Silly question about TV...

Uh. Okay. So some of us are a little obsessed, and our characters watch TV together a lot, and when there isn't a movie on that *doesn't* cross fandoms, it's hard to find a TV show that isn't already represented here, so...

We were thinking of coming up with a community like fandom_TV, which would have fake programs on. Maybe some of the real ones (like Iron Chef) too, but a lot of fake ones, stolen frm other fandoms. Like Dixon Hill for STNG, and Eternal Champion from Forever KNight.

So. Here's a start. If you have suggestions... chime in.

* Eternal Champion 8-9 on Tuesdays, FOX

* Universal Warriors 7-8 on Fridays, SciFi

* Crime & Justice 9-10 on Mondays, NBC

* BUDDIES 8-8:30 on Thursdays, NBC

ETA: Should also add *WAY* up front, that this is not mod-approved and we're mostly just getting ideas here. Sounds like a lot of people would like to have fun with this, but it's so silly I almost don't want to make them have to think about it. So go ahead, suggest stuff, just be aware it may not go anywhere.

ETA2: Unless someone can think of a reason *not* to include them, let's assume that all reality-based TV -- cooking shows, COPS, talk shows, how-to shows, etc. -- are accessible on Fandom Cable. Likewise, any movie that doesn't cross a fandom line and that is being broadcast, is also visible.

I'll be making a list and a post for the shows suggested so far for "additional" TV later tonight.

The Game Show Network in its entirety should still work. As well as Discovery and Animal Planet. And Mythbusters? Please?

I was actually having this conversation with Logan, about turning this movie (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0071276/) into a major, current FH fandom.

This is genius. Can I also say it makes an anal-retentive player like me very happy because god is it hard to watch the cultural subreferences when you're never sure if your character doesn't actually have the culture to subreference? Which of course with my fandom is never a problem ;)

Queer as Folk US had an in-show show. I can't remember the name of it though.

That damn "In Search Of..." slash "X-Files" crossover that the bald dude watches in "Men In Black" (or was it MIB II?)

IN addition to teh Buffy-Werewolf one, how about a cheesy Anita Blake vampire soap opera? Granted, I've not read the books, just heard of the "oh woe, whom do I shag for 30 pages of notsex"

OH, GAWD. ANNE RICE: THE TV SHOW.

...Passions? :D

After consultation with a team of experts (read: i went on IRC and bugged some people) I came up with the following list of shows that existed in PR:

Trick or Treat (game show)
Harvey Garvey Show (talk show)
Totally Talented (reality show)
Ocean Alert (Baywatch-ish)
Funky Fisherman's Cartoon Calvacade (children's show)

Movies:
Star Crossed Lovers - and the remake! heh.
Bride of Hackensack

I think we can kidnap the Food Network, DYI network, and travel channel completely. Not that I'm addicted to them or anything. Especially not Good Eats.

Vanessa Saturn! Show about a teenage PI!

*did not just ask Veronica Mars to watch this show with her in the common room. Nope*

[identity profile] oatmanspatient.livejournal.com 2005-11-08 05:45 am (UTC)(link)
Oh... who would watch a show like that?

[identity profile] oatmanspatient.livejournal.com 2005-11-08 03:59 am (UTC)(link)
Brown Hornet
Pigs... in... SPAAAAAACE.
The Days of the Week (SCTV Soap Opera)
As the Stomach Turns (Soap Opera spoof on the Carol Burnett Show)
Galaxy Quest (Even if the characters and the aliens show up... hey.. still a tv show!)

Pigs in Space.

I mean, SPAAAAAAAAAAAAACE.

I think I love you.

I got some! Yay for Canadian TV.

Sword of Damocles (Made in Canada)
Beaver Creek (Made in Canada)
Marg: Princess Warrior (This Hour Has 22 Minutes - it's a middle-aged, overweight woman in a red Xena outfit accosting politicians.)
Getting Along Famously (Getting Along Famously - shortlived Colin Mochrie show about the eponymous variety hour show)

The Merch (Penny Arcade)
Smile Time (Angel)

And that dating show from 'Mallrats' that I can't remember . . .
