Lo and Behold - BDE Finale Week Sign-Ups!

Hello, folks! We're really rolling into it now... next week is Phase 4, AKA the final week of this term's BDE! That means a whole host of things, including, of course, sign-ups! So let's get to it.

What's going to happen?

On Friday, December 2nd, Portalocity is going to warn everyone that it will cease its services entirely within the next 24 hours. They will also warn that other intra-universal travel will be very dangerous, or downright impossible. On Saturday the 3rd, the causeway will also cease functioning as anything other than a normal road onto Fandom's mainland. And the Nothing... will be starting to make short work of that mainland.

On Monday December 5th something will happen that will isolate Fandom Island from the mainland entirely - just in time to keep the Nothing from devouring the island. Alone and adrift, the island is going to find itself with a whole new host of curious newly-human Auditors - who might soon be having some trouble keeping humanity's innate passionate (read: murderous) impulses at bay. By the Friday of BDE week, they'll be a full-on dangerous plague, and great measures and greater battles will have to come into play to get rid of them.

With the island's safety measures being very much temporary and failing rapidly, removing chunks of the island every day, Fandomites are going to have a rough time on the run from the Nothing and their new homicidal friends. But: there's hope. Fandom's got a few Auditorial experts on its side, and a few more tricks up its sleeve... including the dubiously safe haven of Special Collections.

What does that mean? Well, it means that at any point during the week, your character can disappear - either by straying too close to the forcefield keeping the Nothing at bay, or by being in the wrong section of the island at one of the times when it flickers and shrinks. Be especially careful during the battle on Friday - the forcefield might have some damned bad timing, and you don't want to be on the wrong side of the battlefield when it does!

What do we need?

Why, a couple of things! First of all, we're looking for anyone with knowledge of the canon - or who's willing to read and learn - to NPC Auditors for us. We'd be needing you from Tuesday through Friday, to help make Fandom a more psychotic, only-recently-embodied place! Let us know if you're interested, and we'll contact you soon to talk details.

Secondly, of course Fandom's going to keep hitting the books! While our researchers might not stumble upon the answer as easily as they have in the past, they're definitely needed. From this group, we'll RNG a number of people who will be diving into Special Collections alongside our studious librarian on Wednesday, December 7th, hoping to find a solution. Though this time around, they'll be finding chaos - not answers. Woe.

Third of all, by the weekend, a good chunk of Fandom and Fandom's own might well be gone. Starting Saturday, December 10th Special Collections will be pretty much the only safe place left on the island, and we'd like to know which ones of you are still in existence by then! (No, you probably won't be running into Umbridge... but god knows what else is in there that'll make staying the night... interesting.) Also let us know if you'd like to be RNGed to be on the finale team. While everyone (well, those left alive) will be around to hear it, only a precious few will be able to be there to pose the questions that will lead to the answer on Sunday, December 11th. Interested? You'll have to be available for preplay from Thursday, December 8th through Sunday!

Finally, we ask anyone who's interested in messing a little with their homeworlds to start thinking about tiny tweaks they want to add! We're talking small things: a river that suddenly runs azure instead of grey, a university building that suddenly looks a bit different, suddenly there's a new famous popstar who does something really weird with her hair, etcetera. Basically, changes to insignificant things that you wouldn't ordinarily pay much attention to, but that might jump out at the strangest times.

Why? We'll let you know when the time comes...

Sign-ups run until this Sunday, December 4th, so get 'em in!

Claudia is definitely down for researching and futilly milling around, RNG willing! See? She has her futility face on already.

Sam's making it to the end. She's scrappy and resourceful.

Yeah, Scully is so here, hitting the books until they cry for mercy.

Lex needs to get into the habit of researching weird stuff, yes he does.
wrongkindofsith: (And now they ded from Cara)

Throw Jack in here. While research isn't his bag, giant intuitive leaps to conclusions are.

Jen's around to hit the books. Not literally. Well. Hopefully not.

RNG, too, why not?

Gabrielle's going to make it to the end, too, because she's not allowed to come that close to mortal peril without Xena around. The honor of the slow-motion "Xeeeeeeeeeeeeeenaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!" "Gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaabrieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeelle!" montage must be maintained. Whee!

Billy has no plans to get vanished so he'll be sticking around.

Eve's sticking around to the end.

It looks from this as if anyone not on the finale team will be dead/nothinged/out of play before the finale starts. Is that correct, or am I misreading?

Also, if I'm right, what's the minimum/maximum amounts of time other characters will be gone for?
