Fugdom, omg
So, many of us go read Go Fug Yourself, right? (If you don't, you should.) And it came up the other day -- what would the Fug Girls say about your character? Would they approve of what they generally wear? Does your character, most times, look sleek and put together, and wear attractive things that actually fit? Or do they dress like the infamous Phoebe Price, or just make terrible, terrible choices about their hair and makeup?
So here's your chance to wax poetic about your character's fashion sense. Is is good? Is it bad? Would you be ashamed to be seen in public with them? You don't have to actually talk like a Fug Girl, don't worry, because omg, I could never be that funny. But lucky me, I don't have to, since they fugged poor Robin back in December.
This is not, note, how your character's actor dresses -- that's a whole other meme, and I'll be keeping an eye on
sith_happened when that happens because damn if Hayden doesn't love his trucker hats. No, just tell us about how well-groomed your character is, and how you feel about their fashion sense.
(omg finally I have used this icon appropriately.)

Still! Thumbs up!
Jaina: She'd get a Well Played when she dresses up, but I think there would be at least one letter to her that starts "Dear Jaina, We KNOW you can bring it, WHY THE HELL DON'T YOU." She dresses sort of boring, and would disappoint them. And lord forbid they catch her in a flightsuit.
Lily: Lily actually dresses pretty well. I don't think they'd have a huge issue with her.
Jaye: She'd get fugged a LOT. Her fashion's just slightly off and she's got a penchant for too much jewelry and big coats.
Aeryn: While Aeryn's usual black and leather isn't bad, they'd have to post many many pictures of her dressed in black and leather as part of a Rut Watch. And the stuff she wears in Cambridge when she's trying to fit in just doesn't look right on her, so she'd get fugged a lot for looking uncomfortable and telling her fine, fine, she can wear the black.

Romeo Montague: Generally dresses very nicely, especially now that he's been coaxed out of the Hawaiian shirt thing (if he wears one now, it's very intentional). He tends toward designer labels, clean lines, and he wears chinos or slacks much more often than jeans. If he wears sneakers and he's not exercising, they're probably, like, Pumas or vintage Reeboks. He likes the bling -- he usually has a nice belt buckle, watch and cuff links if he can get away with it -- but nothing overwhelming. All of that said, he usually looks like he didn't think about his clothes nearly as much as he probably did. The Fugstresses would approve.
Tyler Durden: Wears clothes. Usually clean clothes. Button-down shirts, khaki pants, solid-colored t-shirts and jackets, sneakers just in case he has to run. He'd shop at the Gap or LL Bean. Sometimes he wears something purposely outrageous on a whim, like the apron the first day of class this term, but mostly the GFY girls would be bored by him.
Ella of Frell: Is still wearing her simple blouses and long skirts from home, like, 80 percent of the time, so I think the GFYers would largely be mystified and tell her it wasn't 1600. When she tries to wear modern clothes, she's very impulsive -- there's nothing wrong with the individual pieces she picks, but, because she doesn't know the "language" of clothes, she doesn't really have a cohesive look despite Blair and Angela's shopping help. She barely knows what makeup is for.
Angela Chase: Is pregnant. And hating maternity clothes. When she's not omghuge, she has an, er, interesting sense of fashion -- overalls, tie-dye shirts, big sweaters, baby-doll dresses, jeans over tights. Her wardrobe is mostly jewel tones, she rarely wears either black or pastels. She'll shop at Goodwill or at Macy's, depending on her mood. She wears Doc Martens or Mary Janes most of the time. She is, however, at least over flannel. Her makeup is minimal, and, when she dresses up, she goes for simple, classic lines. None of this looks *that bad* on her, but the GFYers would badly want to make her over.

Kaylee Frye: Oh, she would get so fugged, and not for anything particularly BAD. She looks cute, but she tends to wear bright colors -- not, you know, flattering ones, necessarily, but bright -- if she actually remembers to look decent. Most of the time her nails are dirty, and her hair is kind of all over, but she's got a smile. And let's not talk about when she actually tries to dress up, because holy crap she'd get fugged hardcore for how...poofy and pink she tends to look. I think the Fug Girls would sort of grudgingly fug her over and over, all the while going "KAYLEE. WE KNOW YOU CAN DO BETTER."
Aravis: Aravis is freakin' fierce when she wants to be, but she doesn't usually care. If she's not dressed in clothes from home, it's usually something comfy like yoga pants. But when she dresses up, she does have good taste, though she could give a crap what most people think. She does know what makes her look good, though, and if the Fug Girls ever had a complaint with her, it would be that she can overdo it, jewelry and makeup-wise.
Evey: Evey tends to be extremely minimalist. I don't think she'd even catch the attention of the Fug Girls, because she's boring. She dresses modestly, and when she actually dresses up, it's very classic and simple. She might get a Well Played, but most of the time, if they called her out on anything, it would be for being frumpy and wearing things that don't necessarily flatter her slight wee frame.
Rory: Rory's...kind of touch and go. The girl was raised by Lorelai, which means she has some extraordinarily beautiful clothes and accessories. This also means she occasionally wears some of the ugliest things I've ever seen. I think, more than anything, she'd get called out for not flattering her skin tone, and for playing it too safe.
Susan: Like with Aravis, Susan mostly wears things from home. The only complaint they'd come up with is that she's old-fashioned, really. She doesn't wear modern clothes yet, but if she does start, she'll probably wear a bit of makeup, effectively getting her kicked out of Narnia and all. But it'd be worth it, because she'd know how to work it.

Marshall - Dresses pretty casual most of the time with jeans and a t-shirt. And he looks pretty damn fierce in a suit. He probably wouldn't be on the Fug Girls' radar. Except for that season three hair, yikes.
Lois - She's actually is a pretty good dresser. A lot of tank tops and cute jackets. Her business attire when she starts at the Daily Planet totally rocks. She sticks with the red, blue and yellow scheme. She'd probably get the Fug Girls approval.
Meg - She's always well dressed and wears a lot of designer clothes. A lot of pink (a LOT of pink) and pastels. She dresses extremely preppy. Cheerleader preppy, not cool Blair Waldorf preppy. There's a difference. She'd probably get made fun of a little for the overwhelming pink but wouldn't get fugged.
Chuck - Chuck is the best dresser on the face of the planet. I'm (http://crazylike-afox.livejournal.com/665907.html#cutid1) serious (http://crazylike-afox.livejournal.com/666211.html#cutid1). It doesn't matter what those girls think. He always looks fabulous. Why? Because he's Chuck Bass.

Z - They'd make fun of the SPD uniform (especially the little skirty bit, especially especially the formal uniform) but agree Z wears it well. However, her fashion choices when left to her own devices are always unfortunate. See: orange fishnet shirt with pleather minijacket and beret. See: her damn pajamas. See: Trucker hat with huge hoop earrings. See also: her prom dress. There would be an entry on her that began, "Basically, you know that any time this girl gets to dress herself she's going to make this website. It's like she's taunting us. Luckily, 95% of the time she doesn't get to dress herself." Then they'd see the Time Force uniform and apologize to SPD, as they've realized it could have been so much worse.
Jenny - For everyday wear, she generally dresses in t-shirts and jeans or trousers, sometimes with suspenders. This provides both comfort and function, important to the working superhero, and she's lauded with a Well Played for not falling into the spandex trap. However, the Fug girls are somewhat mystified by Jenny's clinging to nineties fashions, especially that white pantsuit, that was a nightmare, and probably have an entry somewhere in the archives like that one they just did on Lisa Rinna and leopard print, except it's Jenny Sparks and the Union Jack ("Union Fug: We Get It, You're English"). However, she is pretty smokin', and when she's on, she's on, so she gets a Well Played every now and then, too. She's certainly not Fugged as often as certain other members of the Authority, anyway.
Jean-Paul - His X-Men era costume, the one with the goggles, got him Fugged hardcore, with wailings of, "We thought better of you!" Other than that, they agree that he dresses well in civvies (though they're not sure if it's the clothes or if it's just contact with his skin that makes everything he puts on look really gay), his costumes generally haven't sucked, and he looks pretty good in the spandex. The lack of an ounce of body fat anywhere on him helps with that (occasionally they decide he needs to eat a few sandwiches).
Alex - AHAHAHAHA. AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. The Fug girls would write LONG, SOULFUL ESSAYS on the crime against fashion that is the Time Force uniform. They would offer to design a new uniform. Anything to get rid of that shiny white monstrosity. They'd say it should be burned except that would probably release toxic chemicals into the environment. If it even burns. Additional targets: Alex's hair and sunglasses.
Sam - Dresses in a progression of jeans, t-shirts, and hoodies. Fashionably unobjectionable in a teenaged boy kind of way, but tired. Probably he's below the Fug girls' awareness.

And what's wrong with that? *g*
Though really...most of B-Squad's civvy outfits were...something to be desired.
Does Bridge own anything that isn't too big for him and perputally wrinkled? Let's not talk about Sky's taste in sweaters either. *shudders*

Alec: This is about the only time I could link to here (http://alec494.egoism.jp/world/wardrobe/index.html) for any reason, so I will. Thank you fangirls. Anyway, he tends towards simple-ish outfits, so he might bore them a bit, but he cleans up nice and never really looks uncomfortable or out of place in what he chooses to wear, so I think they'd probably not tear him apart at least.

Mac: Oh, Mac. Yeah, she probably isn't on the radar, and if she is she'll be borderline Fug-able. She dresses very casually, and unless she has a specific occasion it's jeans and t-shirts for her. She doesn't really go for the fashion.
Shawn: As a highschooler, it was all ripped jeans, t-shirts and trainers. He'd probably get Fugged for dressing midly hobo.
Once he goes all cult leader? Hoo boy. The boy can work a suit. Yup.

Barney: You know they think he's gorgeous. The coordination of his suits and shirts is immaculate, people. Barney is the only winner in my lot.
Lucas: Okay, he's been fugged (http://gofugyourself.celebuzz.com/go_fug_yourself/2007/06/one_tree_fug.html). So we know how Sophia totally won the stylists in the divorce. But I feel I must point out that his clothes are looking much better and less thuggish in Season 5 so that's a good thing, right?
Toby: He doesn't wear enough clothes to be fugged. But in Season 3 they would possibly wonder what he was thinking wearing a grey t-shirt, dark jeans, and a blackish washed jean jacket to a funeral. It's like he didn't get the memo about the black wife beaters the rest of the cast was wearing. Way to stand out, Toby.
Ronon: I don't think they'd fug him for the leather pants and vests or the Earth wear. But you know that yellow jacket with the fringed sleeves from Season 2 was totally hidden and later burned by someone who knew Jason Momoa could look better. Let us all pray for more episodes with him in the white button down with the suit jacket and jeans. We know Ronon, you stand out no matter what. GUH.

Summer: She almost always dresses very stylish and fashionable. Sometimes, she mixes the designer stuff with vintage and makes it look good. There have been times when she missed the mark, though, especially in season three. Sometimes she ended up dressing like an elderly woman. Those would be the times she'd make the Fug list. When she gets dressed up for formal occasions, she usually pulls it off well. She always wore really cute dresses to the Newport parties in canon.

He'd make the fug list probably just for the fact that he owns nothing else.
Murdock: The man wears nothing but khaki pants, the same old sneakers and a ballcap. Throw in an odd assortment of flannel shirts and obscure tee shirts and top off with the same old boring ballcap.
However...he can clean up quite well. Typically when it's required for a mission or the rare occasion where Face dresses him up. (not dirty! geesh.) The man can seriously rock a suit when he wants to. But that is usually far and few between.
The fug gals would probably jump on him about the open flannels over the tee-shirts all the time, but they'd probably go easy on him since he's insane and really, you can't blame people for bad taste in fashion if they're out of their mind.
