Meme: State of the Characters

We haven't done this since January so, it's time for state of the characters!

Basically, what this meme is for is to give the game at large an update or a summary of what's going on with each of your characters. Romances, classes, upcoming plots, things you might want to do with them in the future, crushes, people you want to thread with, etc.

It's basically a paragraph or so about where your character stands, what's coming up and what the future holds! You can do a comment for each character or stick all your characters in one comment.

For example: Umbridge: Sometimes, it's hard for me to play her because she's so intensive and tiring. But, she's having fun hexing students and pissing off teachers. I'm enjoying her games of give and take with Anakin and Wade, particularly. I'd love to see her thread more with Roy. She'll be leaving soon but not before a big explosive ending.

It doesn't have to be exactly like that but that's basically the gist. Feel free to reply to each other if you have thread ideas or even plot ideas. So, go forth and share! And thank you to [livejournal.com profile] swipedthatfoot for the suggestion on this one!

Joan Girardi
Joan kind of hates me right now. First there was the whole catfight with Turtle at prom (which there still needs to be fallout from), then she had to tell Jess her secret, and Anakin has Plans for her because she recorded him while gremlin bit. She's confused about Marco and maybe crushing on Jess a little.

She and Turtle are planning a multicultural fair for after the newbies arrive, which should be oh-so-interesting now. And there are still canon things that I never got around to addressing that need to be addressed at some point.

Chris Halliwell
Chris is ready to graduate. He loves Fandom, but he's been here for two and a half years and is ready to be back in San Francisco with his brother and his girlfriend. And he won't miss Johnny at all. Nope. He'll be leaving the island shortly after graduation.

Rusty Ryan
Rusty needs to get out more. He's starting to realize just how weird this place is and he's not sure how he feels about it. He needs friends and some kind of plotty thing. So if anyone's got any thoughts in that direction, please share!

Veronica Mars
Veronica is doing pretty well at the moment. She's got her whatever-it-is with Dick, she's being recruited to the CIA and there haven't been any bad/weird/awkward things at the Hyperion lately. I've got an app in for her to come and teach on the island this summer and train with Sarah.

I also think I'll be submitting a student app, which I swore I wasn't going to do until the fall. But the headvoice popped up and got pushy and yeah... *sighs at self*

Ino: Ino is... Ino. Which means she's all over the place, with a million and one projects on-the-go and is pretty well fine with that. She's working on things for Reno, and Tahiri (and while they both have to do with plants, it's like, on the opposite end of the spectrum in reasons why), and I love that she's getting to play with her knowledge of plants. She needs to poke Penelope about going down to her garden too! Her and Tyler's interactions never fail to amuse me, and she's Deep In Denial about the fact that graduation is coming and a lot of her friends are leaving (this happened last year too--why are so many of her friends seniors when she's a sophomore?). Ichigo and her are... a thing. She's not sure--it's so much calmer than her last two relationships that she's just coasting through it at the moment. Liir is pretty much, in her head, a giant question mark, right now, and so far she's pretty inclined to let that stay like that for the while. She's got a mission coming up that'll throw her for a bit of a loop, but other than that, I don't have any real plans for her over the summer.

Hinata: Still my most difficult character to play, I spend more time fretting about her characterization, especially as she starts coming out of her shell more and more, to feel super confident in her. I'm having fun though as she builds her confidence, and her little victories are a blast to explore. (Even if I don't play her as much as she deserves. Sorry, Hinata! ILU.)

Viki: She's tired. While she likes Fandom, she's been here almost a year, and will be quite glad to leave--not that she knows as of yet that she's leaving, the concept of graduation rather escapes her, and her methods of leaving are never planned on by her anyway--because she's more used to leaving than staying. She'll be gone soon after grad.

[identity profile] blondecanary.livejournal.com 2009-04-17 09:02 pm (UTC)(link)
I do love Hinata, btw. And like reading Ino's stuff, though she and Dinah don't seem to have much in common. I'll miss Viki's brain-breaking of Dinah when she goes.

Ben: Ben is a disaster. He's eaten up with guilt about not feeling bad that Jacen is dead, still revisits the death of his friend and his time being tortured by old!slutty!canon!Tahiri and absolutely refuses to give anyone details about any of it. He's keeping himself frantically busy and only sleeps when his body collapses on him. Therefore, he's volatile and generally looking for a fight.

Luke: Luke is at home being a general, a rank that still seems absurd to him. He worries that he's been promoted because of who he is rather than any recent accomplishments he's had and is afraid of letting the people around him down when they realize he's completely unqualified. They have a little more faith in him than he does in himself. He's a little confused about becoming a big brother again, but spends most of his time not thinking about that.

Anakin: Anakin spends all of his time thinking about the impending baby, in between breaks worrying about Jaina and Ben. He remembers what happened the last time he had a pregnant wife and is terrified that history will repeat itself. Naturally, he is not mentioning this to anyone. Sensing a pattern with the Skywalkers?

Claudia: Claudia cheerfully skates through life, especially in a place where grades don't seem to matter. She gives me problems to write because her canon isn't all that deep in terms of character development and I'm afraid of losing her voice.

Biff: I think I've finally hit my stride with Biff. He has people to interact with and friends he's made, and beautiful women to hit on. Biff's pretty easy to please, especially now that his least favorite time of year has passed.

Yzma: Yzma has been a blast, but it is time for her to move on. Her over-the-top insanity is exhausting to write.

Jack: I'm still trying to get into Jack's head, which is a fairly bizarre place to be. Right now I'm not happy with the way he's coming out, but I'm going to work on throwing him out there for more interaction and hope that ease will come with practice.

Oh, crap. Then I'd end up having to fight myself again . . .

Jen
As much as she feels like she isn't ready to graduate and leave the island, she really is. She's never been my easiest character to socialize (though she certainly isn't the hardest), just by nature of who she is. It's kind of a tricky balance to strike sometimes, because as much as she's been learning to loosen up and have some fun, she's also approaching a point in her life where she needs to get serious about her future. She's finally learning how to let go of Wes and Alex (courtesy of my shamelessly using my own characters) and that's really helping her, I think, because I've played her more since then than I really have in a long time. To be honest I've always had a difficult time striking the balance between crack and serious with her (PR Time Force is such a departure from the tone of most of PR, with the new, notable, and awesome exception of RPM that way) and that's always put a crimp in my playing her. There's always been a mildly implied but rather disturbing undertone to the future-world of TF that did lead to one fantastic thread (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomhighdorms/1609278.html?thread=133047102#t133047102) a couple of weeks ago. I regret that I haven't jumped on more opportunities to play her opposite Dojima, though, because I love the way they interact. But she's always been a little more difficult for me, and I'd occasionally toyed with dropping her but kept her on until graduation out of sheer stubbornness.

I love the girl, but I'm ready to let her graduate and start making her own future. Literally, because of where she's going to be. *g*

Also, I've sort of halfway made it a goal of mine that sometime before she leaves the island, she is going to have a conversation with someone that ends up with the other person running away. Just so I can make it three-for-three with my current students. :D

Savannah Levine : She's having a hard time of it emotionally right now, but is doing her best to fight it down and hide it from everyone -- which always goes so well. She doesn't want to say goodbye to her mom, Summer or Chris and it is killing her. It's also tearing her apart that she's going to be away from Johnny after being with him continually for two years. She's been worried about what the future is going to bring for them, but the visit of their kids and Johnny's promise has helped with some of the worry.

She finally brought up the topic of art school in New York to Johnny, and was relieved when he was excited about that possibility. I think she's going to start shifting to where she's putting more work into her art and into her magic. There's a few canon plots I plan to run with her and some more appearances/mentions of what is going on with her family. There's probably going to be some head-butting coming up between her and Benicio. *grins*

Gwynn Hood: Gwynn is feeling at a loss about a few things as she heads into her senior year. When she was first brought it, she hated it and wanted no part of it because she knew her father had sent her here to keep her out of working as closely with Phillip as she had sword to do. That kind of backfired on him (and her) because she has become attached to the modern world and to several people (Conner, Eve, Sean Chris, Summer, Adam). She's about to have to say goodbye (at least temporarily) to the people that have made up most of her world for the last two years. She's used to saying goodbye, but what she's not used to thinking about is her future. All of the future and different timelines she has seen since being in Fandom seem to point to the idea that she stays in this time and doesn't go back to Briton to stay. She's not sure what to think of that or what it could mean for her -- or for her homeland.

Annja Creed: I need to get her out more because when she gets involved in something she is such a blast. I'm really enjoying her friendship with Hoshi and their shared amusement with documenting the embarrassing and strange things their fellow Fandom residents get into. She's more relaxed and accepting of being a 27 year old in a seventeen year old's body as she realizes that she can't do anything about it. She knows that Roux is working on it... and that Garin is out there somewhere, willing to do what he has to do in order to destroy the sword so he isn't immortal any longer. Annja has no desire to make that easy on him as the theory is he'll kill her and Roux to do it.

Phoebe Halliwell: She's doing college and working at the Hyperion. There has been no angst or emo for her for awhile, so obviously that has to change. :) I have a few plots that I'm thinking it might be fun to run because it's fun to mess with the empath and seer.

I have a student app (or two) in the works that I'm working hard on right now. No, they will not come in as Seniors. How I managed to brain dead enough to make all of my students the same year...

And I am always up for suggestions for my characters to do things to better their interaction.

[identity profile] blackmagic-eve.livejournal.com 2009-04-17 07:13 pm (UTC)(link)
We need to finally get rolling on the having Sean and Annja interact plan.

And there can be angst for Phoebe knowing that she had a daughter with Sean in some universe! It's not big angst, comparatively, but it's something!

Lee Adama is graduating soon! It's sad. I don't wanna let him go but he must be free and all that stuff. Right now, the plan is for him to stay on Earth, in this time period and go off to college (probably at UMaine (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/University_of_Maine) just because he'd want a severe change to challenge himself) to get him going with the law interest that he picked up gradually over his time here.

Of course, this means dealing with his father who will not like this, of course, It wouldn't be the Adama family without the strife. Eventually, I hope to change that (and yes, his canon will happen...somehow). On the topic of his father, he'll be meeting Adah come graduation! First time! Lee's probably the only outwardly nervous one about this. Considering how his meeting with her mother went...yeah.

As for Adah, he's still whipped and in love and would make googly eyes at her if she was nearby. He's content. And who knows, maybe that means he'll PROPOSE (I kid, I kid, I have no immediate plans for that).

Or do I?

Katchoo
Oh, Katchoo. This girl is tiring, I have to say, but god, is she fun. Terry Moore once said that when he started working on Strangers in Paradise it was going to be about Francine and her best friend Katchoo, and then he started working on it and Katchoo just took over.

I understand what he meant by that, now. Katchoo isn't the most active of the character voices in my head, the broody little angstbucket, but when she speaks up she just . . . takes. The hell. Over. And I love that about her. I still frequently feel bad that she's so mean to people, and constantly apologize for her, but she's fun that way and I really need to let her get out there and pick a few more fights. It goes without saying that I love her interactions with her canon BFF Francine, as frustrating and occasionally heartbreaking as their interactions can be (reacting to them, not writing them!) -- because that's just how they are. Worf utterly confounds her and it's hilarious. The way she interacts with Claire has been an unexpected and pleasant surprise. I am utterly delighted to finally have gotten the chance to play her off Arthur for the pure explosiveness. I've been meaning for a very long time to play her opposite the Winchesters because there's some interesting potential there, but for some reason or another my timing on that front has sucked. I love that different people in Fandom can evoke such different kinds of reactions from her, and it's always new and interesting to see how her interaction with someone she hasn't met before will play out. I'm feeling more confident in her voice now, and have been, for several months, trying to beat some heavy-duty plottiness into submission for her (the I Dream of You arc from volume 2, for those who know SiP) that I really want to finalize and submit. If I can ever get the wrinkles ironed out of it, and get it greenlit, I'm really excited about the potential this will have in terms of how she relates to others in Fandom.

OMG, I forgot to mention, things are going to be interesting now that she's finally managed to successfully come out to Francine, but is still sort of treading lightly around the whole "in love with Francine" detail of it. Mwahahaha. :D

Lessee:

Worf: Well currently he's pissed that he was a kitten throughout the Zombie Invasion. He can suck it up because RL sucked hard for me when that happened. I have plotty on tap for him but I'm debating whether I should just fic it out or gather some fandom type people to join in. In the meantime I enjoy messing with his head.

Jamie Madrox: Alas Jamie is heading out to the land of expats. I figure three years of driving everyone nuts at Fandom is a pretty good run. He'll be heading out into Temari's world with... well a plan of some kind. Not exactly a sound one mind you but this is Madrox.

Dale Cooper: Is insanely cheerful. And engaged. Whatever bad luck he had in his own world sure didn't follow him here. Plus he just had a big talk with Charlotte that went pretty well to boot.

Indiana Jones: Having a hard time getting him out and about. Need to work on him interacting more and so forth. I think he's finally adjusted to the weirdness of Fandom but he needs to make a few friends and get some drinking buddies.

Dor: Having a lot of trouble with Dor. He's happy and all in Fandom but he's hard for me to play at times. When I do get him out there he's okay but it's just getting into the mindset that's the hard part.

Lacey Burrows
Lacey's the hardest for me, really, purely by virtue of the fact that she's so completely different from me in ways that make my channeling certain aspects of her personality difficult to grasp. She tries so very hard to be sophisticated and cosmopolitan, and she's so very girly, and those are things I look at and just go, ". . ."

Heh. Yeah, it's sad. I need to work on getting her out more, because I really do love playing with the Corner Gas style fantasy sequences and haven't done it in a few weeks. It should be interesting seeing how she tries to deal with her denial over her zombification in her own uniquely cracky way.

See? Hardest for me. I can't even ramble at length.

Gavin Darklighter is also graduating! I messed myself up by having three boys graduate at the same time. Whoops! Anyway, Gavin's probably going to be the first of mine to leave. He's eager to get back home, get back into his ship and get back to fighting. He's been dormant and cut off for way too long. He's getting restless and, while the zombie stuff helped with that, he misses his home and he needs to get back to that. He can't become some badass admiral while staying around Fandom and eating candy.

He also HATES gremlin bites. He hasn't had as many as the Skywalkers but his have been TERRIBLY EMBARRASSING. This, of course, means I want to do one more before he leaves. SOMETHING.

He's mostly quiet, though, which is fine with me. I love sticking him against Ben or John Sheppard or even Tahiri because it's fun to talk shop. Or, in John's case, get into fights. It just happens all the time. No idea how.

Constable Benton Fraser is still doing just fine. He's my longest running character (besides John) and he's gotten insanely easy to play over the years. His voice was initially hard but it comes easier than almost anyone else's now.

He's content. He's fine. Which, of course, means I need to fix. I can't keep using Victoria to come in and ruin his life so that means he's going to have to do something and get himself messed up or what have you. Who knows. I haven't even thought about it except in the sense that it needs to happen. I've tossed around a few ideas (in my head) about him quitting the RCMP or even getting transferred back to Chicago (or Canada) but that's all REALLY early in the planning process. So, we'll see.

He's completely happy with his relationships. He's got Robin and he's got Ray and Wade and Nate and that's all that he needs. He was also completely ready to get married on the cruise and was a little woeful that it didn't happen. He understood but still. He wonders if that's the closest he'll get.

FYI, Dief is never going to die. That would be untold trauma for a few people so it won't happen. HE IS AN IMMORTAL DOG.

Ender has finally gotten some scrap of communication with the people at home - which means he spends most of his time bugging Graff about more data on the buggers. It's lit a torch under his latent obsession in that area, and it's in danger of scrapping out some of his headway. He's way too good at slipping under the radar, really.

He learns more from working for Stark and the data he gets than his classes, by far, but he's comfortable with that; does his classwork well, stays polite with his fellow students, and otherwise keeps in the background.

Well, except for Ben. There are times Ender smacks himself for letting anyone close enough to even have an inkling of an idea of where to push, yes.

Dinah Lance:

Oh, I'm having so much fun playing her. She's still bright and bubbly and enthusiastic, but I think she's calmed down enough, and started learning enough, that I can reasonably mature her into someone who can become a superhero in a few years. She still has the heart, now she's learning to use her judgment too. I love all her friendships with people, because each one is totally different; different moods, different reasons for being friends, different roles... and I love her romantic and emotional disasters, even if they're just baby steps as she tries to figure stuff out. A boyfriend would be nice for her, but not nearly as entertaining yet. No big plotty plans for her, because she does just fine reacting to the craziness around her and trying to find new reckless ways to either break something or become something. I'd like to play her off even more people, but I might pass out. New classes and new projects in the summer should do most of the work for that for me, though. I have an idea for a plot waaaay down the line, but that totally depends on way too many RL and other-character interactions to really plan yet.

Parker:

Is so not happy with me. Heh. She's in China for the summer, on a semester exchange with Peking University (as RL Oxford does for their language students) and still interning for the Centre there, working with Lyle. Huge plottiness there ahead. I still love writing her, although it's always hard to keep her stuff going when she's cut off in most ways from most people from FH. Although her phone calls with Zero are among the most entertaining and easiest things to write, ever.

. . . oh, here we go. Batten down the hatches, this'll be a long one. Perhaps that's apt.

Tahiri
You know, when [livejournal.com profile] trickster_twin first convinced me to app Tahiri, I was sure that nobody was ever going to budge Katchoo from the "alpha character" sort of position in my head, because she was Katchoo. Boy, was I wrong, because for a secondary character in canon I keep discovering new and interesting aspects of this kid to explore. As absolutely terrified I was of getting her voice down when I first brought her in, I'm feeling better and better about it all the time. And I get to play with aspects of her character that don't really come up much in canon -- she's barely sixteen and has pretty much effectively grown up as part of three completely different cultures already.

It adds to the fun that due to various recent developments, it's pretty much guaranteed that I'm going to be tweaking canon a lot. Which I am not complaining about. (Have you seen my keysmash? But thank you new and shiny recent canon for giving me some ideas!) But that's fun, and it's fascinating to play with. She's doing well in Fandom -- much better than she would have been at home, thanks to having friends and being away from the mess of the Yuuzhan Vong War. She's started to figure out that this whole happiness thing is still doable, even after losing Anakin. For all that she's still one truly broken, screwed up kid. The Riina Kwaad personality is starting to come more and more into her own, which is bad enough, and she worries about the vision Anakin had of her (grown up, fully Yuuzhan Vong, and a Dark Side Force-user). And now she knows, or suspects, just enough about what one version of her does in the future to scare the hell out of her.

That stress, combined with the fact that she's never been the most emotionally disciplined Jedi, isn't helping her deal with Riina well at all. I mean, she's doing better than in canon, but she absolutely, definitely still has issues. And I'm trying to plot out the next few canon catchups for her now . . . and the character development that happens there isn't going to get forgotten by me, thank you very much. *breathes*

Interactionwise, I love the friendships she's developed with Firekeeper and Dinah a lot, the total contrast between her world and Hurley's as it comes up in their conversations, the way Ino keeps picking up on some of her little lapse moments. And of course I love throwing her against the other SW characters, because the timeline disparities make for some seriously cool (and frequently dramatic) situations.

So, uh, yeah. I'm having a lot of fun with Tahiri.

Angela is without a doubt the easiest of mine to play, even if I have been horrible to her the last few months, what with traumatising and not just letting her sit out the zombies, making her get drunk and married, and get chased by an axe wielding serial killer... and I'm sure there's more. Bunch of horrible enablers, the lot of you.

However, excessive trauma aside, she's actually content right now. She has a lot of really great friends (even if too many are graduating), a boyfriend (she's hoping to hold onto that one, thank you) and the summer is almost here. She may not be quite back at that excessively optimistic normal level of hers just yet, but she's still easily kept happy this one.

Mac is at that point where she's ready to graduate, and after all this time I'm never sure I've got her characterisation down anymore -- which is why she's been comparatively quiet for a while now. She started off as a Freshman... so, yeah, it's about time. She's had her requisite gremlin bite (and hates me for it) and a lot of her friends graduated or left already.

She'll be heading off soon after graduation, although I haven't yet decided what I'm doing with her. I keep hoping something will leap out at me.

Ah Shawn, my little cult leader in training. He loves Lana to bits, but not so much the part where he's living across the country from her. One day that might change, you never know.

He's all but dropped out of college at this point, and I keep meaning to establish the fact he's living at the centre and forgetting. Oops. Speaking of that, he's been putting off and putting off dealing with Danny and the promycin shots since graduation, and sometime, he'll have to cave on that, which I'm putting off due to EMO. Sigh.

Liir

...Liir is not the loudest pup in my head, but he's kind... the default? Does that make sense? Occasionally, his writing patterns infect the other two and I have to go randomly reread/rewatch canon to get that straight, so when I say he's easy to write, YEAH. He's a little bit lost at the moment, with Amber leaving and his relationship with Ino *waves hands awkwardly* and his father also planning to leave (as soon as the other mun and I can work that out), but he's also a little bit lost in general so I suppose that works. I also realize I need to play him more since I've been a little absent the last few weeks due to brain blockage, RL, and being stranded sans internets but in general, he's all right. He's kind of coasting at the moment, when it comes to his character developement, but that's kind of a good thing since he can whip me along with his intensity sometimes.

I'd love to see him thread more and talk to more people; I'm kind of looking forward to the picnic coming up in a month or so so that he can get out and about a little more.

Geoffrey

Is hard to write. Mostly because he lives for the plays and doesn't really give half a crap about anyone or anything otherwise. He REFUSES to have a social life other than deal with his actors and even then, he's wondering if he's getting too close and being too chummy. I do enjoy making him completely bonkers, though. He's fun when my tact is kind of, er, missing.

Also SHAKESPEARE!

Abby Irene

She's... I love playing her but she's so out of PLACE here with nothing to do 90 % of the time. She's not a particularly social creature, so filling it up with people doesn't quite work for her, and a lot of what makes her somewhat outrageous where she's from (and yes, she enjoys that) doesn't quite work here. That said, I love writing about her subjects and it still cracks me up that she's like "...California. Never heard of it before here. Strange idea." I think her best connections are with her students who are pretty damn awesome even if there's only like... seven of them usually ^_^ And of course, there's Murdock, but that's a whole... THING.

Happy for suggestions with her!

Romeo

He's ready to graduate (even if he has fuck-all idea what to do with the next 70 years of his life); I'm not quite as ready to let him go. Despite the marriage drama, he's so stable with Dojima now that it frees him up to think about something besides TRUE LOVE, and his mind's been turning to justice and duty a lot lately. He knows he's not Reno or Arthur, it's not his lot to save a world, but he's wondering if following a girl to Tokyo is the best thing he can do when Verona's peace is always so fragile. That's something I hope to play out with him over the next few months. I know what he'll decide in the end, but I'm not telling.

Claire

I brought her in wanting to play out a season and let her go, and I think that was absolutely the right choice. After the zombies, she's pretty much done with Fandom. Too dangerous, not her scene. Leaving Cal is going to hurt a lot, and she'll worry about her friends here, but it's time for her to get on to the next chapter of her life.

And she is crazy proud that Art Crawl went so well.

Sarah

She won't admit it, but she's fairly miserable, to be honest. The harpies and the zombies helped, but mostly she feels like there's nothing to do on the island, and she's worried about how Chuck's doing without her. She doesn't make friends easily (or, really, at all), which makes sense for her but makes her hard to play. I want to see the season finale and then I'll decide where she's going; it may be off the island and back to work. (Capslock time: PLEASE WATCH THE FINALE. SAVE CHUCK.)

Tyler

I have noooo idea. He's happy and I'm very "...wait. You aren't allowed to be happy. Are you?". And he says he is. I love that we're doing Fight Club on the island, even if availability issues mean I haven't been as active in it as I'd like, and his ongoing nonrelationship relationship with Tony continues to be my favorite thing. he's taking the first half of summer off as a break from teaching, and, at some point, he's going to have to start thinking about who he is and what he does when he's not in Fandom.

Arthur is still mostly preoccupied with how to get home, but since that doesn't seem to be happening any time soon, he's trying to fill up the ginormous hole in his life. He really is a creature of duty and without it he goes... a little bit nuts. And then people enable him into things like the Fandom Reserve-- because he is worried about the odds, and will continue to be so no matter what.

His magic issues are really more about the daddy issues than actual hatred of the craft. He's slowly dealing with it one step at a time, but he still feels like he's betraying his father even if he has little choice. Refusing entirely will just wind up with him dead, after all. He's still constantly at a heightened state of both confusion and awareness, on his guard, and generally shielded.

To deal with that, he... can take his frustration out on everyone else. Still, he's trying to do the right thing. And in the midst of all the craziness, having made a friend who gets the whole manly, beating-things-up-is-fun aspect of things - Reno, and Romeo makes a good second - is doing him some good. Add to that him trying to find some stable ground in his friendship with Merlin, repression of some good ol' jealousy, the constant power-battles-slash-friends-with-benefits he has with Leto, Dinah being a pain in his ass, and the rest of Fandom being what it is... yep.

Still, there's a lot of wondering what'll happen when two of his best local friends graduate. But we'll get to that when it comes up.

Triela has had an interesting semester. In a lot of ways I feel like she's been in a holding pattern (though Dinah's done a lot to shake her up, for which I am forever grateful). She's very much avoiding thinking about the fact that Amber won't be around forever since Amber is the person who's probably taught her the most about being human and the one who's the closest to occupying the same mental space as the girls back home. She's never lost one before, so that's going to be interesting.

Though they don't hang out that much these days, she's also going to miss Dojima (who she actually lets herself admit is leaving) since Doji sort of teaches by example how to be effective and have fun. She's trying to decide on an appropriate graduation gift, but she's usually pretty bad at those.

At the more meta level I'm beginning to suspect that I've pushed her arrogant and standoffish aspects a bit too hard over the past couple of months. I sort of fell into a rut there, and if I'm beginning to notice this, then it suggests there might be a problem. Which is why I'm doubly-glad that I'm going to be pushing her through canon sometime in early May. She needs a good shaking-up.

As for long-term plans, well, I've got them. We'll see how they go. A lot will depend on how the summer goes. All I know right now is that I'm excited to see what ends up happening!

Hannibal King is always the loudest. Always always always. I have to stop myself from playing him sometimes so I can play the other boys. I never really have to plot with him (ignoring that pesky lack of movie canon) because he does so well with the day to day weirdness and plots that happen. He's just very go with the flow, have fun, and adapt when he has to. He just adapts so easily so nothing really phases him for long.

Of course, his big thing was the fact that he finally (and I didn't realize how long it had taken until someone mentioned it) stopped being stupid in regards to Angela and said 'OMG JUST DATE MEEEEEEE!' And while he initially thought he was going to screw it up, he hasn't and he's getting pretty attached to her. Of course, it's going to be like pulling teeth to get him to admit any deeper feelings (which he's gaining) but, at least, he's feeling them.

Also, he hasn't gotten into a fight in...about a month! That's pretty decent since he and Romeo or Arthur or Johnny were butting heads pretty often. Accomplishment!

Priestly is perhaps the most fun I've had RPing in a long time. He's totally laid back and not demanding that I play him constantly to the exclusion of everything else but also not willing to let himself be tossed to the wayside in favor of other things. It's always just a little bit frustrating to play a non-combatant in this sort of game, and Priestly is just cliche-guy enough to be frustrated with his lack of fighting skills himself, so perhaps I'll have some room for development there.

No real big plot plans for this boy. He's having plenty of fun just being along for the ride (and dying his hair). I need to work on getting more of the thirty-one t-shirts I have bookmarked for him into play. The one thing I would like to do with him at some point is play on the whole "my first name is Boaz" thing more -- I was considering a gremlin bite to get him all Banana Republic-y for a little bit, but I dunno. It doesn't feel like a big enough thing for a proper gremlin bite.

It's interesting playing a fluffy rom-com supporting character as a real person, but I'm having fun delving into why he does things the way he does them and him being the comic relief cheer-up guy with occasional hippie leanings at odds with his punk attitude.

Things I'd like to accomplish with him (other than the Boaz thing): He needs to get beat up a little more. Get into a fight or two, I think, a petty squabble that actually turns however briefly to fisticuffs. And he needs to not get along with absolutely everybody. He even managed to bond briefly with Arthur! The hell?

Coyote is, to be perfectly honest, probably on his way out. He's super-fun, but is suffering from "Bella has more than one character" syndrome. Which is why I'm resisting the urge to app anyone new into the game, despite how many different characters my brain is cooking up going "wouldn't it be fun to. . . ?" I'm just not sure what I'm doing with this delightful nature spirit, and I'm constantly forgetting to play him. Which I hate doing to characters.

But I've learned my lesson this time! One RP character at a time! Priestly will continue to rule this roost for the foreseeable future.

Loki hates that he likes it here. That was not supposed to happen and he resisted and resisted and this place has proven that resistance is futile. He's still incredibly easy to play since he's very go with the flow or, if not that, bother the crap out of people to amuse himself.

He has friends and he's actually okay with telling them that they are his friends. He keeps making stupid bets with Daisy (wow, is he going to lose that beard growing bet) and introduces Biff to things like video games and then gives him COMPLETELY HORRIBLE advice to amuse himself.

I need to do more conversations with Metatron because they amuse the shit out of me. And maybe, somehow, get a Golgotha around because every game needs one of those. I'm also working on exploring some of the more religious aspects of his past and such, doing some past creating with the historical text that's around just for my own knowledge.

He's another one of mine who's not a big plot guy. He adapts and adjusts and does shit his own way, everyone else be damned.

[identity profile] joan-notjane.livejournal.com 2009-04-17 05:29 pm (UTC)(link)
I still want to do some kind of plot with Joan, Loki and Biff.

I just... have no idea what.

Maybe we need some kind of biblical apocalyptic BDE. We've got enough characters in game who have ties to that kind of thing to make it work.

Sam is Not Happy that it's graduation time already since it means he's going to be losing Dean and Peter, so I fully expect him to get clingy as the summer months go on. His relationship with Chuck has turned into a thing of awesome, so I'm excited to see where that continues to go. *cackle* In general, Sam is fairly content - school is going well, no one he cares for got permanently killed by a zombie, there haven't been any demonic visits or visions in a few months, and he's in looooove. Of course, he doesn't know what [livejournal.com profile] saltandammo and I have been thinking about for the summer, and what I have planned for his senior year. Mwahahaha!

Jess is still dealing with how upside down everything got during the AU kid weekend. Even the slightest possibility that he could grow up and be a happily married father is like the opposite of everything he's ever imagined for himself, and he's totally weirded out that he kind-of-maybe-sort-of likes the idea. (He blames Peter infecting him with feelings somehow, and Rory for getting herself knocked up.) The fact that Joan felt comfortable sharing her big secret with him is freaking him out too, partly because he still has Trust Issues (which I'm so happy to be dealing with, hee!) and partly because it means there might actually be a God and he was kind of happy not having religious concerns. Oops. He's glad to be actually graduating (second time's the charm!) but he'll be sticking around for the summer because, as the babbling shows, I'm kind of attached. *squishes him*

Éowyn now knows more about the inside of a zombie's head than she ever wanted to, but boy did she have fun chopping up the undead anyway. I'm really happy with how the BDE went for her, because it was one of the first times that I felt really comfortable playing her (oh, the hangups I have when it comes to trying to write Tolkienese), and I think she's a lot more settled in Fandom than ever because she can fight here and stab things and be unladylike and no one tells her to stop. She has so few burdens here, being away from her family and not having to be the proper niece of a king, and I think that's something I can deal with more now.

Zoe is very, very glad that the week of repercussion-free gremlin bites is over. She's not happy about graduation either because she's worried about what Dean is going to be running off to do, so I think she might be tracking him down for some Serious Conversations. ([livejournal.com profile] saltandammo, consider this your warning. *cackle*) She's quite content with how married life is going, except that the AU kids showing up always makes her want another child and causes her to wonder how many colors Anakin would turn if she said the words "maternity leave" again.

Also, deep down, she's going to be sad that Jamie is leaving. Shhh, don't tell.

Martha thinks it's strange to say that she enjoyed the zombie invastion, but she got to be useful and no one died, so there you go. Her clinic duties will probably be changing a bit with the addition of a new doctor, so I'm going to have to get her out elsewhere to make up for it, huzzah. She's by far the quietest voice I've got, so that'll be good for her and for me.

Eliza has her thing going with the sign, and I plan to milk that for many delightful months to come. She's underplayed in a social sense, and... likely to remain that way except when great opportunities present themselves, because I tend to be too tired to send her out to interact with other grownups. I'm okay with this, though. For the moment I like her as a comedic set-piece with occasional moments of deepness.

Xander is off in THE FUTURE doing his support-and-repair thing, still maybe a little thrown/frustrated at the change from Scooby/Fandom teamwork to really being the support guy, but able to work with it. Because he's not Riley Finn. He needs to interact more with fellow alums when I've got the free time, and there'll be the opportunity coming up for more local stuff with people he actually sees, too. Xander (and Xander/Bridge) are my relaxation - he'll never not be one of the built-in voices in my head.

Francine ...ahahahahaha. Uh, yeah. She's just a little topsy-turvy at the moment, between finally cluing in to like... a tenth of the things about her best friend that she didn't know, and boyfriend of epic but adorable ears flail. Also pretty much anything Katchoo says about upcoming canon is going to have its own additional flail-inducing effects on Francie. OOCly, I feel like I'm finally getting her up to speed and out there a bit more, and I do want to have her interact even more with other students. My characters tend to find a close group of friends and stick with them, but I'd really like Francine to break the trend a bit on that, and me as well.

Also? She got cheered up by Chuck Bass last night. Without the use of booze, pot, or nudity, and pretty much free of charge. W. T. F?
