Student Council Elections!

The first week of the fall semester is almost over, and that means it's time for Student Council elections! Zoe is so looking forward to working with you all...

The Student Council is comprised of 9 students total: 3 seniors, 3 juniors, 2 sophomores, and 1 freshman.

IC responsibilities for StuCo members include:
  • Showing up for meetings
  • Hosting the Parents' Weekend brunch...
  • ...the Homecoming Carnival
  • ...the Homecoming Dance
  • ...the Valentine's Day Dance
  • ...Prom
  • ...other fun events (such as field trips, flowers for Valentine's Day, finals coffee breaks, etc.)
  • ...and anything else the members come up with!

OOC responsibilities for StuCo members include:
  • Pinging into the meetings (they'll happen every other Friday during lunch, posted by Zoe and/or whoever the StuCo President ends up being).
  • Volunteering for and actually putting up the posts for carnival, prom, etc.
  • Coming up with ideas for fun events to do.
  • Organizing and implementing said fun events.
  • Tracking the StuCo comm where we do the OOC "who posts what" stuff.
  • Coordinating with me to make sure we get admin permission for anything that needs admin permission.

Since the ball is rolling on the semester, the campaigns kick off now!

OOCly: If you want to throw your character's hat into the ring, fill out the appropriate thread below. This will also count as handwavily filling out the same form IC and sticking it in a box on Zoe's door. This is the minimum requirement for getting your character's name on the ballot.

ICly: Campaign your little hearts out! Put up posters, give speeches, kiss babies, hand out buttons - whatever. You don't have to do this as part of the election, but remember that you're asking to be elected to a job that requires more work IC and OOC, so campaigning might be a good way to show both yourself and everyone else that you've got the time to put into the task.

The deadline for sign-ups is 11:59pm Eastern, Tuesday, September 17th.
The day of the election will be Wednesday, September 18th.
The election winners will be announced Thursday, September 19th.
The first StuCo meeting will be Friday, September 20th.

Just follow the OCD and you'll be all set!

What is StuCo planning to do about the economy?

1) Name: Aino Minako ◕‿◕✿

2) Class: JUNIOR!!!! \o/
3) Previous experience: I was on StuCo last year and had a blast!!! My schools in Japan also did many cultural fairs.
4) List at least one idea for an activity that Student Council could do that it hasn't done before: Interdimensional Food Festival! There's, like, so many foods that the cooking class can't cover, and not everyone is in the cooking class, and it would be a great way to bond with our classmates and learn about the cultures of our teachers!

5) Why should you be elected to Student Council?: I love people and I have tons of positive energy and I love school events! And I very much believe in school spirit and unity, and feel that the student experience at Fandom High can - and should - be a priority of the Student Council.

1) Name: Loki Laufeyson
2) Class: Junior
3) Previous experience (Fandom High StuCo, jobs, clubs, or experiences from before arriving in Fandom): I have been on the council of students since my freshmen year!
4) List at least one idea for an activity that Student Council could do that it hasn't done before: I believe we should go on a hunt for wild boar. Not that I wish to hunt, but that is new. And team building as a boar may tear a man apart should he not be careful!
5) Why should you be elected to Student Council?: Because I would use my power justly and not enslave my classmates.

1) Name: Jessica Drew
2) Class:Senior
3) Previous experience (Fandom High StuCo, jobs, clubs, or experiences from before arriving in Fandom): Co-head cheerleader last year, employee at Stark Industries for the past year, and broadcaster on WTFH
4) List at least one idea for an activity that Student Council could do that it hasn't done before: Turn one of the dances into a blind date dance. Everyone who walks in gets paired with somebody at random, giving them a whole new way to experience the dance and a whole new reason to hit the spiked punch bowl at the end of the night.
5) Why should you be elected to Student Council?: I should be elected because, first off, somebody has to do it. And if somebody has to, then that somebody should care about this school and its students as much as I do. If you can convince me that something is in the best interests of the school, I will do everything within my power to make it happen.

Summer intern for [Redacted], summer 2013.
4) List at least one idea for an activity that Student Council could do that it hasn't done before: We could hold a contest where if students raise a certain amount of money for the school, we'll ban glitter at dances. I'm just spitballing here.
5) Why should you be elected to Student Council?: I'm really smart, I've been at Fandom for forever, and the time that most people spend socializing is pretty wide open in my schedule. I also come with my own laser tag equipment for StuCo bonding activities. Basically you'd be lucky to have me.

3) Previous experience: I've been an aide at the library since my freshman year, a TA for Professor Dracula's class about Monster/Human relations, a radio broadcaster this past summer, and I have plenty of experience with weird school surroundings and student bodies from both here and my last school.
4) List at least one idea for an activity that Student Council could do that it hasn't done before: Has the school done a proper science fair? I'd like to see one of those, or some kind of career fair where professionals from various fields come in to show students what their jobs entail, to help them prepare for life after high school.
5) Why should you be elected to Student Council?: I'm a good guy not going to go crazy and become a supervillain committed to doing the very best I can for the students of Fandom High!

4) List at least one idea for an activity that Student Council could do that it hasn't done before: Without knowing everything Student Council has done before, you can never ever go wrong with a date auction. I mean, everyone here is pretty.
5) Why should you be elected to Student Council?: I'm awesome, I get things done, and people like it. That's all the reason you need.
