I just want to say that I am appalled at the number of you people who play this game while you are at work!

*Wonders how anything ever gets done in RL.*

*flails* OMG I KNOW. I just spent like three hours mucking around on here when I have a paper due tomorrow. That I've written about three sentences for. *facepalms*

Strangely, the paper is on cultural studies. I wonder if I can count this as research?

*HIGH FIVE* I had a paper due last week that I ended up pulling an all-nighter for...because I had Rory or possibly Becky caught up in some drama that naturally took precedence over RL. Hee.

I have two papers, a project and a speech all due within two weeks...and my biggest concern when I was assigned all of this was, "How is that going to cut into my [livejournal.com profile] fandomhigh time?"

To be fair, though, as far as work (the money-making kind) goes...I do freelance writing and editing from home, and so it's pretty damn easy for me to stay on top of my job while still playing on here. :)

Thankfully, I don't have class till 1:00 tomorrow. But still, there's this paper, and a lovely assignment on verbal valence-changing operations that I'm trying to pretend doesn't exist.

(i totally need an OOC icon, but i'm too attached to my IC ones to part with any of them!)

Dude, don't even talk to me about the withdrawal I'll be going through come first week of November. And that's not just for vacation but vacation to see my girlfriend.

Mind you, she's just as fannish as I am so it's not like she won't understand ;)

[identity profile] katielockley.livejournal.com 2005-10-21 01:15 am (UTC)(link)
You too, huh? I should be working on my OMGImportant persuasive essay, which I'll be basing my OMGMoreImportant speech on.

Instead, I'm playing with Shane.

Kate's love life takes precedence over my studies, you know.

Hey, I'm only playing from work this week because my supervisor's on a trip to China and it's slow at work anyway, so I can get away with it.

But I get all twitchy when I can only make three or four comments until I get home.

[identity profile] bens-mikey.livejournal.com 2005-10-20 06:52 am (UTC)(link)
Are you saying we should actually justify the time we put into FH? :P

My work's cyclical, which means that sometimes I'm busting my ass to get things done, but a lot of the time I'm twidling my thumbs anyway because we're caught up and then some, so I might as well be playing and keeping my mind active. And I'm damned good at what I do and can get my work done quickly without sacrificing quality. :) (Nope, no humility here. :D)

Mine's very similar. Once my tasks are done, all i do is write porn for Torquere Press anyway. (Oh man, 2 deadlines and 2 proposals! Augh!)

My thesis? Due in 8 days. My productivity? Dropped to like, an eighth of what it was before I started here. Would you people stop being so damn *brilliant*?

I'm so glad this wasn't around when I was writing my dissertation, I did little enough work on it as is was, I'd have failed for sure if Fandom had been about (actually I'd have just written on RPGs and claimed this as research)

Things get done in the break between game posts, of course.

Duh. ;)

Exactly. *nods*

[identity profile] kikidelivers.livejournal.com 2005-10-20 02:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh god, yes. I have work and a thesis kicking my arse, a project and a take-home exam due next week, and I'm just sitting here compulsively clicking "refresh."

[identity profile] persian-eunuch.livejournal.com 2005-10-20 03:14 pm (UTC)(link)
I only wish I had a job that I could play FH at.

All I have is a (paper) notebook to jot down ideas while trying not to die of boredom and sore feet.

*whimper*

God, I wish. I don't even get to see a computer in the twelve hours I'm at work. ;_;

I just started substitute teaching after five months at a help desk job where we were allowed to be on the computer all day and our internet usage wasn't monitored. To say that I am going through insane withdrawls would be an understatement.

I have days when I spend six hours working and two on FH, and days when it's the exact opposite.

Yesterday was the former. Today was the latter.
