Willow's timeline//idea for plotline

General plotting post:

FIRST, ATTENTION ALL BUFFY CHARACTERS: I'm not sure exactly where Willow's character falls in the timeline right now. Probably somewhere earlier than season five. I see her as approximately around season three(?), practicing magic, but definitely pre-Tara. She's got feelings for girls but not sure what to do with them yet. Still kind of a girlfriend to Oz.

[livejournal.com profile] not_an_ex_demon, your character seems to be on a very different timeline. We'll have to figure out how to reconcile the two.

The backstory on how Willow got to fandomhigh: Sunnydale was completely obliterated by the Hellmouth, rather reminiscent of a recent hurricane's effects on a Gulf Coast state. She was airlifted off a mall parking lot roof as part of the Hellmouth Airlift and taken to a refugee facility in LA where she and several thousand other former residents of Sunnydale were aided by the Hellmouth Disaster Victims Relocation Authority in resettling. She arrived at [livejournal.com profile] fandomhigh rather earlier than the other students and got her own room because of her good grades and, I think, although [livejournal.com profile] principleconnor would never admit it, because of her PTSD status.

ATTENTION ALL THOSE MAGICALLY INCLINED AND INTO PARALLEL UNIVERSE-TYPE STORY LINES
Willow's room is very cozy, but the windows have completely refused to budge. She's tried everything she can think of to get them open and will eventually resort to magical means. What she doesn't know ::duh-duh-DAAA:: is that the windows are actually a portal to another dimension. Haven't figured out what's on the other side. Maybe a world exactly like this one only entirely different. I'd love to get some others involved in that story line if there is interest.

Yay!!

I'm playing Buffy as having been sent to Fandom High after Angel lost his soul so as to keep a Slayer alive. Problem is on her journey to Fandom High, she got glimpses of other timelines and other futures, so she does know of Faith and Anya. She's pretty sure she and Anya are friends, not so sure about Faith.

So, incredibly happy to see that Willow is there, but she's not sure if it's her Willow or a Willow from another timeline. However, the enthusiastic greeting she received from Willow did help to assuage a lot of fears she had about not being accepted by her friends because they wouldn't know her.

[identity profile] notstakedyet.livejournal.com 2005-09-14 03:02 am (UTC)(link)
Oo - I like your idea.

Basically I'm happy to play Angelus as knowing whoever he needs to know or not knowing whoever he needs to know, based on whatever makes the other players happy. So I like your idea of that glimpse of other dimensions. Covers our asses for the knowledge and lets us go with whatever works best for everybody's story.

And, so as not to spam, I'll add that I think our "canon" is that Anya and Xander are from two different dimensions. So that covers a lot of plot holes for those two.

[identity profile] forlornslayer.livejournal.com 2005-09-14 09:42 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks. ;)

Buffy is still in love with "Angel" and seeing Angelus here (living right across the hall) is going to screw with her big time. I see lots of angst and opportunities for fighting and fun between these two---if that's okay with you.

At some point she'll probably discover that there are people at the school that could return Angel's soul.

I'm interested in getting together with you either at our "Town Hall" or whatever and discuss ideas. Same with any of the other Buffy characters that might be interested.

[identity profile] notstakedyet.livejournal.com 2005-09-14 12:08 pm (UTC)(link)
We definitely gotta play these two off of each other. Fighting and fun is more than okay by me.

Hit me with whatever ideas you've got. I'm open to anything. =)

[identity profile] forlornslayer.livejournal.com 2005-09-14 12:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Glee. I'm envisioning Buffy opening her dorm room door to go to class and seeing Angelus opening his door...right across the hall from her. Then we could go from there?

Whee! Buffy meltdown. The only one she'll ever loved turned evil...living right across the hall from her!

[identity profile] notstakedyet.livejournal.com 2005-09-14 12:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Go for it! I'm about to scoot off to work so I'll be busy for the next hour or so, but if you set it up I can send psycho-lad in as soon as I get a sec. Heck, maybe she even sees him as he's coming out to run a little... errand he'd like to do. [shifty eyes]

[identity profile] forlornslayer.livejournal.com 2005-09-14 12:40 pm (UTC)(link)
*laughs*

I'm at work now and will set it up as soon as I get the chance to.

[identity profile] notstakedyet.livejournal.com 2005-09-14 01:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Fab. I'm at work now and am at the stage where it's pockets of actual work at work and pockets of time to play around on the 'net.

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/_gottahavefaith/ 2005-09-14 04:09 am (UTC)(link)
I like the different timelines idea. Faith is just cannon up to season three, and then she's been sprung from prison by the watcher's council.
This could be real cool if Faith and Buffy meet up, with Faith thinking it's her Buffy.

[identity profile] forlornslayer.livejournal.com 2005-09-14 09:38 am (UTC)(link)
The different timelines seemed to be the best idea I could come up with so as to not accidentally trample on the plans that other muns had for their characters.

As I told Angelus' player, I'm open. ;) I loved the character of Faith and thought more could have been done with her and with the friendship or subtext or whatever was between the two characters.

That idea would be really cool.

I'm looking forward to it.

[identity profile] not-an-ex-demon.livejournal.com 2005-09-14 04:12 pm (UTC)(link)
hmmm, about the magic shop, you could just ... delete the text. i'm so tempted to do that after hearing everyone else's ideas :P but it's probably wrong on so many levels.

the windows thing is a definite help in a pinch. hey, does that mean anya can still blame you for everything? haha.

having other characters get glimpses into their own "futures" (by getting together and talking), and being disturbed by what they are told or what they see, could be an interesting plot catalyst...

[identity profile] notashepherd.livejournal.com 2005-09-14 02:24 am (UTC)(link)
Would you be averse to having Willow be a part of this (http://www.livejournal.com/community/fandomhigh_ooc/52057.html)?

Considering Willow is certainly an exceptional student... she fits nicely with what Book is trying to do. :)

[identity profile] nightsmoonchild.livejournal.com 2005-09-14 04:25 am (UTC)(link)
I'm playing Oz before he learned to control the wolf, which would work with Willow's established storyline.

I'm still working on other details, just wanted to throw that out there.

[identity profile] not-an-ex-demon.livejournal.com 2005-09-14 05:53 am (UTC)(link)
Hmm, seems like that's more season 4 Willow to me...

Yeah, I feel bad... kind of went nuts on Anya's backstory before really consulting with anyone. But I figured there would be no other reason for her to be in high school, technically not being of high school age (I mean, after the Ascension, she didn't transfer, and there's no way she had a GED by then having only been in high school for about a season as a human).

Multiple timelines are good, since young Giles is here. I seem to remember [livejournal.com profile] principalconnor mentioning that it was just an inherent trait of this school that it is multidimensional and that she was planning on mentioning this to everyone with some sort of vague explanation... whether that is meant as a simple "fix" for all the different characters or whether players can actually explore this as a potential plot point. Seems like it would be hard to get everyone on board without an official announcement with our findings.

However, Anya is not one to just drop the whole "WTF? Two Xanders?" phenomenon, so it's probably best to at least alleviate her tension soon. Is it worth reforming a Scoobie gang while here? It seems like the natural thing the characters would do (oooh, maybe then Anya can fall in love with the School Xander because he's less serious and dump her 4th/5th season Xander and like, not have to take the bus anymore *pleaseplease*).

[identity profile] notstakedyet.livejournal.com 2005-09-14 01:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Well what's nice is that BTVS/AtS canon allows for the multiple AU concept, so it's easy to adjust to things like that by saying it's versions of characters from different dimensions, and for all of our characters to shrug their shoulders at that and move on, because not like finding out about AUs is weird for them.

[identity profile] not-an-ex-demon.livejournal.com 2005-09-14 04:16 pm (UTC)(link)
true, but remember when xander split in season 5 of buffy, anya still needed to be told he wasn't some sinister imposter... she'll need the same reassurance here somehow :) otherwise i'm a little stuck being the obnoxious Nancy Drew anya for a while.

at least from what she's been seeing around school she can probably stop pretending she's always been human pretty soon :P it's exhausting.

[identity profile] not-an-ex-demon.livejournal.com 2005-09-14 04:07 pm (UTC)(link)
hahahaha, don't embarrass me, i'm not that knowledgeable. i've been going by several online sources, like www.buffyguide.com and so on. oh, and i guess i have seasons 1, 4 and 5 on DVD ;)

do you mean where we are in the plot in this game? or where we would be in relation to our respective seasons? because it seems like we're all tweaking our canon in some way.

[identity profile] pubkeeper.livejournal.com 2005-09-14 01:44 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't know if I'm applicable to any of this, but Spike is a townie, running a pub, and I'm playing him at some nebulous season 5-ish point wherein he has his chip, no soul, and he's carrying a tiny torch for Buffy that he's in no way interested in trying to pursue, except on days that he DOES want to. I say this because I don't want [livejournal.com profile] chosenslayer_ to feel obligated to do anything, and I think based on his behavior so far, my boy's more into playing the field with any woman who'll give him the time of day. ;)

[identity profile] notstakedyet.livejournal.com 2005-09-14 01:45 pm (UTC)(link)
What's your feelings on Spike and Angelus? We gotta get those two crazy kids in the same room together at some point.

[identity profile] notstakedyet.livejournal.com 2005-09-14 02:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Angelus needed an extracirrucular and decided to make one of his own. ;)

Hey, long as I've got you - I'm working with the assumption that Angelus knows Willow could slap the soul back into him. We could do that because their backstory is that she actually did at some point, or we could still Buffy-mun's idea of Angelus getting a glimpse of that happening in another dimension. Do either of those work for you? I'm flexible.

[identity profile] notstakedyet.livejournal.com 2005-09-18 03:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, end of s2. Though I talked with the mods and it looks like any soul spells, be they to put it in or take it out, are not automatic. I don't know how they're going to translate that to the actual game, but it looks like Willow can't just say she put the soul into Angelus and poof! he's souled. And likewise just because Angelus has that de-souling paperweight in storage at The Old Firm doesn't necessarily mean all anybody has to do is press a button and he's back to Angelus again.

Which I thought was fair.

I honestly have no idea what the status is on people knowing if he's souled or not. Sidle issued a warning to all the teachers, but within the student body it's possible that some still don't know.

[identity profile] pubkeeper.livejournal.com 2005-09-14 02:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, heck yeah. I was especially amused when Xander wandered into the pub and informed me you guys were roommates. I've also been vaguely chatting up Faith. As a non-student (and because I'm too busy in RL), I'm not really keeping track of the main comm very much, but if anyone wants to drop by the pub and cause some trouble, I'm down with it. We could maybe work out heavy plottage at a later point if you're interested. :)

[identity profile] notstakedyet.livejournal.com 2005-09-14 02:20 pm (UTC)(link)
That works. The nice thing is that canonically Angelus and Spike could either be best mayhem-causing buds or utterly sick of the sight of each other, and sometimes both at once. So that gives us a lot of leeway for them to either be hanging out or avoiding one another, as our RL schedules permit.

[identity profile] pubkeeper.livejournal.com 2005-09-14 02:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Exactly. Sounds great!

[identity profile] pubkeeper.livejournal.com 2005-09-14 02:14 pm (UTC)(link)
*heh* Couldn't have said it better myself. ;)

Sorry for the late arrival; I'm likely to be running late both with specific tags and being able to check Xander's friendslist this week. ;)

My Xander is Season 3, since like you I was going for a time when he's naturally in high school rather than futzing around with wacky reasons to make him a kid again, plus that gets him out of any pre-existing 'ships so he can interact with whomever without always appearing as the Xandelia/Xanya gestalt.

I set up a tentative backstory that in his timeline they decided the safest way to get out of the Graduation Day danger was to get the kids the hell out of the school, instead of arming them as rebel forces, so everybody from his Sunnydale High has been transferred elsewhere --

BUT - your Willow's backstory is just as useful for the same time period; I've got no problem making my Xander be from your reality and tweaking his bio. The only things I'm keen on sticking to are that it's after he's had sex with Faith (The Zeppo) and after she tried to kill him (Consequences) so he can stick with being wary around her.

[identity profile] notstakedyet.livejournal.com 2005-09-14 02:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, see, stuff like this is why it's easier for Angelus to at least have a backstory that goes to s3 Buffy. That way he at least knows about Faith, Willow as a witch, Anya, etc.

I am magically-inclined, and have interest in the parallel dimension subplot.

[identity profile] okelle.livejournal.com 2005-09-15 05:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Great! Can you tell me more about your fandom? BTW, this is [livejournal.com profile] studentwillow's "mom" --- I'm not allowed to post as studentwillow during biz hours ;-)

[identity profile] carter-i-am.livejournal.com 2005-09-18 01:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Erm. *waves hand*

Not magically inclined by rooming with [livejournal.com profile] chosenslayer_ and sorta defaulting into the madness.

Has experience with parallel AUs (at least one) and knows of their existance. Is more willing to accept technological explanation for the ability to 'jump universes' (there's a bit on it in this post (http://www.livejournal.com/users/carter_i_am/10875.html)) but also is willing to go by the axiom that any sufficiently advanced technological system is indistinguishable from 'magic'.
