out of the air. Or, you know, run like hell.

Showing up in Fandom: Starting Saturday.
Shadow Ghosts
Description: Child-size shadow-ghosts, usually caught from the corner of your eye. They'll run, laugh meanly, and sometimes cry.

Location in Silent Hill: The school in Ash-World, on the playground and in the hallways.

How to fight: Don't. They're just creepy shadows, and won't harm you or even be able to touch you.

Showing up in Fandom: Starting Thursday, here and there.
Gray Children
Description: Child-size blackened figures, their skins constantly twisting and shifting to reveal glowing embers within. They'll try to rush you and scrabble at your legs to drag you down to the ground, and their touch will burn you, as if they really are on fire.

Location in Silent Hill: The school, when the Darkness falls.

How to fight: Hit them with something hard enough to break them up into glowing chunks of coal, or the ever-popular run like hell.

Showing up in Fandom: Starting Friday.
Creepers
Description: Giant cockroaches (about half as big as your head) with sharp pincers and shrieking humanoid faces on their undersides.

Location in Silent Hill: The school, when the Darkness falls. They'll swarm out of cracks in the wall, some already there, some made by the janitor monster.

How to fight: Stomp on them.

Showing up in Fandom: Starting Friday as one here or there. By Saturday, you'll run across swarms.
Janitor-monster
Description: Well, he used to be a janitor. His lifeless, mutilated corpse is hanging out in the girls' bathroom most of the time. Now, though... he's not so lifeless anymore, though he's still pretty corpselike. Also, naked and blood-smeared. Barbed wire is wrapped around his ankles, tying them behind his head and digging into his eyes, forcing him to drag himself across the floor with his arms. He flicks a blackened, dirty tongue like a snake and screams in pain as he moves. Everything he touches turns to decay, which makes cracks in the floors and walls out of which pour creeper-bugs.

Location in Silent Hill: The school, when the Darkness falls (a hallway near the girls' bathroom)

How to fight: Mostly avoid or get past him; he's unkillable, though he could be flung away by someone with immense strength.

Showing up in Fandom: NO.
Armless Men
Description: Skulking, wobbling humanoid creatures, trapped in what appear to be straitjackets made from their own flesh. They attack by spewing a spray of acidic mist from an opening in their chest. They are slow while standing upright, but when knocked down they may hit you or stay in a lying position and move by skittering very quickly along the ground like a snake.

Location in Silent Hill: The streets in Ash-World, Saturday and Sunday

How to fight: Projectiles are better, to stay out of range of the acid, but you can beat it with hand-held weapons too. Or -- say it with us -- run like hell.

Showing up in Fandom: Starting Saturday.
Hanged Scratcher
Description: Hunched, wide-mouthed creatures which will hang from above in darkened hallways, their long claws reaching down to grab and scratch at you, trying to drag you up to their mouths for a bite.

Location in Silent Hill: Brookside Hospital corridors

How to fight: Hand-held weapons. Beat and slice the crap out of them.

Showing up in Fandom: NO.
Zombie Nurses
Description: Busty, blood-spattered nurses, their faces deformed, eyes wrapped in bandages that look as if they're made of flesh, wielding long sharp scalpels. They wait in one dark corridor of the hospital, silent and seemingly asleep until loud noises reach them or light plays over their bodies. Then they'll lurch toward you, scalpels waving.

Location in Silent Hill: Brookside Hospital, when the Darkness falls

How to fight: If at all possible, sneak past them, because they're packed so tightly into that hall that fighting them one on one is impossible. If you can't sneak, wail on them with whatever handheld weapon you have as you try to push past.

Showing up in Fandom: NO.

Non-moddable NPCs, who will not be showing up in Fandom:

Alessa
Description: A ghost? A demon? A projection of the conscious parts of a little girl's mind? All of the above. She's a 9 year old in a blue school uniform, sometimes angry and blood-spattered, sometimes pale and frightened, and she moves through Silent Hill as she pleases.

Location in Silent Hill: Everywhere

How to fight: Don't. She's not attacking you, just appearing here and there in driveby pings to freak you out or guide you on your way.
Pyramid Head
Description: A well-built, very tall humanoid male, wearing a pyramid-shaped helmet that obscures his face completely; it appears to be a rusty hunk of metal grafted onto his head, with a single hole drilled into it. A tentacle or tongue-like appendage can snake out of this hole and impale you if you're not careful, but you're probably more immediately concerned with the giant bloody butcher knife, almost as long as he is, that he's swinging at you. He is shirtless (yay shirtless! Uh.) but wearing a butcher's apron that looks like it's sewn together out of human skin. Probably 'cause it is. Pyramid Head never speaks, but muffled noises can sometimes be heard from beneath his helmet.

Location in Silent Hill: The school on Friday, when the Darkness falls, but you'll only see him from a distance. The streets on Saturday, when the Darkness falls.

How to fight: With everything you have, and hope you can hold him back, because you sure as hell can't kill him.

While we're here, let's also update you Silent Hillians on those jobs you volunteered for!

Stand guard on Friday night: Katniss, Ashley, Leda
Reach someplace creepy and gross: Leia
Pick up the phone: Ino
Sneak into the church: Francine, Didi, Jacob, Tahiri, Azula
Part touching: Jono

If that looks a lot like everybody who volunteered got a job, IT IS A COMPLETE COINCIDENCE. (Actually, it is. We only had to RNG one thing.)
