meme: more than meets the eye

Because we have somehow gone since September without doing this. I can't believe it either.

There are certain characteristics about the people we play that *we* know, but we get tired of repeating in every introductory ping. There's also stuff that players wouldn't really be able to figure out just looking at an icon--how tall someone is, if they have an accent, what kind of clothes they are wearing...and in some cases, if their eyes/hair/whatever are different than the PB we've picked.

So wax poetic about what your characters look/sound like, if they have tics or scars, if they have a distinct singing voice, etc! And for those who want to just copypaste, here's a link to the last time

Is a very, very old fifteen. You try being married at thirteen and pregnant by fourteen. It gives you a little bit of an oldness.

Has long, long silver-blonde hair, usually either down with a few little braids keeping it off her face, or braided back entirely.

Large green eyes -- no, we're not going with what's in the books, wtf purple.

Speaks in a ~~Westerosi~~ English accent.

Generally wears long, loose-flowing silk gowns, or rough-woven pants and...tube-wrap-top things.

Has almost nothing in the way of modesty -- half the time in the series, her midriff is showing, the other half, her nipples are. She really doesn't get why everyone here is so obsessed with covering up as much as they are.

Tiny. Like, Jaina Solo-tiny. I have no idea how tall Emilia is, but in book-canon Dany is wee, and they certainly paired her with a lot of real tall dudes on the show to emphasize it.

Has a generally soft (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3CFJDHE637w), but commanding voice. (Link's a little NWS, for language and mild violence, but only once you get a minute or so into it.)

Slender, with slightly emphasized hips and bust. She's lost weight since she's been here, if you've got an eye for it.

Speaks and writes in both ~~English~~ the Common Tongue and Dothraki. Most of what she knows in the latter is a little broken, but she knows basically what anyone would know after being thrust into a culture that didn't speak your native tongue after a year.

Should you ever see her on her horse, she does ride astride, unlike most women of her time/position would. It's a Dothraki thing. And said horse is a silver mare. She doesn't get a name, no.

She's usually with her three dragons unless otherwise specified. They're all about the size of small dogs, at this point, or large puppies. Aaaand, yes, the breakdown of dragon colors:

Drogon: Black and red
Viserion: Cream and gold
Rhaegal: Green and gold

-- MOST IMPORTANT: Cassidy is always, always, always wearing a chain with a Tiger-Eye pendant. Sometimes she may wear it beneath her shirt, but it is always on her. It's her Jewel and it's always with her unless someone takes it. If that happens, it will say so in narrative -- and she'll be asking someone like Karla or Shira (or Surreal, depending on how mad she is) to help her retrieve it. Yes, the necklace in some of her icons is a cross, but let's just pretend it's a Tiger Eye since I have not the skills to add jewelery to my icons.
-- Long red hair that is always either down loose or braided back from her face. This does not necessarily keep it out of her face, but she pretends to try. Look, there are more important things to be fascinated with than her hair.
-- Has hazel eyes.
-- Is still wearing dresses from Dharo, but has one or two pairs of jeans that she wears if she is told she needs to. She's only been in Fandom two years, so no one has managed to get her to change her style of clothing yet. Her dress colors are probably mostly earth tones -- and she loves green.
-- Is gangly as she will one day be tall, but has not been visited by the boob fairy yet.
-- Is slender and has been known to forget to eat because she is either involved with something in the land or is lost in her reading or studies.
-- Is probably always wearing boots as Alice got them for her and she has been convinced that boots are better footwear than anything else because they can do damage if she kicks someone with them.
-- Is always smiling. If she doesn't smile at you at some point, there is something wrong or she is put out with you.

-- She doesn't wear make-up and has yet to show the desire to do so.

Scars: Ronan has them. The major one I try to remember to mention when it comes up, since it's, uh, on his chest and thus usually only something you see if he's about to sleep with you (a fairly messy one where the Spear of Light came v.close to killing him), but he's also got one bisecting his left eyebrow -- about a third of the way in from the outside -- and three straight, parallel ones on the heel of his left palm, the middle one longer than the other two and also a little thicker.

-has an Irish accent that intensifies when he's tired. Or when he's flirting.
-is 21, so actually younger-looking than in his icons, but younger JRM photoshoots are, quite honestly, just plain odd, the lot of them

Has shoulder-length wavy red hair that will be pinned up in a coiffure if you see her at work or in a professional setting; otherwise, there's a good chance she has it down.

Will usually wear a hat and gloves if she's out and about.

Yes, she generally dresses like it's 1961, still. She thinks it's classy.

Has very pale, clear skin, and light blue eyes.

Curvy. Like, @b00bsb00bsb00bs curvy. I don't know her exact measurements, but they're quite large, and...there. As is her ass, incidentally, if that's more your thing.

Clocks in about 5'9" in her heels.

Is, sigh, newly thirty. She will not admit this to you easily. The only reason anyone knows in canon is because someone meanly found it out and posted it to the office bulletin board.

Tends to favor bright jewel tones, provided they don't clash with her hair.

• Telepath lacking anything resembling ethics, who WILL listen on on your narrative if you are readable to her powers. Unless she actually respects you enough not to eavesdrop. And even that's not a guarantee.

(OOC: If you ARE immune to telepathy, or a special case, tell me so here to prevent accidental modding!)

• Blonde, ice-blue eyes, 5'9" (still growing) and 120lbs. Slender and willowy, with long blonde hair. Nineteen, attractive, and knows you know it.
• Is better than you. Knows it. It shows in her body-language and speech.
• Despite what some of her icons show, she tends to dress in nice/expensive designer clothing. While she dresses to emphasize her looks, is not nearly as skimpy as the former-teacher-Emma's wardrobe, or her older 616-self.
• Has a very faint British accent from spending her formative years with private tutors and such. When she gets annoyed with you, it gets crisper. When she's sleepy, it'll fade into her native upper-class Bostonian.
• Smokes expensive imports, and always has a lighter or two on her. Will not share lighter or cigarettes unless you are one of 'her' people.
• When Emma's really pushing her powers hardcore, her eyes tend to turn pure-white and the faintest haze of pink light will flicker around her.
• Has a secondary mutation to transform her body into a flexible organic diamond form. This gives her superhuman strength, stamina, and durability, but cuts off her telepathy and basic human empathy (not that she had much of that in the first place).

→ Jace has rune-shaped scars all over his body and the darker ones are actually tattoos. He'll usually wear clothes to cover them up but you'll be able to see them on his hands and peaking out his shirt collar.
→ His hair is blonde and curly.
→ His eyes are amber/gold/tawny...they're fucking brown, Cassandra Clare, just say it.
→ Face is constantly described as being beautiful and angular and more than once he has been described as looking like an angel.
→ The only flaw in his face (lord that makes me gag but that is what Clary says) is that he has a chipped incisor tooth.
→ He's about 5'11" and is described as lean and muscular.

→ Luke has a long white scar running down the right side of his face. Very noticeable and, because of it, he tends to look menacing when he smiles.
→ Now has a long scar under his right armpit from when he died.
→ He has pretty, pretty blue eyes.
→ He has blonde hair that looks white in the sunlight and it's short, but unruly. One day he'll learn to manage it better.
→ 23 years old but since he's only actually seen 19 of those years he can pass for a teenager. More of a teenager than people on the CW, anyway.
→ Has terrible taste in clothes. Like, jorts in the summer and t-shirts that are bright orange. Ugh.
→ In the summer he'll wear sandals but if it's cooler or if he thinks there might be a fight he'll wear black Converse that will have wings pop out the sides once he says his grandmother's name.

♥ Body language tends to be 'not caring' or 'bring it' and has distinct problems with authority. Especially older males.

♥ Generally wears well-worn leather pants (not clubbing gear) and a tunic or blouse of some kind. Overbust & underbust corsets - also generally in leather - tend to make frequent appearances. Mostly because it's easy to hide weapons in them. Does not own (or like) contemporary American dress.

♥ "It was a finely sculpted face with high cheekbones, a thin nose, and slightly oversized gold-green eyes that saw everything and revealed nothing. Her slender, well-shaped body looked deceptively delicate but had strong muscles that she had hardened over the years to ensure she was always in peak condition for her chosen profession. But it was the sun-kissed, light-brown skin that made her snarl. Hayllian skin. Her father's skin. She could easily pass for Hayllian if she wore her hair down and wore tinted glasses to hide the color of her eyes. The eyes would mark her as a half-breed. She's fifteen/sixteen at this point instead of 300, and has long black hair with a slight curl.

♥ Wears a Green Jewel around her neck, always tucked under her shirt. The silver mounting is carved into two stags curved around the Jewel, their antlers interlocking at the top to hide the ring where the chain fastens. It belonged to her mother, Titian, before she was broken. If she is wearing something with a low neckline, the necklace will still be there, but may be invisible with a sight-shield around it. Surreal doesn't like other people seeing it, so unless it's mentioned in-narrative, assume you can't see it.

♥ Been training with a blade since she was wee and tiny, and is currently training to be an assassin. She's this weetiny package of simmering ~~daddy-issues~~ violence, and those that would recognize a fighter could notice.

♥ Also a 'currently off-duty' whore, as she puts it. Secure in her body, moves like it, and knows how to use it to get what she wants. Not ashamed of her current/former profession, but will so totally kick your ass if you proposition her.

♦ Jack's still fairly wee -- 5'5" and maybe 140 lb. -- but if you have an eye for it, you'll notice he's both more muscular and more graceful than he used to be.
♦ If you have a nose for it (or other supernaturally enhanced senses), you can tell he’s a werewolf.
♦ Curly blond hair, blue eyes. 20 years old; looks a bit younger than that.
♦ Reddish scarring on his upper chest and shoulder from the wolf attack. It’s covered by his clothes, but he has a tic of rubbing at the marks through his shirt when he’s worried. He has almost invisible vampire scars at his pulse points – wrist, throat, and thigh.
♦ His voice is described as "light and flexible, with an upper-class snap" and he has what sounds like a British accent. That said, if your character is very skilled at hearing differences in accents, it’s probably still possible to hear a few Czech undertones when Jack is sleepy or upset.
♦ He likes simple, well-made clothing -- collared shirts, pressed dark pants, boots with a shine to them. He’s not ostentatious about it, but you’ll rarely see him looking unkempt.
♦ Flirts with just about everybody he talks to. Isn’t really on the market; it’s just a reflex.
♦ Carries himself with a fair amount of self-assurance, unless he thinks it's better for him not to.
♦ Wolf!Jack is a black beast the size of an Irish wolfhound, with bright blue eyes and slightly curly fur.

- Is 6'2" and has blue eyes and brown hair.
- Wears glasses, which mysteriously disappear during his badass arc in season four. Alexis Denisof, his PB, snarkily credited this to spontaneous laser eye surgery. I'm gonna say contacts.
- Is, yes, currently in a wheelchair due to having been shot in the gut. Ow.
- Has an English accent. All canon says about the specifics of where in England he's from is that he went to school in Southern Hampshire. So... there, if you're the type to notice those sorts of things.

- Has quite a few scars from some past scuffles with demons, getting trampled at the Sunnydale graduation, getting tortured by Faith earlier this year, and now being shot. Joss wasn't all that nice to him, nope.

This means she has voices in her head. Lots and lots of voices, and they're all real people. She's got excellent mental shielding, but probably would register strangely to any telepathic abilities.

✌ Dōjima is a Seed. This means she posses Craft gene for magic, and has the potential to someday manifest a power. If you can see that, it's fair game.
✌ 5'8". Slender, but in great shape from working out a lot.
✌ Despite the blonde hair and blue eyes, is Japanese, and is basically a yakuza princess.
✌ Fluently bilingual, has a lilting sing-song accent in English, and doesn't always stick to one language. Mostly because she's too lazy to remember which one she's supposed to be using.

...unless it's Serious Business, and then the accent gets dropped in favor of a crisp, almost-neutral tone with mild British accents. She's a spy. It's just one of her talents.

The Orbo pendant protects her from the direct application of a Witch's power, but is toxic to humans, so she takes it off before bed or *ahem* quality time with her Romeo. ♦ Moves like the trained dancer/gymnast she is.
♦ Low-ish voice with a standard American accent. Generally, she sounds like she’s a little bit bored.

- Hair is dark blond, long and straight. She bleaches or dyes streaks in it sometimes, and generally tends to put it up or braid it a lot.
- Blue-gray eyes.
- Average height (Amber Benson is 5'4" per IMDB; Tara looks taller because most of the girls on Buffy were wee) and, while no one would ever call her fat, definitely a little curvier than a lot of girls on the island.
- Eclectic dress, by which I mean she often looks like she fell victim to a roving band of hippies. Lots of long skirts, beads, dangly earrings, a fair amount of tie-dye.
- American-accented voice, with an occasional slight stutter. Speaks slowly in general, especially when she's under stress.
- Her body language among people she doesn't know well is shy, nervous and that of someone who generally expects people to yell at her at any moment. She's uncomfortable with attention, and it's still visible.

♦ Peter Dinklage is considered tall for a dwarf -- he's 4'5". I'm saying Tyrion's a few inches shorter, since the books and the camera angles used on the show suggest as much.
♦ Has strawberry blondish hair, cut in a sort of Prince Valiant style that generally looks a little messy. Dark blue eyes. (Unlike in the books, yes.)
♦ Speaks in a relatively deep voice with a ~~Westeros~~ English accent.
♦ Usually dresses like he's a rich man from ye olde times. Well-made tunics, doublets, breeches, high boots, etc. Wears heavy rings on both hands. He has some contemporary clothes now, but he'll only wear them if he's trying to make a point.
♦ The books describe his walk as "waddling."

♥ Her hair is blonde and falls a few inches past her shoulders. She usually has at least part of it pulled back or up. It's dyed, and if you care enough you can probably tell.
♥ She has big brown eyes.
♥ She's 5'6" or so and thin, but not in a way that's at all athletic. A softy. She can rock a girlfight if provoked, though.
♥ She dresses stylishly and expensively, and her clothes are usually a little flashy -- bare shoulders, bold colors, fur trim, big necklaces, manicures, bright red lipstick. Everything she owns is expensive.
♥ She's also just sort of a flashy, dramatic person. Speaks with italics, big bold gestures, all of that.
♥ Fairly naive and sweet, though it's easy to get distracted by the flash and not catch that part.

- Is 5'5" and has really long, wavy brown hair currently in this (http://www.disneydreaming.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/Hannah-Montana-Forever-10.jpg) style and blue-green eyes.
- Is really clumsy for someone who dances as well as she does.
- Sings well (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vmKsCMgROCQ). She's an alto, and you can tell that what talent she has doesn't come from training (because in canon she hasn't had much training) -- it's just sort of natural to her.
- Has a Tennessee accent that isn't immediately obvious most of the time, but when she's irritated or stressing a point, it's REALLY pronounced. Kind of talks like this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VnCvSh5f3ag).
- Wears a lot of leggings, layers of shirts, long necklaces, shorts when it's warm enough, skinny jeans only when it's freezing and pants are a necessity, etc.
- Fidgets a lot and talks with her hands.

5'7" and lanky as alllllll hell
Red hair, like, happily auburn, with a streak of some alternate, unnatural color a layer or so back from her face on the right side, which changes color on a regular basis, be it blue, purple, pink, green, or even bright white. She'll occasionally curl her hair as well.
Likes to layer up, usually with odd, funky things she might have grabbed at one of those fancy second hand boutiques that thrift stores use for their odd, funky things that hipsters might buy. You know, like sweatshirts with giant zippers silkscreened onto the back or purple waist-coats.
Frequently accessorizes with vintage and/or steampunkish accessories (like broaches shaped like gold guns. I'm not kidding).
Will be wearing her tool belt if she's working on anything. And sometimes even when she's not.
Almost everything she says sounds dry and/or sarcastic. This is usually because she's teasing you.
She totally talks with her hands.
Has fangs. They're not vampire fangs, but rather a full set of regular tooth-sized sharp pointiness. I'm going to say they're not as obviously pointy as they were last fall before the Nothing BDE, in part because I don't have any icons that show them any more and keep forgetting to mention it.

Small, 5'3" and skinny, but mad scrappy.
Blonde, rocking a bit less of the bangs than in some of the icons (these things come from three seasons, yo, and her PB is only a little bit older than the character herself)
Wears a fair amount of eye makeup -- what? she learned how to put that stuff on for the camera, yo -- and form fitting shirts and pants, showing off her fairly substantial curves
Probably smells like meat
Dresses in mismatched layers including a variety of colors and patterns at the same time (including stripes, despite claiming in one episode that she hates them)
Frequently wears bermuda shorts or capri-length cargo pants
Speaks in a relatively deep voice for a seventeen year old girl
Wears underwear bought at casinos (not that this is terribly likely to be something a character will notice, but it has come up more than once in canon)
Is very flexible.

Less than 14 hands (about 5 feet) at the withers.
Bubble-gum pink with a darker pink, curly mane and tail.
Has blue and yellow balloons on her flank on both sides.
Has large, blue eyes
Is pretty much perpetually smiling.
When she gets depressed, her hair deflates (with sound effects) into a stick straight drape of mane, and her coat and hair go paler pink.

Vince is pretty much what you see is what you get. He's of average height (5'9"ish, I think -- IMDb totally doesn't list the actor's height!), roundly built, with curly hair and long side-burns. He wears khaki shorts under his apron, usually, and speaks with a slight lisp.

Lean, but pretty well-muscled for a girl.
Dresses casually, in jeans and t-shirts, with her sword (strapped to her back, beween her shoulder blades), utility belt and other weaponry when she can get away with it. Also a cloak, when it gets cold. She likes cloaks.
Accent is generic American, with a hint of Southern in her expressions.
Holds herself confidently, in that way that people who can kick all kinds of ass tend to be able to do.
