Summer Travels Week One: Pangaea!
Based on this AU (in a kind of "inspired by the events" kind of way), and this trip!
Late Sunday, after everybody goes to sleep, the island will be heading to its very first AU destination...and that AU is DINOSAURS! When everyone wakes up, much of Fandom Island will be covered by lush, prehistoric jungle full of old growth trees, ferns the size of your average alot (and they are NOT FOR EATING, SHANNON), balmy temperatures and humidity...
And dinosaurs, of course.
The island is basically going to be 1/3 Marvel's Savage land, 1/3 the wilds of Isla Nublar, 1/3 Flintstones, and 100% the idea of dinosaurs you had when you were 8 years old and playing with cheap plastic toys.
Is it going to have dinosaurs that died millions of years apart somehow co-existing at the same time? Hell yeah it will. I'mma get my brontosauruses and my T-Rexes and my velociraptors and my ankylosauruses and my pterodactyls all in one place. It's gonna be like 1985 dinosaurs up here, all scales, no feathers. We have left science behind and gone straight to cool. *sunglasses*
(Also, I expect our island of GIANT GODDAMN NERDS to complain about the scientific inaccuracy, even as they're fighting off dinosaurs.)
The Preserve is now a trackless wilderness, with the teal deer wisely staying out of sight. The waters around the beach are teeming with plesiosaurs and icthyosaurs and megalodons and at least one mosasaurus. (Sidon, please be careful!) Selkie Peak is gonna be the roosting point for pterodactyls. It's a wild and dangerous world out there once you leave town proper.
The town and school are, of course, much safer. Tamed and trained raptors pull rickshaws. Little kids go to school safely tucked between the plates of a stegosaurus. Omelettes are all made from giant dino eggs, kept in hutches or trapped in the wild. Garbage disposals are tubby little dinos that can eat anything! Slides are patient dino tails. The stable is full of horse-sized dinosaurs for riding and the park has miniature dinos for tots to climb over. Instead of dogs or cats, your pets can AU'd into dinosaurs. Basically, if you can imagine the Flintstones using a dinosaur for a purpose, it's here.
As a note, there are no other people here; just Fandom's usual complement of PCs and NPCs.
Dates: May 13 - May 19 (So, yes, it does overlap with 20 Year Reunion. Everyone's all now so old they're literally hanging out with dinosaurs.)
State of the Causeway: On! (Which means that the Causeway is open to the wider world. Have fun exploring completely scientifically inaccurate Pangaea if you want to!)
Available AUs: None! It's the first week of the trip and 20 Year Reunion beside. So instead, sit back and enjoy the weird. Pet a dinosaur. Fight a dinosaur. Explain to a 'dinosaur' that it's actually a pterosaur and somehow that's ~*different*~. See how far that gets you. Check to see if that's a maaaaagical liopleurodon, Charlie. But whatever you do, do it as yourself!
...Your pets, however, can be AU'd into tiny murder-lizards. Because who doesn't want a cat-sized triceratops lumbering after them?
