A new way to code up preplay

Ladies and gentlemen, I give you something that may just change your plots (or save your sanity):

Built by me, explained in a helpful instruction page by Relly, and graciously hosted by our beloved mind-controlling overlords:

The Fandom High LiveJournal Preplay Coder.

This will automatically generate preplay code tables, from some copy-and-pasting found on Firefox's "View Selection Source" page. (Don't worry, there are instructions on how to do that.)

You'll have to do some general clean-up: watch for OOC comments, move things which were pinged out of order, etc, and you might want to search and replace to fix the names, but this will give you nearly finished code in a matter of seconds.

I accept tribute in the form of naked icons. Or mild applause. Or whatever.

Does anyone have any idea if there's a limit to how many comments a thread can safely expand to? I'm pretty sure that Dreamwidth had some major problems with threads longer than 200 comments.

Not that that makes this less awesome, just figured I'd check... just in case.

That, I don't know. I know that sometimes, it only expands so far, in which case you have to hit 'Expand' again.

I haven't tried it on anything longer than 200 comments, tbh. I did just try it on a huge subsection from Sookie's last plot -- over 200 comments, but it was in nested threads and subthreads, if you see what I mean? So it's not the same thing. Having said that, nothing choked on that one.

If you want to find a huge single-thread post and test it out, you're more than welcome to. I didn't see one offhand that looked convenient, but I can dig. Hrm.

I'm not sure if LJ has a limit or not, but he script is only really limited by your memory and processor speed. Unless you come up with a thread where the html (not including images) is several hundred MB, I don't think you should have a problem.
