Class Categories for Teachers: An Informal Poll

Since we're nearing new-apps season (yay!), it's been suggested and we heartily agree that current and potential teachers might like to have a general idea of what areas people are considering for classes next term.

There's plenty of room for all sorts of classes, and we can always work with teachers to find another focus so their classes don't overlap. This is just to let everybody have a general feel for where concentrations are; maybe you'll get inspired to pick something in an area that's not getting a lot of love, or realize something you thought was already covered is wide open for you.

You won't be giving away any shiny secrets about your future class proposals by chiming in. The only thing most people will be able to see is how many votes each general category has, and we adminly-types aren't going to look at the answers as anything more than an indication of interest, nothing binding.

With that in mind, look, ticky-boxes! Click as many as you have class-plans for, whether for a current teacher or a potential new character. (You don't need to tell us which or log in with the specific character it applies to. We're just looking at numbers here.)

That said, if you'd like to clarify something in the comments - (MY CLASS IS NOT MISCELLANEOUS OR WEIRD, SO THERE) - and don't mind letting everybody else in on your ideas, go for it!

Edward will not be returning to teach Sex Ed next semester, so it's open if anyone else wants to pick it up.

(I am planning to app another teacher, but not for Sex Ed.)

I seriously have no idea what Tyler is teaching. I feel like he's tiring of "things go boom" kinda classes, but I'm not sure what else to do. Suggestions gratefully accepted.

Edit: TO head off two obvious suggestions, he's not trained enough for a fighty class. Home ec this summer was awesome, but I don't know if I could make it work for a term.

Maybe a class dealing with psychological/mental issues?

... okay, we have one brain because that's my most recent, as in of five minutes ago, idea. Spooky.

I was totally pointed to the child development class idea (ty [livejournal.com profile] tyler_back, iirc) and am soooo planning on that. But I do not know where it would go under there besides miscellaneous but IT IS NOT WEIRD, so there.

Omg you need to remedy this.

And yeah, I think it's maybe part psychology, probably more in the home ec category, but not entirely, so who even knows. I wanna say at my high school it was offered as a social studies elective.

Semi-related, I was wondering if people would find it useful to have a discussion post about what makes a class work/not work? Like people could post ideas both from a teacher perspective and a student perspective? (And maybe avoid specific examples so as to not hurt anyone's feelings.)

I've been really wanting to do that for a while, actually. So consider this a "yay, nifty!" vote on that idea.

I actually have a few different class options for next semester, and I'm not yet attached to any of them.

If there's something you really want Ghani to teach, let me know here or over email, and I will add it to the Spreadsheet O Doom of potential classes.
