And Now... Traditional BDE Sign-Ups, Ahoy!
Hello, all!
First things first: everyone who's submitted an app for an NPC has been approved. You'll see two brainstorming posts going up this weekend where you can discuss details and sort out plotlines. NPCs will be welcome on island starting on the 18th - they may all appear at once, but they may also appear throughout the week. Unlike our local AU-ites, they'll be very confused to find themselves here.
Second of all, the BDE starts in three weeks, on Tuesday the 25th! What does that mean? Sign-ups, and a quick primer on what's about to happen!
Late in the night on Monday the 24th of March, a very angry man will appear on island looking for someone. On Tuesday morning, he'll start literally ripping the island apart to find her... meaning that buildings and people all over the island might suddenly start reverting or flashing forward to other past, future or concurrent versions of themselves. We will only be changing buildings that currently have no owner - however, owners of on-island establishments are free to change them around, including their NPCs. Yep, that means we could have a saloon on island. Or a hoverboard store. It's up to you.
Unfortunately, it's also going to have some... not so nice consequences. After all, not everyone who's been on Fandom past and present has been a nice person, or even really all that easy to talk to. Monsters and bad guys of all shapes and sizes will start flooding the island over the course of the week. At one point even literally - at some point during the week the dorms are going to (very briefly) be in a really bad place. (We hope everyone keeps their windows closed.)
Finally, those rifts that appeared in January and sporadically across February? They'll be constant. Weird music. Strange sounds. Brief flickers of other locations. The works. You're free to keep modding those, but we'll also make sure to post plenty during the week.
With our angry antagonist's arrival, roads to the island will have been closed off. If you are trying to avoid the BDE, you'll have to make sure you get off the island by Monday 24th! Alternatively, for the more dramatic option, the sheer AU confusion of this week might give some a bad case of the rift sickness. It's a condition in which a character remembers being dead and alive at the same time, sparking a state of severe confusion that will either render them unwilling to move (too caught up in their own heads) or mindlessly repeating actions from an hour, a week or a month ago, whether or not the right tools are actually available. An example can be found here, but note: it's very creepy.
The BDE will end on the night of Saturday, March 29th. On Sunday, reality will slowly begin to return to normal. AUed Fandomites will go back to their old selves, but remember everything about their time as their AU self. NPCs will begin to fade from Fandom, but have time to say their goodbyes.
What do we need from you?
The important part! BDE means sign-ups, of course, so here's what we've got for you. We need a research team, who will figure out several important points during the plot and will pave the way for the finale. We need a strike team, to confront this angry angry man before he does any more harm-- and we need a finale team, to drive the ball home. Please sign up under the appropriate OCD below. Deadline is Wednesday, March 19th.
Preplaying for the strike team and aspects of the research team will begin shortly after sign-ups close. Preplay for the finale team will start in the middle of the BDE week.
