BDE: The Used Too Many Monkeys Edition!

People of Fandom, this is your BDE!*

The week of March 22nd through the 27th, we, the people of Fandom Island, will find ourselves under attack from a mad scientist and his diabolical machinations. But fear not, gentle reader, for this is Fandom and we are blessed with heroes to defeat this evil. Heroes of both of the super and every-day variety!

Monday: Under the cover of darkness, the evil scientist will be moving his lair away from Skullcrusher Mountain due to an unfortunate need for... extreme renovations, and into one of the two or three or eighteen abandoned warehouses on Fandom Island. It is from there that he will lay siege upon our fair island until he obtains whatever mysterious objective he has come for. (Hint: it wears leather, fires a mean shotgun and might be Luke Skywalker's mother-in-law someday.)

Tuesday & Wednesday: Starting Tuesday morning, some of the madman's horrific creations will be lurking about the island, trying to find what their master is here for.

At the same time, a mysterious fog will cover the island, hanging thickly in the air all week long. But unlike a normal fog, this one has a few side effects if someone remains out in it for too long: they'll start to hallucinate that their friends and neighbors are actually the aforementioned monsters, provoking altercations, arguments, paranoia and fleeeeeeeeing depending on your own perverse desires.

This fog will affect anybody who goes out in it regardless of species (unless they don't breathe at all) but the length of exposure before the hallucinations start is moddable. It will also wear off once people get inside a building with its own ventilation systems like the school, dorms, or businesses -- but once again, how long it takes for the effect to go away is your choice, though we'd suggest less than an hour. The effect can happen inside in a limited fashion as well, in a room with a window open, but please limit this to the post in question.

Thursday & Friday: Not having been able to find anything while sneaking, the monsters have taken a more offensive approach and will brazenly be walking around town, attacking any poor soul that gets too close to them. We'll post a sign-up for those who want some NPC-monster action, or want to provide it, as the time gets closer.

Meanwhile, the Fandom Smarty Pantses can be figuring out that the hallucinations are caused by the fog, and start taking their own precautions against it: gas masks, breathing spells, scuba gear. Be as creative as you'd like!

Saturday: The evil scientist's goal has finally been realized, but all these meddling do-gooders are standing in the way of progress.

So, late into the night, he will make his monster groooow pull his trump card in hopes of distracting them so he and his prize can safely escape in his golden submarine.

Before that happens, though, one intrepid Fandomite will track a Half-Monkey, Half-Pony monster back to the lair, discovering the scientist's location and reporting back with details! We're taking volunteers for this below, with the almighty RNG making the final decision - please make it a character who actually has some hiding and sneaking skills, though!

If you're up for NPC-ing man-sized lizard-creatures or Half-Monkey, Half-Pony monsters (some of which have too many monkeys), sign up here! There'll be some wrangling later on to match you up with hapless Fandomites.
