Caving to intense peer pressure I have created [livejournal.com profile] fh_fic.

Go forth & write cracktastic fic!

Oh, I know! I'm not saying you're the *only* evil one.

OH my god. OH MY GOD. ... OMG! *general flailing of the happy variety*

[identity profile] leeadama.livejournal.com 2005-10-17 01:29 am (UTC)(link)
and I repeat, OH MY GOD.

*plots*

You are a very wicked woman. Very.

*eyes you* Yeah. But you didn't need it. Wicked, I say.

Now I just have to write that piece, don't I? Sigh.

I've got a post-Death Star escape scene rattling around, I need to see if there's a real story in it.

I can't believe you did this. I have like 8 other fic comms to post to mostly due to your evil influence! :P I am going to assume that this functions well outside the game, but to clarify, is it cool to write "whatever we want" for this? I mean, if I want to write something based on characters I don't play in a completely AU way, for example, but based on their FH characters and not just base canon, is that kosher? That's an extreme example, but my mind is particularly twisted.

It's a good question.

I'd guess, that if you're going to base it on FH canon & character interpretation, you'd better get those character's writer's okay. This is a *guess*, and I'm hoping the other five suckers mods will weigh in on this.

Which isn't to say you can't write it, but, we'd probably ask that you not post it here.

Veronica? Angelus? Zero? Liz? Weigh in with your considerations, por favor.

[link me? I don't see this in VM's lj, I assume it's your mun journal.]

I ask about the extreme example because if that is allowed, everything pretty much is, and if not, where is the line drawn?

I mean, if I wrote a songfic parody of "Three Little Maids" about Lee/John/Cameron, no one would probably care. But on the other side of that equation I could write some sort of hardcore sex scene between two characters that aren't mine that could piss everyone off. Or maybe that should be allowed? I mean, that's kind of what we are doing here anyway - but when it comes to issues of respect, etc.

Which leads to my real question, and how we deal with characters that aren't ours at all. I mean, if I want to use my character's POV to discuss another character outside of the game framework, do I need permission?

I mean, it is fanfiction, and being a fanfic writer, I'm used to taking characters that aren't mine and doing horrible, no good, very bad things to them writing all sorts of nonsense. So just to be safe, I'm curious as to the rules, because if I do post something and it offends someone, at least I can say 'hey, honest mistake, maybe the rules need to be revised, no harm, no foul'. I try not to piss people off unless I mean it. :P

To be honest, writing FH fic is tempting, but not high on my list of priorities. So this isn't a huge pressing issue. I'm just curious for the future.
