Student Council Elections!

With the fall semester upon us, it's time for more post stealing Student Council elections! This year, Zoe will be the Student Council advisor, and all she needs are students to work with!

The Student Council is comprised of 9 students total: 3 seniors, 3 juniors, 2 sophomores, and 1 freshman.

IC responsibilities for StuCo members include:
  • Showing up for meetings
  • Hosting the Parents' Weekend brunch...
  • ...the Homecoming Carnival
  • ...the Homecoming Dance
  • ...the Valentine's Day Dance
  • ...Prom
  • ...other fun events (such as field trips, flowers for Valentine's Day, finals coffee breaks, etc.)
  • ...and anything else the members come up with!

OOC responsibilities for StuCo members include:
  • Pinging into the meetings (they'll happen every other Friday during lunch, posted by Zoe and/or whoever the StuCo President ends up being).
  • Volunteering for and actually putting up the posts for carnival, prom, etc.
  • Coming up with ideas for fun events to do.
  • Organizing and implementing said fun events.
  • Tracking the StuCo comm where we do the OOC "who posts what" stuff.
  • Coordinating with me to make sure we get admin permission for anything that needs admin permission.

Since the ball is rolling on the semester, the campaigns kick off now!

OOCly: If you want to throw your character's hat into the ring, fill out the appropriate thread below. This will also count as handwavily filling out the same form IC and sticking it in a box on Zoe's door. This is the minimum requirement for getting your character's name on the ballot.

ICly: Campaign your little hearts out! Put up posters, give speeches, kiss babies, hand out buttons - whatever. You don't have to do this as part of the election, but remember that you're asking to be elected to a job that requires more work IC and OOC, so campaigning might be a good way to show both yourself and everyone else that you've got the time to put into the task.

Deadline for sign-ups is 11pm Eastern, Thursday, September 15th.
The day of the election will be Friday, September 16th.
Winners will be announced Saturday, September 17th.
The first StuCo meeting will be Friday, September 23rd.

Just follow the OCD and you'll be all set!

I never actually connected the two things, but in college, we nicknamed one of our professors StuCo.

With that in mind, will StuCo representatives have to wear floppy hats and trenchcoats and be terrible at teaching architecture?

And the teaching of architecture?

5) Why should you be elected to Student Council?: Because I am smart, driven and dedicated to making Fandom a better place for everybody. Especially the pretty people.

1) Name: Caroline Forbes
2) Class: Junior
3) Previous experience (Fandom High StuCo, jobs, clubs, or experiences from before arriving in Fandom): Student Council Vice President at Mystic Falls High School, Miss Mystic Falls pageant winner, Cheer Captain MFHS, implemented the MFHS Go Green initiative, MF Beautification Committee, soup kitchen volunteer, recycling program volunteer, Manager of the Policeman's Raffle, MF Founder's Day Float committee, MF Carnival Chair.
4) List at least one idea for an activity that Student Council could do that it hasn't done before: I think FH could use a Student Service Raffle! Maybe even a fun run or a lock in or a rickshaw wash to raise money for local charity while showing off our sexy swimwear!
5) Why should you be elected to Student Council?: The junior class should elect me to the 2011-2012 FH Student Council because I possess the right combination of energy, enthusiasm, and fabulous taste to make each event a memorable one. I've organized every type of student event imaginable in my world and look forward to trying some from your world as well. Together we can make this year in Fandom better than the last!

3) Previous experience (Fandom High StuCo, jobs, clubs, or experiences from before arriving in Fandom): A member of 4-H before coming to Fandom (where, incidentally, I won the gold medal for Best Preserves, three years running). Time with WTFH taught me to be a point man to bring the work of others (in this case, squirrels) to the masses in a fairly successful manner.
4) List at least one idea for an activity that Student Council could do that it hasn't done before: Starting community gardens and selling the resulting food at a produce stand. This can be done cheaply and any money raised could go toward something charitable.
5) Why should you be elected to Student Council?: Because I will do the best damn job I can, and that is 90% of success.

4) List at least one idea for an activity that Student Council could do that it hasn't done before: A variety show to demonstrate the amazing talent of our students! The proceeds would go to assisting victims of wars and natural disasters, since heaven knows enough people here come from less than perfect home dimension...things.
5) Why should you be elected to Student Council?: I have boundless enthusiasm and a whole year's experience on the council already to make sure our class's voice is heard! Yay, Class of 1917 2014!!!

*ggg* At the request of Wes's player, Kenzi's going to be running this campaign... and have forged this nomination, if that's cool with the mods. (He needs to get out more! ALso, get recognition! It's a good thing!)

From the mun:
Oh oh oh and in that case, can we say that Kenzi forged the student council candidate form here: http://fandomhigh-ooc.livejournal.com/862940.html#cutid1

I just realized that it's meant to be IC as well as OOC, so if he doesn't know he's running... :D

4) List at least one idea for an activity that Student Council could do that it hasn't done before: I'm new here, so I don't really know what hasn't been done before, but I was thinking about a series of floor- and dorm-wide events to build a sense of community and help everyone get to know each other, like door-decorating contests, common room sleepovers, community dinners, peer-to-peer workshops, and makeover nights! Additionally, I think disaster preparedness is very important and we should run drills and seminars focusing on what to do in case of various emergencies.
5) Why should you be elected to Student Council?: As a new student, I bring a fresh perspective to the Student Council, and as a survivor of the Miss Teen Dream disaster I have experience working with a group to organize and survive thrive.
