All right, that's it.

Students are not allowed to carry guns or weapons. This, we already know.

However, new rule -- as of this moment, the teachers aren't allowed to carry guns or weapons, either.

Let me explain why.

THIS IS A HIGH SCHOOL. I REPEAT, THIS IS A HIGH SCHOOL.

It is in character for at least five of the teachers to carry guns in their everyday life and at least four of them to carry swords. However, we don't need to, and we shouldn't ... not anymore. And please keep in mind that I'm saying this as Sarah Connor. If anybody at the school should complain about prying their weapon from her cold, dead hands, it's her.

But we won't be doing that. You know why? Because after not-all-that-much consideration, it's wrong for the teachers to be freakin' ARMED, and the students not to be. Why should a handful of adults be armed against a bunch of teenagers? And I feel like the term "teenagers" should be repeated once more for anybody who seems to be missing that point. Are some of these students dangerous? Yes. But they're not so dangerous that ADULTS should be carrying GUNS to ward off TEENAGERS.

Now, before anybody points out the obvious -- *points to icon* -- Sarah has fired her weapon once. ONCE. Three shots in the air to break up a verbal argument for comic effect.

And before anybody tries to argue that they need a weapon to keep their students in line, NO. If you need a gun or a sword to keep your students in line, you should NOT be teaching. You should be able to keep teenagers in line without projectile weaponry. Sarah can do it, and will be doing so from now on. (God knows she doesn't need a weapon to be intimidating.) Remember high school? Your teachers could do it.

Any teacher who refuse to teach without a gun nearby will be fired. On the same token, any teacher who specifically persecutes any one student over everybody else without some real evidence other than what's in their school files will also be fired. A student's school files are not only confidential, but also not applicable to anything happening in their lives here at Fandom High.

Every student at this school, regardless of their past, starts off again here with a clean slate. This is why you will not be seeing Sarah publicly pointing to those students at the school who are werewolves and might have been involved in last night's attacks. Are they werewolves? Yes, but that is not enough reason to publicly persecute them. They have received their warnings and have responded with their apologies and assurances that they will contact the school administration if they need our help keeping themselves in control. However, this is not enough for any of them to be trailed after for the rest of the school year by teachers carrying guns loaded with silver bullets.

I also would like to point out that this is a game, this is supposed to be all in good fun, and these student characters are, for all intents and purposes, CHILDREN. If you can't handle a few hundred children without a gun or a sword, we can always find someone else who can.

EDIT: I will also add that any disciplinary action by a teacher that goes beyond giving a student detention is grounds for immediate expulsion from school grounds. Teachers will inform [livejournal.com profile] prisoner_rover, who will bring the offending student to the principal for disciplinary action from now on.

((I have a question. I let Cam buy himself a blaster as a sort of inside joke towards Crichton. I have no intention of using it however for any sort of plot and he's not about to run around the school with it. It's really more of a comical note and nothing more. Is that alright?))

Thank you. I feel a lot safer... and this from a character who gets killed on a daily basis.

Are students allowed to have their own personal guns for use in the firing range?

*stops eyeing the corners suspiciously* Oh good. I really hate getting shot, you know? I used to be at least two inches taller too. *grumbles* But good to know I won't be shot by mistake by the faculty, especially considering my power.

I've been leaving the blaster aboard ship, but wearing the holster anyway. Don't feel dressed without it.

After the trouble in cooking class, the graal stays in my cabin, not in my boot.

And Cam's blaster doesn't work. Can't be made to, either.

Possibly a silly question, but is pepper spray okay? I let Angela buy some after she met the basement tentacle monster, but could easily get rid of it if the stuff would mean a weekend in detention if used.

And what if students/teachers/whomever are actually doing something illegal and carrying a gun as part of the plot? If they get caught, will it be standard disciplinary action?

Spider will dispose of the one 'gun' that he has. Permanently. He will hold till death that the bowel disruptor is not, per se, a gun, but as he's lost it, I think it's a moot point.

(erm. This is [livejournal.com profile] soniabelmont's mun.)

This is probably a really stupid question, but I'm still going to ask it.

Sonia carries a whip. It's not simply a weapon, it's...almost sentient. In anyone else's hands, it would just be a whip, as opposed to a vampire-burning holy weapon. Um. Would it be okay for her to hang onto it, as in keeping it in its case in her dorm? Or does she have to turn it in? I'm totally willing to comply (*she* might not be so happy about it), so yeah, either way. Just wondering.

Veronica probably has a taser somewhere stashed around (it hasn't come up yet, but given her history, I wouldn't be surprised).

What's the protocal on non-lethal defense weapons?

She told me upthread that Angela could keep her pepper spray, so tasers might also be okay.

Also -- you might want to check out this thread before you and oatmanspatient actually talk. We kind of have an idea how we want the whole assassin thing to come out, and we need to decide how we want Veronica to fit in to it, given the extreme likelihood that she'd bust him and go to Angela in about 30 seconds. (Not the current plan.)

Thank you :)

Daniel has forfeited his zat gun. Elizabeth only has decorative swords on her wall, so they don't count as weapons. And Johnny's only weapon is his mind. And his fear toxin. Which he probably won't be using anytime soon XD

Slartibartfast tends to carry a cricket ball around ... he's quite accurate (http://www.livejournal.com/community/fandom_lounge/1532.html) with it, but it's not a projectile weapon as such.

That's okay, surely?
