CLASS SIGN UPS, YAY

WAIT! HOLD ON! YOU MUST WAIT FOR THE OCD TO BE FINISHED BEFORE YOU SIGN UP! GO FOR IT! While you're waiting, here's some things for you to read:

Teacher and student expectations...Which you may have just read, depending on whether you go to the bottom of your flist and work up, or start at the top and work down.

Japanese characters, please sign up in the Western style - first name then last name - to make our alphabetical OCDing easier.

The boring but important stuff:

1) Students must sign up for at least 2 classes and may sign up for as many as 4. Additionally, no player may sign up for more than 8 classes in total (so if you have 4 students, they can have 2 classes each. 3 or 2 students, any combination of up to 8 overall, with no more than 4 per character).

2) For any classes that exceed their maximum numbers:
a. If you have two characters signed up for one class, one will be ousted (so make a note of which you'd prefer get in should this happen, if you have a preference).
b. Student characters played by the teacher of the class will also get ousted.
c. If the class still has too many, it will be RNG'd. If you get RNG'd out, I'll let you know ASAP on Thursday morning super early, and you'll need to pick a backup by Thursday night.

3) If you're a TA for a class, you need to sign up for that class, and it will count towards your maximum of 4/minimum of 2, but the TA is not counted when determining if the class is full (full class = 20+TA). Also, your student character cannot be the TA for your teacher character. That's just silly.

4) If it's OOC for your character to take the workshop but you really want to take it anyway, just sign them up and we'll pretend it was an IG paperwork mishap.

5) If you sign up, you need to show up. Class attendance is how we keep track of your character's activity. If you repeatedly fail to at least sign in to classes, we'll have to contact you about it, and you could be asked to leave the game.

6) Class descriptions are subject to change at the teacher's discretion. Teacher's shape is subject to change according to Fandom weirdness.

Class sign-ups close at midnight PST on Wednesday, August 27. No late sign-ups are allowed without extenuating circumstances (so sign up early in case something comes up). If you don't sign up on time, you'll have to wait for the next Semester in JANUARY to play, and that's a long wait.

Care of Magical Creatures: This is an interactive study of caring and dealing with certain creatures in the Danger Shop, where the students will learn about the creature, its origins, its diet, its mating habits, etc, etc., followed by a more practical approach of having the students interact with the creatures themselves, either in general or based around some specific aspect of the legend surrounding them.

Basics of Alchemy: The course would cover alchemy in two forms: the physical and metaphysical, discussing the concepts involved, the disciplines that are a part of the science, and the place of that alchemy can take in a students life and in other disciplines. The class would be largely theoretical with perhaps a few experiments and/or lab procedures.

Hands-On Art: This class will focus more on the creating of art than the history of it, but will occasionally use styles of famous pieces as examples. Students will get to try their hand at different styles and mediums, covering everything from stick figures to skill life to the really wacky-looking stuff. No prior experience necessary.

Using role playing exercises this class will teach students how to make decisions and motivate others to follow them. Time permitting, the class will also cover day to day details such as proper dress and ways to avoid being killed by constituents who don't want to wait long enough to vote for the other guy.

So you know how to fly, do you? But do you know how flight works? What does it take to make a 20,000 pound brick soar through the air anyway?

This class will cover not only the mechanics of flight, including discussions on specific types of aircraft, but the science behind it. The history of flight will also be touched upon, and how it developed over time through various discoveries and technological advances.

Literature: The class is going to be discussing literature in many of its different forms -- plays, poetry prose -- and reacting to specific works, hopefully in ways that do not require the players to be familiar with all of the texts in question. They're going to be discussing authorial intent, ownership of the works, how the medium changes the message, and external factors that can shape a story.

In reality, it's the warped version of gym class that Ronon has gleaned from his time with science geeks and military thugs.
