Custom Comment Page Heads-Up

If your comments page just suddenly reverted to the Default of Evil, it's because LJ made a bork that flipped everyone's "disable custom comments" box to Yes, en masse. To fix it, just go here and flip it back to No.

For what it's worth, and I'm not sure how long this is going to last, but free accounts can now edit comments, thus making it easier for those of us who are truly outraged to resist the urge to pay for accounts in the future.

ETA: Like so.

New character accounts! New character accounts crawling out of the woodwork! \o/

For a second I was about to complain about how I already bought this account a year of paid time and this was So Unfair, but then I realized I did it for the icons.

Still. Not my smartest move, considering.

Hey, now. It wasn't an unintelligent move, provided LJ stops this bullhonkey and actually starts behaving.

Which I doubt more and more with each passing moment, but.

And, uh, while they were at it, it looks like they enabled auto-payments on some people. If you just recently cut your auto-payments because of this whole fiasco, you might want to make sure that stuck.

From the look of it, it's been activating for people who have used credit cards to pay for their accounts, period. Not necessarily those who have ever had auto on in the first place.

It didn't hit any of mine, but it would be worth it to check to make sure all accounts that have ever had money dropped on them are still secure, just in-case.

As weird as it is to say this given said company's own recent epic fail, I'm glad I've only used PayPal to pay for mine. O.O

Paypal, gift certificates, and gifts from other users, here. Thank goodness.

Same. I am grateful I am perpetually too lazy to find and type in a credit card number.

Thanks for the heads up -- they totally appear to have done so on Sam (I don't think I had hers set to auto, it doesn't seem like me to do so).

*shakes fist at LJ. Admittedly without much energy, as I'm starting to just expect monstrous levels of fail.*

Yeah. I'm still raking my brain trying to think back on any of my retired character journals, to be damn sure I didn't borrow someone's credit card for a payment on those at any point, ever.

I'm glad you managed to catch it on yours before you wound up paying for it, at least.

One would think they'd roll it back again or notify people or do SOMETHING, since holy crap, seriously unethical -- but this is LJ, so who knows?
