OOC: the island goes on vacation!
To severely understate it, 2020 isn't going so hot. And one of the only saving graces of this stupid trash fire of a year is Animal Crossing, which means I decided to go ahead and bring it to Fandom for a week like we all deserve⦠right after a laundry strike and truth day.
This is not a BDE. This is simply a week where your characters get to live in the world, and fish and shake trees and make cheerful animal friends.
So from the week of July 12-July 18, the island is going to go ahead and move temporarily to the Animal Crossingverse. You'll all wake up like normal on Sunday, but there will be some changes made to the island. This is just a basic rundown, I'll follow it up with more detail closer to it:
-Cheery, calming music plays in the background all the time.
-You now have pockets that are basically bags of holding.
-You no longer have money. It's all been replaced with bells.
-The trees of Fandom are now covered in fruit: pears, apples, peaches, and cherries.
-There are palm trees on the beach, with coconuts on them.
-There are fish in the pond and the ocean, just waiting to be caught.
-You can catch sea creatures in the ocean.
-Rocks can be hit in order to get materials.
-You can build furniture at logs and workbenches.
-You can buy turnips on Sunday that you can sell at participating businesses by the end of Saturday. That's right, you're playing the stalk market.
-Wishing on a star will make star parts wash up on the beach for you to collect.
-There are talking, anthropomorphic animals on the island and they want to be friends. See below!
-You can make permanent changes to your home or business as long as you pay off your exorbitant loan to a raccoon. You can also make some changes to the island itself by adding features, though you'll be entirely responsible for paying for it. Capitalism, bro.
-You can sell things you build and collect to a couple of raccoons at Turtle and Canary. It's a whole raccoon racket.
-The island has an airport by the beach for the week, which is run by dodos.
-The island will have a museum run by an owl, which will be staying in Fandom after the week!
-You will find yourself making puns about the things you catch. Terrible, terrible puns.
I'll go into more detail closer to the day, because I also wanted to offer this up for suggestions. I'm sure there's things I might not be thinking of, or maybe someone wants to bring in something from an older game, so if there's anything you would like to suggest should be incorporated, please let me know below and I'll include it in the next post!
Also, you can play villagers. These are the anthropomorphic animals who will wander around calling you nicknames and offering bells in exchange for gifts. They will be staying at campsites throughout the island and talking about moving here (they won't actually do it before they end of the week) and generally being friendly at you. You'll also find them camping at other islands you might visit. While Tom Nook, Blathers and Isabelle are covered, you can app any other villager that exists in the games and play them out of a shared NPC journal.
Finally, about the museum: It's run by an owl named Blathers who will happily take your donations! As in, if you have a bug, fish, sea creature or fossil, you can donate it to the museum, which will be part history museum/butterfly habitat/aquarium that will remain in town even after the event.
As for fossils, notable items from throughout Fandom's history will be buried around the island to be dug up. We're talking things like an Auditor cloak from The Nothing, a copy of Tiger!, a petrified shark from the sharkicane, dinosaur bones from that time dinosaurs attacked, etc. These will become exhibits in the history part of the museum.
And then you can either take your guests there at Parents Weekend and say "I TOLD YOU SO" or deny the very existence of it to keep them from going.
Now for the OCD.

A. I will be sucked into a time vortex where I may not be able to escape from.
B. I would have to let my kids play and they really don't need another excuse to not clean their rooms.
However I'm down for these type of shennanigans as it will make Eleanor's brain hurt.

App a villager
Re: App a villager
Player name: Bella
Villager name: Redd
Anything else? I AM APPARENTLY THE SKETCHY BOAT-PERSON PLAYER. I HAVE ACCEPTED MY ROLE.
Proposed changes
Changes to town or the common areas of the dorms can be suggested and will be subject to review! (Dorm rooms can get new furniture but no permanent changes.)
Any changes made will render that location useless during construction until the next morning. Please suggest a day to take for renovations so we know what's closed when. For instance, if someone requests the third floor common room gets an upgrade Monday morning, it'll be closed until Tuesday and Wayne would have to improvise.
